  • need the second part of that tune

  • Afro beat, collectif. Fela is alive...

  • if this was a bit faster this would be a dope ass breakbeat

  • @demonic4ce that's what pitch control is for, homie.

  • @demonic4ce and still dope for some warmup uprock, right?

  • topfunk 5/5,same category as budos, check also cave man,and ape man from the jimmy castor bunch, for some mindblowin funk...

  • du lourd lourd lourd oué

  • du lourd!!

  • Nice, very nice.

  • this is the nastiest, darkest, dirtiest funk i've ever heard. 5/5

  • There's group called "The Budos Band" and they are the closest to The Daktaris as far as I know so far. Check their track called "Up From The South, Eastbound" Very The Budos Band-ish! :D

  • Good call. Budos has some great stuff, too!

  • EDIT: I meant "Very The Daktaris-ish"

  • It's closer to Afrobeat i guess.

    but 5/5 i agree ^^

  • i've been long time looking for you!!!

  • hahaha! always love this band.

I once heard that the meaning of Daktaris is something like group of elephants dashing out of control or something. Anyone knows if it's true?

  • I read that "Daktaris" is Swahili for "doctors", but I don't know if that's true.

i DO know that their lone alblum Soul Explosion kick ass!

  • awesome sounds I have recently brought this album.

  • yeah yeah I got this LP too, one of the best funkiest albums I have ever heard....load up the track "Super Afro Beat" one of the sickest songs ever. I believe some of the members of this band went on to Antibalas.....

  • Interesting. According to Wikipedia, the Daktaris were not african at all. They were comprised of studio musiciansin Brooklyn. There was great interest in the group by Afro funk enthusiasts, but the label had to admit that the group wasn't all that african, or even african-american. Nice grooves, though.

  • never mind i just found it ;)

  • hello do you have "Eltsuhg Ibal Lasiti" from the daktaris? i need it bad! :D

  • "It's all a big hustle" spelt backwards...

  • you ain't lying!! that is the straight-up jam!

  • Hello, actually the Daktaris (almost) correctly credit the song to the "Wallais Band of Ethiopia" on the cover. The Wallias Band was led by Hailu Mergia, and Mulatu was one of the members... so that seems okay to me.

  • Mulatu didnt compose this song . It was composed by Girma Beyene. He was an unsung piano player and arranger who was a super close friend of Mulatu. Long live Ethio-Jazz and Ethio music!!

  • great band

    my favourite afrobeat song !!!!!!!!!!

  • heck yeah the daktaris be the shit! wonderful music....no one can not like it. I like Daktaris Walk <----best song they did

  • I love Daktaris' funky groove ;)

  • weeee you lucky bstrd. you got LP !!!! :-)))
