  • Excelente cover. Muy buen trabajo de A-ha. Gracias por compartir esta versión.

  • I wanted to like this but for me it failed . Sorry .

  • aha was one of the last good big 'boy bands'...they became better and better over the years and their singles were more mature than in the beginning....2 best songs of a-ha--manhattan skyline and minor earth major sky....this one's not as good as depeche but it's a good try

  • @mahoelihaai yes but they really didn´t need to become better,i mean there are really gems in all their career, not just from when they matured..for example:hunting high and low, living a boy´s adventure tale, scoundrel days, the swing of things, ive been losing you(very originals)..just to name a few from the very begining..

  • @dayargrosario ok-you're right-those songs are superbe-but 'by better and better'-I mean

more musical growings without losing the sound of the 80's..less commercial but more feeling into their songs...they were with a few others one of my favorite 80's groups-and back then there were very good bands as talk talk, depeche mode, tears for fears, simple minds,U 2,bronski beat---the variations were a killer back then

  • Not as good as I had hoped for... Because Depeche Mode is my favourite band and aha is one of the best 80´s bands around...

  • Morten Harket rocks. A-ha was the best. Glad to see he's still putting it out there.

  • i thounght it was a song recorded in studio!!! A-ha and DM The Best

  • The only negative point of criticism I have on this this awesome cover version is that it doesn't have that dark industrial undertone of the original.

But I agree that Morten does this song justice.

  • Es muy raro, pero no deja de ser una linda versión.

  • @dayagrgrosario:

thank you! i really enjoyed reading your comments. =) you come across as a person that is sensible, unbiased & rational.Credits must be given to their talents for doing a "cover version".

i can't imagine if everyone has a biased, vindictive, egoistical narrow funnel mind like sweetsuszie, what will become to the spectrum of bands and musicians?

I'm a fan of both aha & depeche mode.they are great!

can anyone really compare an apple with an orange???

    dayagrgrosario,we r behind u!

  • Great Cover!!! I love both songs thats for sure...

  • bored of idiot trolls ...... A-ha are amazing ... that's all that needs to be said.

  • @dayagrgrosario and anyway why the heck do you care what i think... do you know the band? do you know thier web master? do they even have one? cause ive met mode, but i dont know them. and i do know thier webmaster hes pretty fun. and i have a music degree so yes dear i am qualifed to judge. thank you.

  • @sweetsuszie i dont care what you think, obviously you dont know nothing about a-ha(your degree cant help you with that if you are not in to their music) so I wanted to tell you some things about..now you know something, if you want to know more start listen to them..bye bye

  • @dayagrgrosario i did insult the band because i didnt like them i lived thru their era. I had to hear that song on the damn radio every hour on the hour. literally. it shows real lack of brain power that the first thing you do is call names. i dont like aha. never did. thier stuff was too slow for me. do you think that people dont call mode names? omg like think again. but here it is almost 40 years later and thier last concert sold out the staples center in 10 minutes.

  • @dayagrgrosario...again youve proved my point. when asked to perform did they sing one of thier so called over 100 songs NO! they sang two songs from two very well established bands. what does that say to you? seriously think about that. and id love to see your proof that they have sold as many albums as Mode because i know thats bull. Mode has been around for going on 40 years. hello. were talking millions of records. the truth is that aha did not chart in the states again. that is fact.

  • @dayagrgrosario... all your doing is proving my point. call me names all you want you probalby werent even alive when aha hit the pop charts, with one count em one song. you dont see mode haveing to cover any song after thier 1st album. why do you suppose that is. Aha is not at the level of Depeche Mode or Mode would be covering them. dork.

    @wheninnet amen!

  • @sweetsuszie sorry dude, but that is not a good argument..a band is not better than another one just beacuse is more famous or more "cool" .nobody talks about a-ha but they have sold the same amount of albums as depeche mode.is just that people think a-ha is that stupid boys band wich have done one shitty song in all they career.and that is what the media and US always tried to make them..but nothing could be more away from reality than this..

  • @sweetsuszie and i forgot..i insult you beacuse you insulted a-ha and i dont think you are a person qualify to do that, you can notice that i didnt insult depeche mode..and the reason why a-ha is sometimes call a one hit wonder is beacuse the first song was so succesfull that their second hit wich was big, too in US (nº20),so it entered the top 40 was not notable beacuse the first hit opaqued it .and a-ha where always in the charts in europe until the end of their carrer..

