  • I have tried this with my horse, and she's fine with the rope being on her leg and everything but as soon as she starts to go down she panics a bit, like the first attempt your horse had on the video but does that more. Any suggestions? I'm going to give it another go after watching this video and then I'll tell you what goes on! :) Thank you!

  • @ogabumwaggle Your welcome and yeah thats verry normel for her to panic quit a few times studley did to at first but a couple days of worken with him he started getting better and better each time, She will finely get ust to the idea of you wonting her to lay down on command and that you ant going to hurt her when she lay's dawn for you just keep up the good work n i promis you she will lay down for ya :)

  • @Brittney42638 ah ok thank you! I tried again today and I got her to bow which is a starting point I suppose but I will keep you updated on how our progress is going! :) Thank you :)

  • @ogabumwaggle Your welcome yeah thats pritty good :)

  • I'm thinking about teaching my 18 year old Saddlebred gelding to lay down & do otherr tricks since I've decided not to show him. Yesterday I taught him to rear up under saddle on command and he picked up on it right away. Do you have any advice for teaching him to lie down??

  • @Ponypal95 First startin out you need to use a saddle. you need to take a rope and put it on his leg and walk him around with it on so he know's it wont hert him about 2 or 3 times and dont let people tell you it herts the horse because it dont lol after your horse is use to the rope pull his leg up and rap it 2 times around the saddle he might jump and rear and hope but thats normel just apply a little bit of preshure on the same side the leg thats pulled up he and he should lay down

  • Did he eventually learn to lie down without using the ropes, or do you still need the ropes to do it? I'm trying to teach my Haflinger to lie down.

  • @OlliMSa Yeah he did after i kept worken with him allought like twice a week... I still do use rops sometimes thow bc its way easyer to pull his leg up...lol Thats Cool its pritty easy after they get ust to it... :)

  • ok but its furnny cus i will try and turn her with her leg up and she just walks like np lol or she will hop

  • lol WTF >< mym horse is 15 and i try thats she just looks at me all stuped like hello ? XD with her foot up she can rear on comand and do spanish walk :(

  • @lkavaklian4 thats cool my horse can also rear on command and bow... Yeah they will look at yout like that bc they are trying to figure out what your telling them to do... if you keep a constant presher on the rope he/she will hope around and stuff but after a while he/she should tierd and just lay down for you... :)

  • was he like that when you first tried? when i tried my horse was really quite jumpy and everything.

  • @miazz2475 No he kinda hoped around a lil bit but its normal for them to do that only took him a day but some horses are diffrent some take longer to lay down then others....

  • Thankyou, this did help, finally figured out what we were doing wrong with our gelding!!!

  • @supalittlegrasshoppa Your welcom, and im glad it helped :)
