  • 4:59, the end of "MEEEEE"

I love stephanies battle cry. C:

  • Oh Stephanie!! My mom definitely won the bet when she said Steph would make it to Broadway!

  • not my favorote cast.

  • "A psycho stalker situation"

  • Who is the woman that's interviewed who played Madame Morrible???

  • i love wicked but personally no one beats rachel tucker and louise dearman in london♥

  • galinda is just cute thats all that thare is to her

  • where's Turtle heart!?

  • i want idina and kristen!!! they r amazing!!!!

  • Freak.

  • wow there must have been a re cast wen i saw this cuz the prince was white wen i saw wicked lol but this man who played him was good as well

  • Who are the women who play Madame Morrible and Nessarose in this?

  • @lauren4561001 Madame Morrible is Carol Kane. She was in the old series "Taxi".

  • @lauren4561001 Madame Morrible is Carol Kane. She was in the old TV series "Taxi".

  • Ah I love Stephanie J. Block, I'm not completely sure who I like more between her and Idina. They both bring different things to the role.

  • This is a commercial for Wicked, not a documentary.

  • @sushicourier oh really? I'm so sorry. I made a huge mistake. *being sarcastic* seriously though, does it really matter? lol. It's Wicked! That's all that matters :)

  • It's Stephanie J Block :)

  • Libby must love witches. First, Sabrina the Teenage With, then Wicked :)

  • @phunnychicks haha I know! I actually met her after a performance of Wicked in Hollywood, and she was so nice! I was like wait, aren't you supposed to be evil? lol

  • god i love theatre.

  • I saw wicked and i loves it i really bonded with elphaba cause it sorta scared me in the wizard of oz but now she seems like a whole different person to me

  • 2 people couldn't defy gravity...

  • Madame Morrible looks like she belongs in Il Muto, not Wicked. Like this if you know what Il Muto even is xD

  • I saw the production on West-end a few months ago, and seeing this just makes me feel an combo of excitement and wanting to cry... Wow.

  • not that it should matter, and it doesn't, but i'm glad we've got some black fiyeros(fiyero is black in the novel).

  • I love this musical so much! Now I just have to go see it live, which I want to do so bad! XD Thanks for putting this up :) You love two of my favorite things as I can tell from your username and these videos: Invader Zim and Wicked :P

  • 1:05 what song please tell me

  • @llea325 It's called "For Good". It's on the Wicked soundtrack if you want the full song

  • i just now made that whole, Nazi-Wizard connection

  • Broadway musicals arent shows. They are realationships between music, acting, dancing, casting, directors, visions, stories, arts, a shit load of effort, and the ability to inspire dreaming adolescence!

  • COME TO HAWAII DAMN IT!!! I NEED TO SEE THIS! IF CATS THE MUSICAL ALREADY CAME TO MY HOMETOWN SO CAN THIS!!!!! >='(

  • there's balck and white, but in between there is always a shade of green

  • I like Kristin and Indina a whole lot better!

  • for those who have seen the 1980's movie Scrooge staring Bill Murry, Madam Marbel (Sorry if i spelled that name wrong) plays the ghost of Christmas Present. LOL. it took me 6 years to realize that.

  • I love to see the different aspects each actress brings to the show as Elphaba or Galinda. For instance, Idina protrayed Elphie's innocent, honorable determination and yearn for acceptance whilst Stephanie highlighted her rebelious nature and suspicion. Kristin had a more manipulative Galinda, depicting her guilt at retaining her facade of a political position despite what had happened and Kendra brings a naiveity as derived from Galinda's upbringing. They are all so fantastic and unique!

  • Kerry is the best elphaba

the australian cast is really good to, check them out

  • 2 people couldnt defy gravity!!

  • If you guys read the book, you would also know that Fiyero does have dark skin (with blue diamonds on it, but that wasn't added). So!

  • Awesome! A very intimate look at the characters and their personalitys

  • what is the part at 0:47

  • lol damn @ 3:00 X3

  • i like idina better!!

  • @luv2act976 Idina is Elphaba.

