Generally Rats and small rodents will get abcesses from the type of bedding that they are on. Cedar is one of the WORST of the beddings to use for ANY animal. The ONLY bedding ANYONE should use for ANY pet is ASPEN bedding. It costs more and you get less, but what is more important? The safety of your pet, or you saving some money?
' It costs more and you get less, but what is more important? The safety of your pet, or you saving some money?'
who the fuck do you think you are? implying i dont look after my rats properly but I DO! i always put their safety first and can look after them just fine ! especially considering youre WRONG! there are loads of safe beddings like carefresh, yesterdays news etc so fuck off and take your gay attempt at advice elsewhere
My rat, Templeton, had an abscess on his neck. The vet said, at first, that it was a mammary tumor. After it burst on its own, she agreed it was an abscess. Even with the antibiotics, it reformed. When it popped, I treated it the way a vet had told me to treat my cat when he lanced and drained some on him. So far, it has not come back.
you should find a new vet! everyone makes mistakes, its natural, but when rats make mistakes like that with rats its generally because they dont give a crap, its a 10 minute walk to my nearest vet but i made my granny drive me to a far away one where i knew my rat would get treated fairly like a cat or a dog. cant say i particularly liked the vet dude but he helped my rat and the receptionist was lovely so all was well in the end ^_^
I found that my rat had one on his face right now. I didn't see it yesterday.
Did she do well with the surgery?
