A large part of the humor for me is trying to imagine everything that happened to Mitchell to make him the lonely, damaged human being he's become. It shouldn't be funny, but it's just so subtle and subversive I can't help but laugh.

Don't get me wrong - I love it! The whole series is refreshingly original, and the humour is great! Yet at the same time it's unabashedly disturbing, and unsettling to watch. Which (in this instance) is a good thing.
