  • I don't understand why in every video of Can I watch, there's ALWAYS a comment about radiohead and things. I don't know why everybody says that.

  • @Ultimatesadventures You're doing the exact same now, mate :)

But it's funny to listen to Halleluhwah and Radiohead's Talk Show Host in comparison. Everybody borrows.

  • Can invented Radiohead and a bunch of other bands. Legendary band for sure.

  • They did not set the Drum & Bass movement in motion, what a ridiculous statement, and they were not the first to "sample" sounds.

This is just nostalgic romanticism, Can were one of many bands influenced by a whole host of things that were happening in jazz/electronic music/and popular music.

They were engaging in A type of combinatroialism that is typical of what came to be referred as post-modernism. The only thing "new" about Can was the way they combined existing forms, many bands did this

  • @digimaton I think you're right - to say they invented Drum & Bass is misleading. But their use of 'motorik' drumming and repetative two-note bass patterns was very original and must have influenced a lot of musicians later.

  • Thanks for posting! Why no Holger?

  • Dunno, it seems strange alright. I'm not quite sure why they were on the news either!

  • Haha, yeah, I love the concept. Breaking news, there was a band formed in cologne 30 years ago.

Glad to see them getting much deserved credit from anywhere.

  • ;-)
