1) I think POF is a waste of time if you're just an average guy looking for a relationship. A lot of girls misrepresent themselves online - they're not really looking, they're just addicted to serial dates thru POF, or they turn out to be ugly or very overweight, or just plain WEIRDOS. The few that are nice are holding out for someone that looks like Brad Pitt with a nice house, nice car, & a successful career.
2) You can't tell what a person is like online, or if there's a genuine spark, no matter how much you chat with them & how many pics they have. It’s better to meet someone the old-fashioned way… not online, but thru a chance meeting in real-life. In the 18 months I was on POF (2006 – 2007), I met 45 women in person, which was just a fraction of the number I contacted or vice-versa online.
3) Out of those 45 gals I met face to face, maybe 3 turned out to be women worth trying a serious relationship with, but they seemed like they were holding out for Brad Pitt. Another seven weren’t relationship material, but I got laid – some of those 7 ended up being longer term “friends with benefits”. But the rest (about 35) were a waste of time… they had lied about their appearance, or life circumstances, or were weirdos.
4) Another thing that really bothered me, & has only gotten worse, is the guy who runs POF – Markus. He’s an anal, uptight, control freak. He would constantly remove pics that he deemed inappropriate, even if they were just harmlessly funny. I got loads of replies just because of making people laugh, but Markus would routinely remove the pics. He’s an uptight ASSHOLE.

I have done well out of POF it is well worth while. The Irish site is very busy. But other countries in Europe are not so busy. That is what makes a dating site, people being on it and looking.

POF is a brilliant idea and I give mad respect to the geek that invented a free dating site that makes him MILLIONS. But for actually finding love, POF doesn't work. People's expectations are way out of whack on there and many profiles are misleading - anyone heard of the 'top down' photo (overweight girl taking a picture of just her face and breasts). The male bashing on there is brutal too - yet girls go after the same type of guys each time. Happily, I found my girl in the real world.

i tried out this site briefly, as well as one paid site. both of them yielded similar results, mostly a waste of time. this doesn't however mean that it's a waste for everyone. i find meeting women in person to be easier than online, as the women are skitish and it's hard to get a read on them, so i end up losing intrest. some guys i know meet women in bars/clubs. this arena isnt sucsessful for me, but i cant tell them that because it works for them.

Now SOME people can achieve the results they want, but they are typically the minority. You also have to take health into account when determining how someones body can change. If you have a health condition (and it's possible you might not even be aware of it) that could prevent you from achieving success, no matter how hard you work.

I put up a profile on POF as an experiment and after about 10 days i had a whopping 5 girls actually view it. then i put up a fake profile with a picture of my ex gfriend of many years who is cute but doesn't exceed my standards by all that much. It was downright disturbing how much attention the fake profile got. it was receiving about 80 emails a day and viewed by hundreds if not thousands of people in the same amount of time my real profile was viewed 5 times.
