aha was one of the last good big 'boy bands'...they became better and better over the years and their singles were more mature than in the beginning....2 best songs of a-ha--manhattan skyline and minor earth major sky....this one's not as good as depeche but it's a good try

This is s tough song to sing. As much as I admire Morten's talent and his ability to demonstrate a vocal range of over two and a half octaves, this song choice just doesn't fit well with his voice. This is just one of those rare songs that were tailor-written for certain singers, in this case, Martin, not Morten, Gore.
Didn´t know at all that Morten covered Martin Gore. I do love both, DM and a-ha. The more often I hear it, the better I like it, but I think it´s really strange. I´m eagerly waiting for Morten´s new album.... Greetings to all fans :-)

These two bands are in my top three. Depeche mode being 1 tears for fears 2 and A-ha number 3. Its amazing when one of ur fav bands does a song of ur favorite band.
It took me a minute or two until I payed enough attention to the voice to realize the difference. Really nice job singing this song, the notes are pretty hard in depeche mode songs and they managed really well.
OMG they just pull in song after song of perfect rendition. Another song that is not a creation of their hand, polished and improved an a live cover. I must insinuate the LIVE bit. This really pulls at my heart strings. a-ha will ALWAYS be my favorite band!! ♥

All these people saying it's poor/weak etc...this was recorded live in session on a radio show...it's hardly going to sound polished and perfect,is it? As it is,i think it's a superb cover of a great song.
As wonderful and vulnerable as Martin Gore's vocals are, Morten Harket is a far more capable singer, and while this isn't quite exactly like Martin's original, a-Ha's version is quite beautiful. I wish this were commercially available. If anyone knows where one can find this on CD, please post the info here.

The only negative point of criticism I have on this this awesome cover version is that it doesn't have that dark industrial undertone of the original.

I saw A-Ha play at Expo 86 (I was 10) I also saw Depeche Mode the same time. I always wanted them to cover DM, and I think they did an amazing job.

It took me a minute or two until I payed enough attention to the voice to realize the difference. Really nice job singing this song, the notes are pretty hard in depeche mode songs and they managed really well.

OMG they just pull in song after song of perfect rendition. Another song that is not a creation of their hand, polished and improved an a live cover. I must insinuate the LIVE bit. This really pulls at my heart strings. a-ha will ALWAYS be my favorite band!! ♥

(i'll be waiting for your reply for this question) come on! that is still DM's song no matter who covers it. by the way, do you know robert smith of The Cure? he is a self-confessed DM fan!

ALWAYS. no original, no cover. im not biased but martin gore's voice is more powerful, deep and soothing. but thanks also to a-ha for covering one of depeche mode's best songs! i've always loved that song since i heard martin gore sang it.

Depeche Mode rocks, Martin Gore is amazingly creative in many of their creations.
Sure, this rendition by A-ha is no where nearly as good as DM's MG's voice in that song (I believe it's Martin singing it for DM, not David Gahan?).
Anyways, A-ha has their awesome songs too, Morten Harket has a great vocal range, not well suited to the darker tunes of DM.
In any case, A-ha has some awesome songs as well.
A-ha gave respect to DM by singing this song, poor as the live version here was.

As wonderful and vulnerable as Martin Gore's vocals are, Morten Harket is a far more capable singer, and while this isn't quite exactly like Martin's original, a-Ha's version is quite beautiful. I wish this were commercially available. If anyone knows where one can find this on CD, please post the info here.

ohh...my....god...Not only do i love a-ha first heard them in the mid 80's i also love this song by Martin gore its something id write and sing and will need to for fun.. but a most magical girl of equel taste like an equelibrium gives this song a special meaning that amplifies it greatly beyond its 4:01 sound.
