Some of the best eating is the plain old American snapping turtle.....I've seen them as big as 105 pounds and there is plenty of meat on them....either par boil it, then bread it and fry the meat...OR use it in stew or soup. If you haven't tried it don't bother to comment. You don't know how good it is. There is NO shortage of snapping turtles because hardly anybody bothers with them.

I had turtles as pets as a little kid. A very long time ago, somebody somewhere (don't recall)talked me into eating turtle soup. I DO recall that I wasn't impressed, especially since I remembered playing with my pet turtles. Seems the Chinese will eat just about anything to exctinction. Hope turtles never show up on my favorite Chinese restaurant's menu. I don't think that would go over well in the US.
