I think it is time that the Japanese government and her people has to totally get rid of their hegemony mentality and policy. It is the high time to save the Ryukyu language!!! Long live RYUKYU LANGUAGE!!!

... seeing people purposefully WANT to forget a language does not make them look "cool," it makes them look ignorant and stupid. So sad that is the prevailing attitude. That said, a language dies or is forgotten when people stop using it to communicate. People stop using a language in light of a more common and influential language. Now, in Okinawa, it's "Yamatogo." In the future, maybe it'll be English. Those who forget their roots die as a people.
