  • what is the resin type uses? It looks absolutely wonderful

  • @blagger56 We used Clear Lite Casting Resin. You can find it at our website in the 'Casting Products' section.

  • artresin is awesome. thanks for sharing.

  • how does this resin hold up to heat, could you i mean me make a square resin to put pots on from the stove?

  • @seymour5575 Great idea, but it is not recommended for that purpose.

  • I have a coffee table with a really neat artistic welded metal underneath but an ugly top. I want to cast a transparent top, but use transparent colored resins within some of the layers. My question is:

Is it possible to cast the entire piece without any wood or fabric, or any type of reinforcement? I would like it to be as crystal clear as possible, but not worried about ripples. I would just like to see the details underneath the table if possible and avoid a lot of scratches on the surface.

  • @hollyrockets It sounds like you are trying to create a clear top suspended over welded art. If that is the case, you will need some way to hold the resin in place as it cures. On the issue of strength, the cured resin should be supported in some way. Finally, there is no way to prevent scratches, but they can be buffed out as they occur.

  • ***** Super cool video *****

  • i just want everybody to know that youtube recommended this for me because i watch a video called "best beer pong dunk".

  • Great video

    Thanks for sharing

  • Does the resin penetrate the sand and bind it all together? If not I'm wondering how you'd cope with an exposed seam of sand along two edges of the finished table.

  • @WalneyCol The sand I used was pretty course and the resin penetrated it. It is possible that very fine sand might resist that penetration. In that case, leave a very small space between the sand and the exposed edge of the table. You could also stir the first pour of resin into the sand, creating a good bond.

  • Cheers tapplastics, that makes perfect sence.

  • Cool project idea.

  • nice, waiting for part 2 :)
