  • I mean just the fact that some people think that these things 'should' with such a strong emphasis be whatever, are on the wrong and ugly track.

  • Beautiful boy, inside and out!

  • we still love u johnny!

  • That's a cool answer Johnny. You're always diplomatic while remaining true to yourself and usually bring a surprise comeback. You are never timid with your point of view and it always sounds so all accepting and politically correct. I smell talk show.

  • Right on!

  • You Rock Johnny...and secetly they all just want to bone you. so give em your ass to kiss, if you can stand those vultures getting that close to you!!!

  • YOU GO DUDE!!!!!!!

  • YOU GO GURL!

  • very cute!!

  • LOVE Johnny Weir!!!

  • JOHNNY WEIR IS AWESOME!! :) HE'S SOOO AMAZING!!

  • hahaha, I love it, especially the end. SO TRUE...

  • EXACTLY what I was thinking. The strength, power, and focus in figure skating is just as difficult--if not more so--as "macho" as any other sport. Skating takes more practice than almost any other sport in the world. It's an art that takes years and years of practice and some people just don't realize or respect that. It's a shame that such an amazing art form is looked down upon and considered "gay" by so many people in society. Johnny Weir's an athletic and aesthetic genius.

  • GO JOHNNY

  • Excellent Response, Johnny! And veryy true. My favorite part?.."They wanna see spandex men hitting each other's asses and throwing a ball. " ..now which sport is "gayer"?

  • Johnny Weir is more man than so many of the so-called Macho Men. He is 100% at home with who he is, and that takes more courage and personal integrity than the majority of the" Manly Men" will ever have!

  • so am i, i hate it when people say urgh it's soo gay, but they don't skate and wake up at 5.30 to go to the rink and train for 2 hours who cares if theyre straight or not you have to have respect for these fantastic athletes and the beauty of the sport

  • From Russia with love for Johnny..

  • I don't like "butch" figure skating. Johnny is so graceful and artistic. I don't like how some of them try to make it so "manly". They can be men, but please be graceful, I don't want to watch some guy flail around with his chest puffed out trying to prove that figure skating is manly. It's a sport where grace and delicacy are key in making a good watchable performance.

  • go johnny at the last comment, i couldnt stop laughing for like 5 minutes !

  • Bahahaha! I laughed for about 5 minutes at that last comment. damn! if only we could see the reaction of that other guy haha.

I totally agree with Johnny and am glad he isn't caving into the PC pressure. I think this macho stuff is bullshit. if you have to be macho to wear sequins now, then I don't want to live in this world anymore.

  • lol.. he made it sound not so different! hahaha..

  • haha the last part was hella fuhny!

    lol

    i love you

    GO JOHNNY

  • 2-time Olympian Johnny Weir is so smart and talented.

And he has his own documentary (Pop Star on Ice, 2009) and his own TV Show (Johnny Be Good, January 2010 on Sundance Channel). He's 23 and has been competing internationally as a figure skater since he was 12. A hard-core athlete, he's witty, out, unapologetic, lyrical, talented--he's the best the USA has to offer.

  • the critics are wrong--and out of touch. this includes HBO and NBC, and their "personalities". that figure skating requires more grace and agility than the average man can muster has never been a secret. johnny weir represents the contemporary paradigm of not needing to be anyone other than who he is in order to embody that grace, and to attract so many to the sport. he is the consummate embassador, old paradigm TV networks--pay attention!!

    love to johnny always.

  • I totally agree with Johnny's comments, but, I have to admit that I really do miss the dynamic athleticism of his earlier programs, which garnered praise for his abilities, instead of scorn for his style.

  • In *some* countries the machoism has gone so far, many are becoming blind to art. It's sad really. Their lack of understanding of art does not discredit the event or the performer, any more than the lack of understanding of Picasso's art discredits him or his works. Figure skating fuses technical mastery with artistic virtuosity, it mesmerizes me and I'm perfectly straight. It's simple pursuit of art by pushing a human body to its limits. I pity those who are blind to it.

  • Sorry bryanbhu! I meant to click the thumbs up thingo, but accidentally clicked the other one. Sorry! I absolutely agree with your comment.

  • his personality is brilliant

  • I love this kid, he rocks!

  • hahaha omg that ending line was brilliant. great head on the shoulders of such a talented guy :)

  • more to the point, do you?

  • who is this dude?

  • Bryant Gumbel still exists?

  • lol i always thought that was really gay how they slap the ass

  • Great sence of humor Johnny!!!!! I love you!

  • I love his atitude as a str8 woman I want him to kick ass just because men will be men they suck cock in public and behind closed doors! LOL

  • Having not seen the entire interview, I am very familiar with the HBO Sports program. For Johnny to do an interview is a set-up from the beginning, for this program is not true journalism. The questions in this brief video clip alone are set up to make him look bad. Someone should have told him not to do this interview. Never apologize, Johnny. You're a true talent that transcends this sport.

  • I bet his dad is real proud

  • theres a reason why i love johnny weir

  • good thing your not gay cause that would be weird.

  • He's a jerk for wearing FUR.

Johnny why don't you go see what its like when a fox is killed to make the trim for your costume!

  • douchebag

  • lawl

  • i absolutely adore johnny weir, he is beautiful in every way. i have never seen anyone more graceful and beautiful on the ice.

  • What most people don't seem to understand is how exhausting and demanding this sport is. Johnny Weir has a KILLER body, and it's because of the hours spent practicing and competing, every day. He's an amazing skater, who cares if he is gay, he's going to the Olympics and he's going because he has worked his ass off for it, and is an awesome talent. I hope he gets the gold, he deserves it.

  • He's effeminate but no less macho? He sure isn't a vocab whiz.

  • this is why I don't watch figure skating.............

  • i love his personality sfm! he is amazing and isnt afraid to show it:)

  • personality? LOL this guy has about as much personality as a sponge

  • Yes, it does make you less macho than the macho guy. It just doesn't make you less of a man...PEACE.

  • I LOVE this guy. Hadn't paid any attention to figure skating in years, but he's got that "IT" factor...and he's just exciting to watch. =)

  • these figure skating guys must get loads of women.

  • @LaiskaKettu Thats funny.

  • (oh I see... YOU'RE KIDDING!)

  • i love johnny's personality. he seems to be really genuine *^_^*

  • Genuine people wear fake fur. Johnny wears the fur of dead animals.
