Disgraceful. Boycott Sea World and all national/state and private aquariums holding large mammals and other large marine species. It's like keeping eagles in cages.
@richorcaonyt read this document please, and than state the previous comment again. There are cetaceans from the drive fisheries imported in the US. And this is a recent document. marine-mammals-file-no-15014

@richorcaonyt apart from going and chosing which dolphins they want... totally nothing. They just decide which don't die.

1) Representatives from the captive display and scientific research communities, who
vehemently opposed hearings leading up to the passage of the Marine Mammal
Protection Act, were, ironically, later appointed to the Scientific Advisory Committee
of the Marine Mammal Commission. In 1973, just after the Marine Mammal
Protection Act was enacted into law, National Marine Fisheries Service approved,
without holding a public hearing, an "economic hardship" permit.

2) This permit allowed
Sea World to capture about 80 marine mammmals to stock its new park in Orlando,
Florida. The speed of the permit authorisation was largely due to to the efforts of Sea
World's able lobbyist, George Steele. Steele also represented the American Tunaboat
Association (Regenstein, 1975). To this day, representatives and lobbyists of the
captive industry continue to assault, influence, and challenge further regulations
effecting captive marine mammals. -Jerye Mooney
