My little brother's best friend gave up a shot at the MLB Pros to be an Airborne Ranger. He died in Afghanistan in July of 2010, weeks before he was going to be on leave. This song always touches my heart. On April 28, 2010, I lost my 27 yr old son in a mining accident. THis songs speaks volumes about how a broken heart feels. As I have endured to almost the one year anniversary of his death, I have passed thru many phases of grieving. I find one of the things I miss the most is his beautiful smile. I listen to this song and even though it's more for a lost (human) loved one, it takes me back to vet's office and putting down my rabbit. I only had her for 3 years, but she was my first pet and my bestfriend i could always count on when everyone else seemed to not care. I miss her so much. My little brother's best friend gave up a shot at the MLB Pros to be an Airborne Ranger. He died in Afghanistan in July of 2010, weeks before he was going to be on leave. I knew this man since he was five. It kills me, this song was played during his funeral and it was so suiting. Beautiful song. It not for being in my uniform I would have lost it. what to say....Who knows why life turns out the way it does, who knows why there is so much pain in this world, who knows that even though we all feel pain we still can be so evil to one another. I lost my grandfather that I was sooo close with and the trick is knowing how to move on....days, weeks, months...time goes on but it still so painful.