  • i dont really like the glinda in all of these clips- her voice is almost TOO pretty and stuff you know? not silly enough. she just doesnt seem like a glinda to me.

  • For those who have not seen this,

    My condolences.

    Love,

Those of us who Defy Gravity.

  • OMG is it just me or does the girl who plays Nessa ( @3:59) looks like libby from Sabrina the Teenage Witch???

  • @ItalianGirl903 yeah that is her. Lol. I actually met her when she was playing Nessa in LA! She's super nice, and funny :)

  • @ItalianGirl903 yeah i was just looking at her and im like isint she from sabrina the teenage witch

  • @ItalianGirl903 holy fuck balls it is

  • @ItalianGirl903 she is libby hahaha

  • @ItalianGirl903 it is the girl that is in sabrina the teenage witch

  • Whos Galind in this ?x

  • @chair365 Galinda. ;) Kendra Kassebaum. whilst Elphaba was played by Stephanie J Block. :) hope it helps.

  • 1 person missed the like button

  • Now its weird watching the wizard of oz........I now know to much! I <3 Wicked!

  • lamo the boq when he sayes"she has a phyco stalker situation happing" he sayes it like there is no big deal

  • Ommdddd the girl who they show playing Nessa here is From Sabrina the Teenage Witch

  • @javarie19 thats the first thing I noticed! I just paused it and was looking at the comments to see whoelse realized that lolz

  • i havent seen it. i feel a void inside me

  • i love this but i wish they would have done it when it was kristen and idina... they brought those characters to life, and i can never picture anyone else as the proper glinda or elphaba!!!! i hope they play their characters in the wicked moviee!!!

  • I went and would go 10 more times or more! That is how good it is!

  • dude one of my favorite parts was defying gravity!! (; i love how she rises into the air like that and the lights were amazing! (;

  • i love wicked!!!!!!!!!!!! it was sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo goooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooood

  • @midguardz execuse me. are you dissing Wicked? I don't care about all of your politics, but are you really dissing Wicked? I don't understand how you are a human.

  • @midguardz If you actually watched the documentary you would see that Fiyero is played by a black guy. And if you knew the musical you would know that that is a major role. Also there are black women that play Elphaba on other tours. Don't judge unless you know...

  • @midguardz yer there are there was a black fiyero (btw thats the leading man - a major role) and yes she did want to be good and she was never evil just mis understood and because she upset a few people by doing the right thing where they were doing the wrong so no she was never wicked just that she was made out to be wicked because they were empty headed -like you

    no-one cares

  • @midguardz The Wicked Witch of the West is not an evil dictator like Bin Laden. Bush and Cheney aren't evil either.

  • yes now that I've seen it, the witch isn't the bad one but it would have been nice if this also could be done in a male perspective too. However your other comment that Bush & Cheney aren't evil that's rubbish or would you like to have another fake war again just to up their oil stocks? Wicked is really about the ugly duckling syndrome where people who think inside the box wont see other perspectives of beauty or alien things to be learned from. Sad that God & Satan wont resolve their difs too.

  • @midguardz I don't see what's wrong having two female leads in a musical. The story is about the witches of Oz... I don't see the issue! Saying that Bush or Cheney are evil is just as easy for you to say as it is for me to say that Obama is evil, but now we're talking politics, and I'd rather not debate that. Question: have you ever read the Bible? Satan is TRULY evil and God is %100 holy. Satan is a fallen angel, nonredeemable. They are not equals. God doesn't owe Satan anything.

  • bollocks without the devil to point the finger at GOD wouldn't look so good & holy; someone else would soon take Lucifer's role. Unless we had the fear of Gods infinite wrath & punishment we could never appreciate his eternal love for us & to head his warning that we should never challenge him or stop singing his songs of his own praise. God is the wizard needing to be carried off on his balloon & u should too as ur a lot of hot air. U were the one that stupidly said Bush & Cheney weren't evil

  • @midguardz Not going to argue politics or religion with you anymore since you are seriously in some need of culture, intelligence, vocabulary and wisdom. Let me know when you return from Munchkin Land. ;D

  • @midguardz Not to state the obvious but... FICTIONAL CHARACTERS! F-I-C-T-I-O-N-A-L C-H-A-R-A-C-T-E-R-S... (-_-||)

  • @midguardz Err.... Okay, from your comment I can safely assume that you've never read the book or saw the musical, and seem to have no idea what Wicked is about. Why don't you actually see it before making assumptions. As for the black people in major roles, why should it matter? There weren't any asians either but I don't see you complaining about that. I'm all for equality but they choose people based on talent not on race. And of course the person they choose have to actually suit the role.

