Im pretty sure it's about Brandon Flower's mother who is dying from cancer. His father left him at a young age and now he is left. 1961 is the year his parents met in a trailer park and he "swept Cinderella" off her feet and then dumped her "Slick chrome american prince" The lyrics "now cinderella don't you go to sleep (die)/ it's such a bitter form of refuge/ and everybody needs you" Now the father is coming back. i think they made him get in a fight and go to prison just for the music video.

@TheDipa99 i think the story is that the older man used to be in a gang when he was younger and killed someone (probably a member of another gang) which is the scene shown in the beginning with the two guys fighting. He goes to jail and eventually gets out decades later. The girl is someone he loved a when before he went to jail. And the ending shows him finding her after all those years.

eh video is really girly (not unusual for the killers) but brandon flowers maintains his position as one of the most talented vocalists on the indie rock scene. you certainly don't need a talented vocalist in "rock n roll" (ehh, it's on the line), but it's definitely a plus if you do.
