  • How did deregulation fair in the case of Enron?

  • Sounds like opportunity for somone to make money out of it.

If it's under state control it could be done in such a way that it's non profit, and gives fair and predictable prices. Instead of deregulating it, pherhaps they should have checked out this idea first.

  • Learn how to cut & style hair for your friends and family. It's a great way to save money on expensive salon visits while learning a great new skill! And each video only costs $1!

  • Say i purchase power from an laternate out of state company, then there is a storm and knocks down the connection to my house.....Who will fix it....Im sure the local monopoly will charge me 4 years worth of saving? what do you think?

  • @nurtasuts There are generally two charges on your local bill. One is for actual consumption, which is from your energy supplier. The second is for local delivery, which is from your local utility provider. The local utility is responsible for all delivery, so if a storm knocks down power lines, that is completely repaired and covered by the local utility without additional charge to you.

  • @discountenergyplan the problem is, well greed, look to California energy crisis. This is all speculation, and will cause lay-offs, and cost you more because you will have to buy this or that to be free. And they to install a new electrical grid, costing families for generations !!!!

To be truly FREE AND INDEPENDENT, pray for Bloom Energy (energy servers installed on your home or business) to go national then worldwide. This is energy 24/7 PERIOD, off their dam grid.

  • All flim-flam, under Clinton they got rid of the Glass-Steagal Act (put in after Great Drepression 1), what happened, biggest financial crisis ever, world wide.

Read, "Econimic Hitman", by John Perkins, about energy grids installed on countries, costing families for generations !!

Everything in politics is planned, nothing is by chance, "Pres Theodore Roosevelt"

  • this is we Japanese need right now,,, Deregulation for energy supply,,, often we discuss how to reduce the energy...but

  • I have received some comments regarding the ability for companies to switch rates, change suppliers, or even be offshore. In reality, there are protections in place to ensure that consumers have control. After review and consideration of market pricing, many of my customers sign fixed-rate contracts that protects them from price fluctuations. Additionally, the contracts are only with approved suppliers that meet all stringent criteria. Energy is still distributed by the local utility.

  • I've changed suppliers now a couple of times to get the cheapest rate, and I've never had any problem with anything. One bill, nothing changes but the cheaper rate. Works for me!

  • Most of these new energy companies after deregulation are running various kinds of scams. Most common are MLM, variable-rate, bait-and-switch, binding contracts with termination fee, and many other.

    In short, stay away!

Some of the positive comments on this video are promotional blogging.

  • @VinnieCool13 You make some good points - there are a lot of companies out there that are preying upon an uneducated public! This is exactly why I posted this educational video!!!

My company focuses on negotiating with MULTIPLE providers to ensure that our clients get the very best pricing. We compare multiple quotes and are completely transparent with the process.

In short - Energy Deregulation Savings are completely legit, but use a brokering approach to ensure savings are maximized!

  • What's fun is constantly switching varible plans month to month. I've done this for 6 months now and have never paid more than $0.05 per KWHR.

  • really, thats funny, I liked things alot better when Houston Lighting and Power (HL&P) was running pretty much everything in Texas, goddamn deregulation comes along and they break it up into 20 smaller companies like Oncor which sucks ass as a provider by the way and I know many others that also share that opinion, Just is not much better either. They are all money making crooks. At least the power was more reliable and steady when it was all being run under one umbrella and not all about money

  • @MrCryptica82 Thanks for your candid commentary. In reality, deregulation should not affect your local service at all. Reliability of both electricity and natural gas are not affected by deregulation - the same wires and pipes are used to distribute. Local billing may be impacted depending on local legislation, but for the large majority, implementing deregulation will leave the local service and distribution exactly the same and simply provide the consumer with lower rates.

  • @Pitster73

It is happening in Canada too. check my website to see what is available in your province or call me

  • San Antonio, TX is still under a monopoly, a quasi private/public company. Their products are quite expensive. In 2006 we moved into an adjoining county and had 40 electric providers to choose from. We went with a co-op. Our electric KWH rates are cheaper than they were in San Antonio and we get rebate checks at the end of the year, because we are in a co-op. This last Oct, Nov and Dec we received rebates each month for a grand total of over $200. That sure helps.

  • I can't wait for this to happen! More choices are always good and gives those companies that always had reign a run for their money.

  • @kandreaaustin - I agree - We are averaging savings for our customers of around 15% for commercial electricity and 13% on commercial natural gas. This is a great option for businesses looking to save money on their monthly bills. Check out our energy savings calculator to estimate savings - Thanks!

  • Do you have any insight at all as to this happening in Canada for 2011 or is this deregulation only available in the United States?

  • @Pitster73 Hi - thanks for the comment - we are currently working to align providers in Ontario and British Columbia - we are hoping this will be available in 2011.

  • @discountenergyplan ahh ok....well the reason I ask is because I hear a company called 5linx is bringing their energy over to Ontario in 2011. They purchased their own energy company so I signed up as a rep to capitalize on this

  • @Pitster73 Thank you for sharing - I spent a year investigating commercial options. My diligence led me to become a broker. We are in every deregulated market and represent many different retail energy providers (not just 1 company), supplying both electricity and natural gas. This is important, because we negotiate on the customers behalf to ensure the best rates. Retention is about representing the customer's best interest. The opportunity is big, but it is all about integrity! Best Wishes!

  • @discountenergyplan Yes integrity is a pretty huge part of it. I think 5linx has that reputation as they have been an INC500 company for 4 years in a row along with 800% growth for the last 3 years alone so I am pretty happy to be with them...I appreciate your time and effort on this Steven

  • @nketchen Thank you for your comment! Unfortunately, many companies use high-pressure sales tactics to prey upon uninformed consumers. When we provide an energy quote, real savings are projected based upon historical performance. Our Company negotiates with every energy supplier, in every deregulated market ensuring that you get the very best rates! Email me directly at steve at DiscountEnergyPlan dotcom, and I will be happy to provide you with the education necessary and a no-pressure quote.

  • Mr. Horvath, I was made aware of this recently when a supplier sent a rep to our door. She wanted me to sign up for a 5 year contract, but could not guarantee any savings, only a fixed rate for 5 years. I could not determine if it was a good thing, and her pressure sales made me reject her. Energy seems like a hard thing to shop for to me, and some suppliers are trying to take advantage of our ignorance to lock us into contracts that are possibly not good. Thanks for the video.

  • @nketchen Thanks for your comment - please see my reply posted to this video as a comment.

  • Thank you for your compliment. As for the copyright - it took a lot of time to gather the information and then create this video. I personally help businesses save money, and I use this video and other information pieces that I have created as a way to both gather awareness and attract new customers. Again, thanks for watching and commenting!

  • very informative... but why did you copyright this??? is someone going to steal this informative video about energy deregulation? (i can see CC usage but...copyrighting something like this, that informs the public on something this important just seems ridiculous)

    thanks again for the video!

  • Very Informative