  • @midguardz hmm I reread your comment, I may have interpreted something wrong. Are you saying that there were no black people in major roles in Wicked (which there are), or saying that classics were better because there are no black people in it? o-o

  • @midguardz Um no afrian americans? Did you even look at the guy playing Fiyero? Seriously its just a show dont make it more than it was written to be

  • @midguardz And I Beg to differ Fiyero is a black man! And He's a lead! Not that it matters what color he is. The whole cast is simply brilliant!

  • @midguardz Honestly you cannot say that because L Frank

Baum never explained the history of the witch of the west so this I think is a creative way to show that everyone has a story

  • @midguardz um for starters, in the 4 shows i've seen in 2 of them fieyero was african american and in the other 1 the wizard was african american. AND it sounds like you haven't even SEEN the show so dont be judgemental! AND how do you know they didn't regret any of their deeds just because those to really didn't?!?! this is a FICTIONAL BROADWAY SHOW it is somebody's opinion on what happened! you can have your opinons too but dont ruin others and JEEZ, i mean this is for ENTERTAINMENT!!!!!!!!!

  • Wasn't there a different girl for glenda?

  • @kittfox1 The main Elphaba was Idina Menzel (October 8, 2003 - January 9, 2005)

  • Why is everyone talking about a film in this? Is there a movie version out?

  • I thik I relate myself to both Galinda and Elphaba. I'm naturally blond, although I've colored it red. I'm very bubbly, short, and girly. But, I always stand up for what I belive in, and I am very different and weird.

  • well good for you....

    LOL

  • The guy at 4:44 is Sarah Jessica Parker's brother.

  • Although the couple in this documentry are great, Idilina and Kriston fit like a shoe in their roles.

  • lmao

I love how only the guys are clapping at 2:50

    I think jealousy's a-brewin'...

    xD

  • "a bit of a physco-stalker thing.."

    IMMD! XD

  • SJB is fierce.

    I looove her.

  • 2:35 SJB is sooooooo fierce I <3

  • Great Job! Saw it a couple days ago! Fab Job!

  • hahah :] this is amazing.

The whole thing about picking a shirt made me smile :] i bought the defying gravity shirt

  • Idina menzel and Kristan Kenoweth are the best

  • @CurlyFunLight

    **Kristin Chenoweth

  • @CurlyFunLight

    Kristin Chenoweth... -facepalm-

  • @CurlyFunLight yepp idina and kristin chenoweth r the best, but ya know... these girls r good, just not as good haha.. but yea, i agree

  • @CurlyFunLight yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeessssssss

  • This is great but the guy who spoke first "We now return to WICKED" or whatever he said. His voice annoys me. Haha

  • Elphaba and Nessa were sisters... or how else would you explain the line in The Wizard of Oz, "Who killed my SISTER...the Wicked Witch of the East?" um...yeah... plus (like MirandaAugust64 said) they have the same dad... hence the line "Take care of Nessa" which is the last thing he says to Elphaba as he leaves and Elphie is upset because her sister is normally colored and she is not!

  • Nope, sorry you're wrong. They have the same mom, that's true, but they are HALF sisters. Same mom, different dads. Frex is just under the impression that he is both girls' father. The Wizard is Elphaba's father, Frex is Nessa's. Elphaba was already old enough to remember her mother being pregnant with Nessa. Because she had to chew milk flowers (as heard during the popular scene)... And as we know the wizard only had "One more night left here in town" when Melena get preg with Elphaba.

