I liked this as a kid, but it also brings back another memory. At the place I work at, the lady who was once the head baker there would always bake special cookies for employees when it was their birthday, just like Cookie's imaginary one. That was such a nice thing to do and she was a really sweet lady. Unfortunately she's gone now and they don't do that anymore. I really miss that. I actually showed this to her once and said it reminded me of her and her birthday cookies. She enjoyed that.
I had an LP with this clip back in 1974. The album was called "C is for Cookie". The harp sound was later used for "The Price is Right" in pricing games like 'Golden Road' and 'Punch-A-Bunch'.
.....when he was waken from his dream. He vows to never eat cookies again. From now on he eat healthier treats. He eats carrots, fish, and whole-wheat-bread. And then eat a cookie and say "Maybe sometime a cookie."
The Monster Cookie: If you only eat cookie, You will become at cookie forever! (Echoing forever)
Cookie Monster: NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
(Dream ends)
Cookie Monster: (As he wakes up!) This is Catastrophe.. Huh! What a horrible nightmare!
Anybody got the one where Cookie Monster dreams about "The Monster Cookie"? It was first seen somewhere in the early 90's. It was a like proto-type version of "Healthy Habit for Life." Cookie Monster finally gave up a cookie after a dream of meeting "The Monster Cookie." The Monster Cookie was a blue furry monster also. But he only ate cookies. And only eating cookies has turned him into a cookie (forever). This is catastrophe. Cookie Monster was scared and frighten.....
'WITH CANDLES!' - When Cookie says this line, all self-control goes out the window as he confuses real with imaginary! Another great memory involving perhaps my favorite muppet - Cookie Monster!
I just like how Cookie Monster goes overboard at the end: "Even IMAGINARY cookie taste good! ALL cookies taste good!" A birthday cookie would be fun, I gave my daughter a large birthday donut!
*sigh* Oh, OK. But being as you are a Mom, it would probably taste better with a Mom's love. Mom's always come up with the best stuff. Necessity is the mother of invention, I guess.
I once created Giant Cookies, but they never would get done completely in the middle. My kids always liked the dough better anyway, but then, so do I!
When I first saw this (30+ years ago), I recall that I thought how strange and unusual it was...who ever heard of a birthday cookie instead of a birthday cake. That of course was a good 20 years before Mr Kay's and those other cookie shops opened.
Is that Simon the Soundguy?

Those darn imaginary cookies... putting the hard working bakers out of business....

Well consider this.
The baker can't see the imaginary cookie so to him CM is just eating air which makes it more interesting.

Look carefully at 1:42 and pause it. CM made that last bite with great accuracy! In a split second (1:43), he may have knocked the camera too! ROFL

You should research a birthday cookie and post the recipe here. Or better yet, invent one!
brightbite 4 years ago
It's hardly original with me. A good bakery could probably whip one up if you ask. I've seen them in those cookie shops in the mall.

Cool. I somehow kind of knew you made big cookies like that for your kids. It was 'written' all over your last response. What a cool mother you are!
