  • Did he make it; where she did not..? That is...

  • And Urge Overkill...Did a little research since the original seemed to have some real heart behind it and lead singer's mom committed suicide at 38yrs of age. Very very sad...I always thought singer of Hot Chocolate was beyond singing just a song...sad Sisters and Urge do very respectful, if not chilling, versions, for sure -- old school industrial kid here (well, 38)

  • Quality, Hot choc fan n small time Sis merc fan, good cover.

  • I guess I can't leave a normal link... duh vampiretap dotcom slash songs :P

  • I did a cover of this song that is certainly more like the sisters version than the original Hot Chocolate version... Emma 2006 I originally did this in about 1997

  • The best cover version of any song ever.......period......

  • this version is so full of emotions and combined with the stunning sound a great cover

  • nice ty !!!

  • ever better than the original...love hot chocolate though

  • It's a cover

  • very nice song,very nice voice,top

  • One of their best songs... Who wrote the original (some one in here claims it's a cover) and is "Mariann" also a cover since the CD cover 'says' "version"?

  • The Emma original is by the 70s Disco Band Hot Chocolate.

Mariann though is not a cover. And there are no different versions, it's just the name. Eldritch somewhere explained the reason.

  • okay, thanks... will probably check out the emma original... sounds pretty weird that the sisters covered a 70s disco band...

  • User alaf22 has a decent version of the original. Definitely check it out! They had a killer bass.

The Sisters also played ABBA and Dolly Parton live!

  • @MrThomasdrewsen

the original version is really good !!!!

  • @MrThomasdrewsen I can't say that song was ever disco...?

  • @kittylover555 I guess you're right.. what then? soul?

  • @RubenvonZwack

mh yes he said marian was called "version" because the record company said the lyrics where too quiet. (mh i think in reggea music a piece with only insturmental and without lyrics ist called version...)

I like the sisters version of emma a lot better than the original because eldritch sings the song like he means it like emma is his girlfriend that commited suicide after her dreams where shattered... with so much feeling, how he cries at the end of the song :)

  • emma was originally by a band called hot chocolate, and marian was done in a few different versions with different music and lyrics....

  • @ missmorgueanna - thanks, I stand corrected. Wasn't aware there were different versions of Mariann!

  • @MrThomasdrewsen you can see that, they are hot chocolate

  • simply a poem!! music & lyric.

  • great epic cover-song.

    magnificent creation.