  • @sinnistix88 Well, actually, technically you're wrong as well. Nessarose wasn't Frex's either. Turtleheart, (A Quadling) whom both Melena and Frex had frequent sexual encounters with, is Nessa's real father.

I'm not being bitchy, condescending, nor arrogant, I'm just stating things that could be beneficial knowledge on everyone's part. :)

  • @MuchoMasturbation

Yeah, but in the musical they cut Turtleheart's character. And technically, they didn't actually know whether or not Nessa was his or Frex's. That was part of why Frex loved her more though. Not only was she dependant and needy, but she was either his or a man of whome Frex respected and loved like a brother. I love that book so much :)

  • I LOVE ERIN MACKEY! SHE IS THE BEST GLINDA EVER! Today, the 10th of January, 2010, was/is her last performance. I might even be posting this right now, as she is taking her bow in NYC for the last time. Well, I really don't know if it is the last time she is playing Glinda; mabye she'll do a national tour or something. Who knows? Things can happen...

  • Who is the girl who plays Nessarose in here? I swear I've seen her before...

  • she was Libby from Sabrina the Teenage Witch

  • Cna someone tell me who the cast is in this doc? I LOVE elphaba's voice...wowzers...

  • @Merina2222 i think the elphaba is stephanie j. block

  • Elphaba is Stephanie J. Block and Glinda is Kendra Kassebaum, I think...

  • Elphaba: Stephanie J. Block

    G(a)linda: Kendra Kassebaum

  • I saw Kendra perform today. :D

    She's my favorite Glinda~

  • just saying about my last comment about erin, it's prob not her last bow in NYC cuz she will probably do another Broadway show. she already sed that she wanted 2 do a light in the piazza.

  • This is a really cool little documentary. and the different casts adds a fresh viewpoint, altough as far as I'm concerned the OBC is unbeatable.

I really like SJB's (is that her?) voice as elphaba, and her passion, but for me she's a little too stagey like...

"This movement here, this one here, then I'll thrust my head back in 1, 2 THREE!"

  • I believe you can never be too stagey on stage... and she HAS to sound amazing, those songs were actually written for her voice. I adore SJB

  • Sorry, stagey meaning false, not like she "is" Elphaba, rather she portrays her in a semi-accurate manor.

No actually, only 3 songs were written while SJB was in Wicked, and only 1 of them actually made it to the final piece - that was "As long as you're mine"

And they weren't written for her...Schwartz wrote them on his own.

The rest of the songs (ie. Wizard and I) were written FOR Idina and she moulded character, there is proof for that!

  • @MvyMkr Kerry Ellis is a VERY close runner-up for being the greatest Elphaba. She is PHENOMENAL! They sent her from West-End to Broadway. Actors get sent from Broadway to West-End all the time, but very rarely the other way around.

  • @MuchoMasturbation I dunno, it's not unheard of to send a West-End actor to Broadway. Anyways yes I think Kerry is great, she has a terrific pair of lungs and great presence onstage.

  • i dont think this cast is that great.... i like the girl who plays elphaba, thats all.

  • I AM SEEING IT TONIGHT!!!! IT STARTS 2 hrs and 15 mins AHH

  • OMG!!!! NessaRose is the girl that used to play Libby on Sabrina! i totally remember her!

  • ahhh!! thats awesome!!! who would of thunk she could sing!

  • I know right!? when I found out I was like WOAAAAAAAAAAAH!

  • I'M GOING TO SEE WICKED IN MARCH/APRIL!!! Yeah, after the six years it's been out. I think I might be a little too excited (but then again, maybe there's no such thing), and the sad thing is, I already know almost every line in the play. I have this little thing that, whenever I go to see a musical that I know really well, I sit there and I mouth every lyric, every word in the whole show. People say I'm crazy; in my opinion, I'm just very devoted...and I have too much time on my hands.

  • i feel special :D Im just sat here watching this in m Defy Gravity t-shirt and she said about them :) ahha im so lame :')

    I Love Wicked!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Thanks for posting <33333333

  • who's playing Fiyero in this? btw, i love this! thanks for posting it!

  • his name is Derrick Williams

    and youre welcome! :)

  • it really looks like her

  • omg at 3:58, is that libby from sabrina the teenage witch?!

