@itsmegp46Im in my mid forties and I remember my parents watching Flip Wilson when i was a kid in the early 70s and I remember Joe Namath making guest appearances on many shows in those days as well as Lynn Swann and him on the box of Wheaties cereal
Joe was a heartthrob back in the day. The way he's cracking up, cracks me up too. My goodness, Geraldine is simply the epitome of comic one liners. The way the character Geraldine is always in a sassy, finger popping, dancing mode continues to amaze us. Love that man. Again RIP
Thank you, thank you for posting this video. I used to LOVE to watch the Flip Wilson show. Talent and comedy at its best. Flip was really, really funny back then and is especially so today when what passes for entertainment really isn't.
We could not leave the house on Tuesday without watching this first. Wonderful, wonderful comedy. I saw Flip Wilson do comedy at the Regal Theater before this ground breaking, top rated show. This is how comedy should be. RIP Flip.

this takes me back to childhood I remember watching the flip wilson show,. sittin' in front of the tv on the shag carpet with my flip wilson doll that i had got at christmas. When you turned him over, the back side was geraldine. There was a string on the doll and when you pulled it you would hear one of flip or geraldine's catch phrases. My favorite of course was geraldine saying "the devil made me buy this dress!" I loved that doll. :-)
Geraldine knew how to make an entrance! She was a force to be reckoned with. Sexy, yes, but never vulgar or crude or mean-spirited. I miss her, and am so enjoying these postings. Thanks.
Everytime I walk pass a guy that I think is hot, I mentally do that little dance Geraldine always does X-P "In the booth. . .in the back. . .in the corner. . .in the dark. . ." ^_^ LOL
I remember The Flip Wilson Show so well even though I was a small child. Geraldine was my ultimate favorite!!!! I even had the Flip Wilson/Geraldine doll that talked........great memories.
PS - Geraldine was a fashion icon! She was always sharp!
Two points: it is interesting to note that Namath and Geraldine are definitely "on the same page." This artificial world of hers is his real world.
Secondly, when you have everything in life--looks, personality, brains, money--the rules of existence change. Instead of saying yes to more and more, you have to say no to more and more. Otherwise you will wind up an impotent alcoholic at 45.
Look at Joe laughing it up so much. That is the sign of a true talent when you can break a straight face. Plus he is not reading it off a cue card like they do on sketch shows now.
This was the America I used to dream of coming to. It was clean, respectable and that sophisticated comedy. Not the hateful and litigious America even in comedy today.