  • @sweetsuszie and they don't have to cover another band.this was a radio program where the reporters ask them to perform 2 songs from another artist they liked..they have like 100 songs, why sould they sing a song from another band,if they have all that great stuff to sing..the other song they performed was say hello wave goodbye by soft cell..

  • Well, ...

  • This is music from heaven and Morten´s voice MUCH MORE THAN amazing!!! Thx for sharing and a happy x-mas everyone!!!

  • @wheninnet depeche mode does not need to cover that peice of shit song

a-ha should not cover english bands... sounds like thier trying to hard to sound like mode. who they will never be.

  • @sweetsuszie you idiot,a-ha is of course a band at the leavel of depeche mode and they dont need to copy them.take on me is a silly song, good but silly.but apart from that and another 4 commercial songs then the rest are masterpieces!...probably you dont know their stuff!

  • amazing...

  • It's a nice wee cover but very far from Martin's talented original. It's too smooth there's no raw tension in it.

  • very very good version, just perfect

  • I always feel this song is melancholic. Put Morten's voice to it, it becomes a "so deeply sad and lonely" song.

  • Didn´t know at all that Morten covered Martin Gore. I do love both, DM and a-ha. The more often I hear it, the better I like it, but I think it´s really strange. I´m eagerly waiting for Morten´s new album.... Greetings to all fans :-)

  • increible, esta genial.-

  • no i love martin gore's version way better.

  • yes!!!! oooooohhhhh!

  • WOW!!!

  • Im a very big fan of DM an the whole day I listen Depeche. But I have to admit that the A-ha version ist much better, ok its more new but its better.

  • @MusicBFFF I adore DM but hated the songs Martin Gore sang on....Morten does a much better version

  • Fantastic.

  • It,s a bit crap!

  • I agree DM should cover Take On Me ! rightt ??!?!

  • @vintagefella1936 yeah - not sure...don't get me wrong, I really like Depeche Mode but in all honesty, not sure if he'd be able to hit Morten's high notes...I could be wrong...but Morten's vocal range is extremely amazing (especially men in general have deep voices). If any guy can hit 'Take on me with the high notes on target and can sing it fairly well, I'll be extremely shocked...just sayin ~

  • Sounds right to me, I love it!!

  • dont be fanatic Morten is another unreachable singer as Dave, and Martin Gore is a brilliant singer, but never as good as his Depeche Mode mate Dave Gaham, or Morten Harket

  • Miles away from the original...

  • Nice version...

  • depeche mode and aha are in my hall of fame, dave is another greate singer his voice is hipnothic, no one can sing as dave or as morten

  • @cristinawilligs I agree, but this song wasn't sung by Dave, it was Martin.. and his voice is way better for this than Morten's..

  • @hillie1974 oh yeah, you are right, what i was thinking, oviously martin sings this song better than morten because morten is singing live, anyway never heard this song live by martin gore, ill find out now :)

  • @cristinawilligs it will give you goosebumps..enjoy xx

  • DAVE Y MORT; MORT Y DAVE.. THE BEST VOICES OF POP AND SEXIEST.

  • check out RuPaul covering People Are People. That one is fantastic!

  • Oh this is soooo wrong!

  • I don't really like this. I don't think people should cover Depeche Mode except for other synthpop acts. I.e. Camouflage, De/vision, Cause & Effect etc...

  • Holy Holy Holy moly. I love love love Depeche Mode...more than YOU do! I have to say this is a brilliant cover. Of course I love love love A-ha as well.

  • klingt als habe man die eier von martin entfernt. ich mag a-ha, aber das geht überhaupt nicht

sounds like you have the balls removed from martin. I like a-ha, but that's not at all

  • For one take live radio, this is amazing! Morten's voice is perfect for this song. Depeche Mode should cover Take On Me.

  • @WhenInNet

    Don't get my hopes up.

  • Horrible :(

  • i love both bands, but hearing this is totally giving me a bad case of cognitive dissonance. ha!

  • martin, DM's songwriter is always grateful to people and bands who make covers of their songs. just goes to show that DM songs are worth covering

  • Unbelievable cover !!

  • You would only take on this song if you luv Dm and are a Devotee

  • a fucking great DM song...one of their best from the mid-80s. a-ha does it justice too.