  • yes, it is. :)

  • yeah, actually it is her :)

  • luv ur username

  • haha thanks! :D

  • They need to make this a movie.

  • they are going to make the movie when the ticket sales peak, which Im afraid, wont happen for a while seeing how popular it still is

  • @CursiveType, I would love to see that , too, but I'm cautious- We don't want a B-level version of a first class, A + show.

  • @CursiveType they are.

  • @CursiveType I read on imdb that there is discussions of turning into a movie.

  • @CursiveType They are, it's scheduled to come out in 2012.

  • 2:22 Amazing i love sjb

  • who plays Fiyero in this one?

  • this story... it really is tragic and beautiful. and what it teaches is even more beautiful... i mean.. like they said. the kids connect with one of the two woman. and whats brilliant is that the women are powerful. they are given the spotlight. which really gives another side. because all the men sorta fall by the wayside while elphaba and glinda take the stage. so the young girls and teen girls in the world see this and think. i wanna be like her. and they aspire and go after that dream.

  • is this cast still together? r they on tour know? please lite me know, me and my little sis r living in veagas nv and we want to see this reallly badly and van someone help to lite us know when they come here or really close to us please

  • ahh! this is great! I didn;t know they casted a black guy as Fiyero!!! <3 I prefer that because in the book, not only is Fiyero not that popular but he, along with Elphaba, stand out a bit because of their skin and backgrounds(Elphaba growing up in the Quadling Country and Fiyero being a tattooed Arjiki prince and one of the few students from the Vinkus). :D

  • Why do all of the people in here keep refering to the Wizard of Oz as a movie and not a book?! wtf?

  • well, the costumes and what not are more based on the movie than the book. Margaret Hamilton (the wicked witch in the original 1939 movie) is basically the reason Elphaba's green.

  • actually the costumes were much more inspired by W. Denslow's illustrations for the original OZ novel. Susan Hilferty says this in part 3 and has said in many interviews the book inspired the costumes. But it's true, Elphaba's green because of that :)

  • the writers tried to stay more true to the movie than the book, which I think is part of the reason.

  • It's so weird how the Wizard Of Oz ends up being The Wicked Witch Of The West and the Wicked Witch Of The East's fater (AKA Elphie/Elphaba and Nessa/Nessarose). And it's so sad how he tries to make people hate his daughter, even though he didn't know that Elphaba was his daughter.

  • He wasn't the wicked witch of the east's father, just Elphaba's.

  • he was cuz the wicked witch of the east was nessa and they had the same dad cuz they were sissys

  • No He wasn't. Elphaba was green because the wizard seduces her mother with his "green elixir" at the beginning of the musical and then heads off to the emerald city. As Nessa is a year or so younger than Elphaba it's not possible that he was governing oz and sleeping with Melena at the same time... As well as the fact that nessa never demonstrates the natural magic powers that elphaba has from being "a child of both worlds" Nessa only manages to cast a failed spell with the grimmerie.

  • You don't have to have both parets be exactly the same for you to be sisters.

Their Mother was both their birth mother, but she Had an affair and had Elphaba, then she had Nessa...who was Frex's daughter.

    They're only HALF sisters.

  • that Nessarose is the girl who played Libby in Sabrina The Teenage Witch, no?

  • yes

  • She is

  • This was probably my least favorite cast.

  • why?

  • whose the boq in this interview

    He is HOT!

  • seen it 18 times!!

  • They really were a GREAT cast!

  • i saw the musical with a different cast. nicole parker played elphaba and fiyero was a white dude. they were magnificent!!

  • what is the name of the actress in this documentary of Elphaba?

  • Stephanie J. Block :D

  • i wish i could see all of the rehearsal of Stephanie J

  • fghmkdyilyier

  • i went to see it yesterday it was amazing

  • lmao at Kendras face when they are rehearsing WITF

  • MORE THAN INCREDIBLE!!!!! I got to see it in London. And I'm so excited that its coming to Nashville in September!

  • Best Musical in the WORLD!!!

  • omg wow great musical
