  • I just made one, I was inspayerd by les claypool

  • oh my god you did make it. thats badass im friggin makin one.

  • @frizzlefry420oh LMAO youre cute. thanks for the comments and the interest. its always nice to have other Les fans stumble upon me and share the love. I actually just got a new BADASS pickup for the ol skramola... Its a fishman double bass pickup ment for an acoustic upright. But now the pickup is SO awesome, I have to reconstruct the bridge peice due to rocking from the string sawing. but hey, thats the beauty of it. evolution. do ya one better heh

  • @DisgustipatedUlaji you see, im a DIEHARD claypool fan. ive seen his, but i can honestly say i think id rather have one as badass as yours. but like you said evolution so imma start off tadpole stage n go with a simple one (like les uses) then go from there. how tall should it be? can i use a old cheapo guitar pickup. how can i tell if wood is pressure treated? lol. sorry for the questions but i NEED to have one.

  • @frizzlefry420oh it took about 130-150$ to make it. not bad compared to 900 or 1,200 Ive seen. Pressure treated wood will be in the lumber section and the tint of the wood looks green compared to other planks of pine that seen fairly light. The label may say "weather treated". same thing. I just messured it out by the length of the strings I wanted to use. Use reg. bass strings its shorter, use upright, taller. If you use Upright strings, the stretchier the better.

  • @frizzlefry420oh also i started with a clamp on pickup by cherub. now I have the fishman double bass pick up. I have to revamp the bridge now, and I'll be sure to post the changes of the sight and sound.

  • @frizzlefry420oh also about the guitar pick up, if you use bass strings the guitar pickup wont read all the deep frequencies. if you have it hooked to a sound effect for bass, some of your settings may not even work. technically you could make it smaller with a higher tone and just use the Mid. E string from a guitar. also, pressure treated wood, not the best for installing pickups. hardwood would be better for the pressure over time on the instrument. thats why I got a clamp first.

  • Oh, and I think your piece is beautiful, so please don't take the cathedral comment as disrespect!

  • @unklejade lmao i couldnt take any offense if i wanted to. all thats happened here is someone has been inspired by the mistakes and brave forward pushing of my own will to do what most only think about, if even. any of us can do these things, we just have to want to. I'm honored and humbled by your love and will to pass the torche and to hold it yourself. Shine on crazy diamond

  • I accept your challenge! Mine may not look like it was made out of little bits of cathedral seating, but it's gonna have character! I'll shoot you a link as soon as I finish it.

  • where did you get the trim/wood piece for the main body? it's really cool and does add much character to the instrument.

  • @triplet86 Lowes trim dept. near the crown, chairail, and baseboard.

  • you made it wrong

  • @oatsintheoven and the point of this comment is...?

  • It is about time you posted all your hard work up here for people to see. Now you need to make Steve write some lyrics and write a badass song with that beast!

  • @jcivib17 we'll see about that bub. he might write some lyrics about battlefield, or Madden. but Im sure he's down for making some magic with the whamola

  • if only you have electric guitar.. wich i dont :(

  • @kakitk 1 electric ibanez 1 acoustic/electric dean flying v, 1 5 string fretless bass, 1 4 string fretted bass, 1 whamola, 1 rain maker, 1 carved reed flute, 1 didgorido ( can never remember how to spell that , lol) and now I'm in the proccess of converting a childs guitars into a 4 string traveling acoustic bass... with much help from my local music store custom/repair department. I come in with the crazy idea, and they tell how I can do it without tearing the instrument apart.

  • @DisgustipatedUlaji ibanez?... i prefer gibson or... prs... but... ok fine)) btw your feet looks cute)

  • @kakitk LOL oh no youre one of those! feet ticklin' and suckin' toes, huh? heheh

  • @DisgustipatedUlaji how dare you?! *blushes*

  • I want to play with you :)