  • this is a great cover. A-ha does a great job on this. People who dont like this are just fan boys of depeche mode. Both bands are great and this is a great cover by a great band.

    thanks for the upload

  • @MrJelly32 I am a depeche mode fan and I really liked this cover...

  • this is so bad it makes me laugh

  • dm is awsome but a-ha is ****

  • it's sounds really 'up'...

  • Ganz großen Dank an die Superband A-HA für diese Anerkennung der Musik Von DEMO!Macht BITTE WEITER!Sagt Depeche Mode Fan Jens aus Schwerin.

  • What a nice cover of a great DM song...the lead singer sounds really close to Gore's voice.

  • Имхо отвратительный кавер. Хотя я люблю A-ha=(

  • the best depeche mode and aha

  • qanz ehrlich ? bei depeche mode hört es sich 10 mal besser an

  • Wow! Awesome. Love DM & really like A-Ha... thanks for posting.

  • Fantastic. I love when superstars pause tip their hats to other superstars.

  • I really enjoyed your video. I have also a tribute to the group A-Ha. I would be happy to share with your fans.

  • @Sterbenbullock HOLY SHIT,i have not read all of you,and my english is so bad,now i've make a BIG MISTAKE,i've give you thumb DOWN here!*shameonme* :-((

    Please excuse me...

Because ALL what you have write AFTER i'm totaly AGREE WITH YOU!!!

Depeche Mode is a great group,i love also the sound very much --> BUT...

A-HA IS AND STAY FOR ALL TIME FOREVER UNVORGOTTEN...

AND MORTENS VOICE IS WITH NOTHING COMPARES WITH ANYTHING OR ANYONE! <3

  • I think this cover is gorgeous just like the original! (L)

  • He could sing it with much more depth and strength.. !! Such a pity!

  • Depeche Mode to lepsze wykonanie przyjaciele...

  • What is the infactuation w/ Germany and DP, you guys and gals (Ofcourse) know your music. It funny to have to say that A-Ha mad a cover. Sure as hell beat Micke Hasoloff

  • dont like

  • What a dream! Wonderful, wonderful. You can't describe that with words...

  • Oh jizz... That this exists is freaking kickass

  • IF YOU DONT LIKE A-HA'S GREAT COVER, THEN JUST ENJOY THE SILENCE.

  • @dukuman4 enjoy the silence everytime

  • A-Ha doesnt have to sound great, their music stands on its own anyway. I cant say that there is a A-ha song that I dont like. Me personally I Love the cover.

  • These two bands are in my top three. Depeche mode being 1 tears for fears 2 and A-ha number 3. Its amazing when one of ur fav bands does a song of ur favorite band.

  • A-ha and DM are the best ever bands in the past 30 years!

    (^u^)

  • Aha actually has the right voice to cover this song: masculine but high-pitched and emotional

  • both groups are lovely in eternity

  • It's good. What do you expect. A-HA have always been good.

  • I saw A-Ha play at Expo 86 (I was 10) I also saw Depeche Mode the same time. I always wanted them to cover DM, and I think they did an amazing job.

  • It took me a minute or two until I payed enough attention to the voice to realize the difference. Really nice job singing this song, the notes are pretty hard in depeche mode songs and they managed really well.

  • I love their metallic grey suites, so elegant and classy just like a-ha itself.... Love you guys

  • OMG they just pull in song after song of perfect rendition. Another song that is not a creation of their hand, polished and improved an a live cover. I must insinuate the LIVE bit. This really pulls at my heart strings. a-ha will ALWAYS be my favorite band!! ♥

  • @Sterbenbullock i will. thanks

  • @Sterbenbullock well, that's just YOUR opinion. mine is different. martin of DM is simply....OH MY GORE....!

  • @Sterbenbullock ok then. just one question. why do you think A-ha covered ' a question of lust' by Depeche Mode? (i'll be waiting for your reply for this question) come on! that is still DM's song no matter who covers it. by the way, do you know robert smith of The Cure? he is a self-confessed DM fan!

  • @Sterbenbullock i love both bands but please, nothing beats the original. ALWAYS. no original, no cover. im not biased but martin gore's voice is more powerful, deep and soothing. but thanks also to a-ha for covering one of depeche mode's best songs! i've always loved that song since i heard martin gore sang it.

