well my shop has friday night magic should i go or ask if they have a less competitive event so i can learn i really want to bring my friend we used to p lay yugioh
@bellboy128 Hmm...Friday Night Magic is the lowest type of event you can join. I guess you should just go for it and enter it. At the shop I go to some of people helped me out and gave me tips when I told them it that I just started playing and it was my 1st time at a FNM.
@bellboy128 FNM has 3 different formats 1.Draft: they'll give you packs that you pick 1 card out of each and pass it to the next person 2.Standard: you use a constructed deck you made yourself from your collection, but you can only use cards in the current blocks and sets. Right now, you can use only cards from Zendikar, Worldwake, Rise of the Eldrazi, M11, and Scars of Mirrodin. 3.Sealed: they give you 6 boosters and you build a deck using only cards in those boosters, they provide the lands.
@NightfalconIV they all sound hard to play... for draft and seal do they provide the lands? or only for sealed? and generally how much is the entrance fee? or participation fee w/e
@xrikimarux It's mostly luck in sealed since you might get cards that work together well or you might get none that go together.
I'm not sure about other stores but the local shop I go to provides lands for both but they don't get lands for free from magic anymore and ask for the lands back after the event.
Also stores might charge differently, I get charged 25 for sealed, 15 for draft, and 5 for standard type-2 FNM.
@NightfalconIV i see, thanks, also how do you use Jace? or Planeswalkers? i see number next to effect, what does it mean? are those paying with counters or life? and there only number 3 on the bottom does it mean its a 3/3? and for commander can they be played in the game like to attack and stuff? and can they die? sorry im trying to learn all these new rules and crap. i suck at magic but last time i collected was kamigawa.
@xrikimarux The number on the bottom is the number of Loyalty the planeswalker has when it enters the battlefield
The numbers next to the abilities is number of loyalty it needs to be used
if it has a + sign next to the number, it adds to the number of loyalty and if its - you take off that many counters If the planeswalker runs out of loyalty it dies
Planeswalkers dont attack unless it has an ability to change into a creature like Gideon
I got into it since my friends were into magic. They weren't that hardcore into magic so I was able to catch up in skill level. After than, we just kept playing and started to go to tournaments after we felt more confident.
So yeah, it sounds like your buddy isn't that into it. If you don't mind playing and learning from the people at the shop then go for it. But it's a lot funner when you have friends with you so you guys can get better together and share ideas on making better decks.
i think you should play magic and wats ur gamer tag for ps3

They can be attacked, a 2/2 takes off 2 loyalty
