i agree as well, but they were singing to the space which they were singing in. if they had sung it faster, it would just be an echoing (but still probably beautiful) jumble in the huge cathedral.
@KrogerHomie when you have some practical experience under your belt you will have learned that variations in performance tempo are a function of the acoustic characteristic of the room.
Tempo is perfect. The music is perfect. You will hear this when you die ... if you are good.

@KrogerHomie You cannot sing the songs of Tomas Luis de Victoria in a faster tempo because his compositions have traces of a Gregorian chant.
