  • Why would you intentionaly go to New Jersey??

  • PA-30's are the almost the best, the only thing better? A PA-39 :P

  • The PA-39 is the last twin comanche produced by piper. there are a couple of differences, mostly small, but the big one is the counter rotating engines. If you are on top of your game, the need for a counter rotating engine is not necessary. It is nice to have thought. I am told that indeed that having a counter rotating engine is more costly. Neverthless, it appears we are in agreement about the twin comanche - they are great airplanes. it is my favorite one so far. Thanks for your note.

  • @sducey I think the only things better about counter rotating props are the fact that it has no critical engine and I also heard it has slightly better climb and takeoff performance. But yes I think it is a slight bit more expensive.

  • @sducey The PA-39 would be nice if there were an STC to swap the 2 engines, making the contra-rotating like the Lightning. Otherwise the PA30B is about 10kn faster, with both engines turning the same direction. And with the Roberson STOL kit you have, there is no critical engine, it stalls before it runs out of rudder....

  • thanks again. you are right in your conclusions about a critical engine. by the way i have more videos on vimeo. just do a search of sducey and youshould be able to find it. tried to copy this link, but was unable to do so.i will try to send it via private message.

  • @sducey OK thanks I'd like to see more of your vids. I am 15 and my dad is an airline pilot but we also have an Arrow 200 II but my dad wants a PA-39.

  • The Twin Comanche is an excellent aircraft, what other twin cruises at 160 TAS, burns 60 lt/hr and carries 4 people with full fuel near 7hr endurance with tip tanks fitted. Top video thanks for posting, slight criticism you'll find you don't come over the keys and then just cut the power to idle in these things, they will just flop onto the ground (nose wheel first)!!! I also agree with embpic comment. But well done!

  • Thanks for the kind words. It is a shame that Piper no longer builds the PA-30. I have a Robertson STOL kit on my plane, if you carry power you will skip down the runway. Dumping flaps eliminates that - however, just don't grab the wrong lever!! :-) Will post more videos. I am on my way to the Bahamas in my PA-30...LIFE IS GOOD WHEN YOU FLY A PA-30. Thanks for the note.

  • @MrAviation1986 Just a comment, but the PA-30 is still the most economical twin and very fast!

  • Nice video. Just one little criticism. It really is not a good idea to retract flaps or mess with fuel pumps while you are rolling out. Wait till you clear the runway or are at a taxi speed. No need to rush. You have more important things needing your attention (keeping the plane on the runway and decelerating). Just a little advice.

  • Love the Twin Comanche! I fly one also, photo stories under MrMwgray2. After seeing your video I am convinced I need to move away from photo stories and into video as well! I like what you did with the video and would be interested in how you recorded the intercom on your camcorder. I would imagine you plugged into one of the ships empty phone jacks but where can I find the patch cable to connect into the camcorder.

  • Thanks. There is a product sold by Aircraft Spruce that allows you to record the radio. However, that is all it records. You get NO airplane sound. So I purchased a splitter. Engine in one channel and voices in another. If you need more details than this let me know. This all depends on the camcorder you have. I have a Sony. Good luck.

  • Nice job mixing the sound from the head sets / engin / background music. Did you use any special jacks to accomplish this?
