Players talk shit to refs all the time, refs job is to ignore, noone in the audience knows what's going on. That's how it works, I guess this guy just decided not to take any more shit and since he's a linesman he can't give him a penalty so he just dealt with it himself.
For all you know, the player might have deserved it.
im a ref, and i honestly dont know what happened, and cannot justify what the ref did, or why the ref left the ice. especially why the ref left the ice.
refs cant do shit, the kid cant skate thats all this video shows, players have almost full protection from the front, poor kid got pushed or slapped oh god lets freak out
I dont blame the linesmen for what he did. They dont need to take shit from the players. When I get shit from the coaches or players I give them a warning and they continue so I kick them out. The linesmen or the Referees dont want to put up with that shit. They are there to make the game as fun as possible and when they have kids bitching at them its kind of hard to make it fun. Next time the kid might think before he talks.
not all of them are good lot of them can't keep up with the play . they miss a goal the call penaltys when they are not penaltys. thats y players get made and fight
@skatingwithyou You never lay a hand on a kid. If what the ref did was on purpose he is trash. You call a penalty or kick the player out. Once an adult crosses the line and touches a child he is automatically in the wrong. If a ref ever lays hands on my kid im filing charges I don't care what the refs side is. Their on the ice to keep order and keep the game honest and teach the kids good sportsmanship. As soon as they lay a hand they should be charged. Their in a position of Authority.
@fready69 In some cases it is wrong. But think about it this way. If your kid was given a bad hit or is on the bad end of a fight that he didn't even see coming would you want the ref to tackle one or both of them or would you want him to try to get the other kid to stop just by telling him to? I have a friend that was in a fight and when the ref took him down he broke one of my friends ribs. My friend pushed the ref off of him. (it looked and probably felt like a punch only with both hands)
The ref reported him to USA hockey who called him in for a trial type thing. He got suspended for 30 games because a ref broke one of his ribs. It happens.
who cares what the kid said. Referees are on the ice to make calls and protect the kids from fighting or getting hurt. So it doesnt matter if the kid said something, the ref should not have touched him.
kid was probably running his mouth like his mother in the background because hes a spoiled little brat, and was complaining about a call, shut up and play the freakin game! And who are these people at this game that just go back to regular conversation after some kid gets leved by an adult?
Actually, the person filming this and talking is not his mother. Second, he's not spoiled. (yes, I do know him) The ref had been harrassing him through the whole tournament. He had just insulted the teen and the teen answered him back. That is when this so called adult, and I use the term loosely, put his hands on a minor. Maybe you should get your facts straight before making comments like this. There were people off camera, including his father that confronted the ref. Now you know.
Thanks christian, why to end your statement like a WWE superstar lol. "If you don't know, now you know!" Yeah, I'm so sure that a ref had a reason to talk trash to a kid playing hockey, I'm sure he singled out that one kid out of all of them for no reason, Im sure that kid didn't say one thing to the ref. You expect me to believe that some kid that plays hockey (hockey kids tend to be brats, trust me I know), didn't say one thing to that ref.
Actually I did say that the kid did say something back to the ref after the ref had been bothering him all weekend. I do know this kid, and no one that knows him would call him mouthy. But that doesn't mean he won't stick up for himself when being picked on. I'm not sure why everyone wants to think the worst of the kid and not the ref who actually physically assaulted him. That really baffles me. And it's too bad that the hockey kids you know tend to be brats...they all aren't that way.
it is possible, when i played baseball as a kid i knew the mpire and he was dick and he would insult me when i was at bat, the only way to shut him u was throwing the bat after i swung >:D
I'm sure that the ref is just crazy, because they do that all the time you know, talk trash to kids until the kid says something, oh wait thats the other way around, you weren't on the ice, and I know either was I, but I promise you that that punk kid was complaining about a call that he did or didn't get. No matter what, I'm sure that kid had a little Karma coming his way. Either way, go REF! "If you smell what the Rock. . . is cooking" Oh I'm sorry, isn't that how we end comments?
Neither were you on the ice, but there were alot of witnesses that will say the ref was an ass. Don't know how you can say differently if you don't know anyone that was there. It's a shame that you think you know what happened when you really don't have a clue. It's a sad state of affairs when you think it's fair that a grown man in a position of authority has the right to assault a child. I shouldn't expect anything less from someone who quotes a wrestler.
clearly you didn't get that I was making fun of you for your wrestler quote at the end of your quote. Anyway, where did I say that it was okay for the ref to assault a child? I know the ref was wrong I'm just saying that mabye you need to talk to whoever hired this guy because he hired a nut job and didn't even know it. Because that's what it takes to knock down a kid who barely said one thing to you.
