Everyone on here keeps giving poor flood gate man all the heat, I think the real jerk here is Ricky. If I was a ghost coming back to warn someone I'd just show up like "Hey Mike, your brothers gonna die when he goes fishing, might wanna get on that". I wouldn't show up for 2 days being all creepy, walking slowly towards my friend hand outstreched, saying his name creepily thus scaring the hell out of him...come to think that's why Mike couldn't go fishing in the 1st place to protect Ben :S

If Ricky didn't come back in the first place to warn Mike, he would have been there to save Ben in the first place, Thus making Ricky a jerk...scaring people so they think he has done something amazing, like preventing a death that is his fault for causing. But no, he comes back, scares the hell out of Mike, makes him sick, Ben goes fishing without him and almost dies (which I'm assuming traumatized the guy) Then takes glory for preventing it.

@2FatGuysandAPizza how would ricky save ben while not coming back as a ghost in the first place? if there was no ghost, there would be no one to save ben. if ricky came back as a ghost and instead just warned ben, i believe that either he would be too shocked to really listen to him, or not have any signifigance on him, since mike was the one that saw ricky die and also was his best friend.

@serpico89 Mike was originally going to go fishing with Ben, meaning if something bad was going to happen Mike would have been there to help. But then Ricky decides to come back and then makes Mike sick and he can't go. Then he warns Mike that Ben is in danger. But as I have previously said, if Ricky hadn't have come back there wouldn't have been anything to worry about because Mike would have been there to begin with

Why didn't he tell the guy on the bridge to not open to dam? because this show comes from the period of most shows where the adults treat the teens and children like idiots. In which if he said "Don't open the dam!" instead of the guy asking "Why?" he would reply "Get out of here kid!".

Plus by attempting to do it yourself it increases the dramatic effect of the storyline.

Physics-that makes sense, but then again, he didn't know that Ben was trapped in the rocks and that the man opening or not opening the dam was going to be life and death. For instance, his brother could have fallen into the creek and hit his head, or been on the bridge and been hit by a car. So, I think that's why he didn't tell the man not to open the dam.