  • Very Good, I'm sorry fans of Depeche Mode, but for me this version of A-HA was better than the original ... Morten has a perfect voice ;D

  • WRONG!!!!!!!!

  • It`s one of the badest depeche cover versions. A-ha is a good band, but they should

let such couver versions be, they must play their own music.

  • wow! I already loved this song but this version is also very good and I agree with others that it's a hard song to sing and Morten does a wonderful job at singing it.

  • This song is not easy song to sing.

I think Morten 's voice suites to this song , anyway.

  • Wow. The instrumentation in this is great, and the singing isn't bad. The singing would be even better if this were a polished recording rather than a performance.

  • FANTASTIC!!!!!!!!!!!

my both all time favorite bands all in ONE, wheeeeee life has not pass me by

    now, to sleep

  • Depeche Mode rocks, Martin Gore is amazingly creative in many of their creations.

Sure, this rendition by A-ha is no where nearly as good as DM's MG's voice in that song (I believe it's Martin singing it for DM, not David Gahan?).

Anyways, A-ha has their awesome songs too, Morten Harket has a great vocal range, not well suited to the darker tunes of DM.

In any case, A-ha has some awesome songs as well.

A-ha gave respect to DM by singing this song, poor as the live version here was.

  • @ymi2b Correct, Martin Gore sings this. Personally prefer Martin's vocals to David's in general :)

  • @DevineToler

Must be a girl thing, LOL, I like David Gahan's more masculine voice, in general.

However, Have you ever heard "Home" with Martin Gore's voice, very good.

    watch?v=l87jkd6juq0

  • @ymi2b lol whaaat? I think Martin has a more masculine voice, just a smoother one.

  • good cover but then Morten can sing beautifully,,,covering Depeche Mode should only be attempted by bands who can sing A-HA did that well good

  • To moja ulubiona piosenka DM a fanem a-ha i głosu MH jestem od 25 lat i nigdy nie myślałem ,że uda mi się usłyszeć takie połączenie.Great.

  • @morethan71

Fantastyczna piosenka i fantastyczne wykonanie!!! Zgadzam się, rewelacja! An amazing performance! Great song and a great voice. Wow!! Love it!

  • @JoahannaB Fajny nick!

  • DM to the BM and we TM to EVO and move the END we go NM so BE to the Aha and the DM and Erasure by way of Alan ...walk to the brink and ask who cares in the end Music is Music...groove to the moove and pass the way side we reckon..Ian Curtis...falco...freddie mercury...Wendy O. Williams..think be fore you drink the koolaid

  • i love this cover

  • Blows the mind but it's awesome! I love it!

  • i adore morten harket.HE IS THE BEST

  • where is:

    Kiss me goodbye

    When I'm on my own

    But you know that I'd

    Rather be home?

  • Depeche Mode should cover an a-ha song in return. That will be amazing. :)

  • Depeche Mode and a-ha are fantastic.

  • love it

  • Morten Harket is the best singer of all the times...

  • Hmmm...weird. And they missed bits out! To steal a famous British gameshow catchphrase, It's Good, But it's Not Right. But hey, anything that brings DM to the ears of the masses...

  • Martin Gore has a wide vocal range but Morten's is even wider I'm surprised that he didn't sing this song better though is a good verision. One of my favorite bands covering my favorite band ever (Y)

  • O...M....G

  • All these people saying it's poor/weak etc...this was recorded live in session on a radio show...it's hardly going to sound polished and perfect,is it? As it is,i think it's a superb cover of a great song.

  • Comment removed

  • As wonderful and vulnerable as Martin Gore's vocals are, Morten Harket is a far more capable singer, and while this isn't quite exactly like Martin's original, a-Ha's version is quite beautiful. I wish this were commercially available. If anyone knows where one can find this on CD, please post the info here.

  • I think it's a great cover!!!

  • NO,NO,NO! this is FLAT.

  • Vaya sorpresa...

  • not bad

  • "Nice try"...so funny. There is only one Martin Gore.

  • nope sorry

its not a patch on the original!

Nice try but stick to your own material boys

  • Good but original from D.M. is much better

  • weak, not even close to the original

  • Interessante.

  • Absolut geil!

  • wow me late

  • ohh...my....god...Not only do i love a-ha first heard them in the mid 80's i also love this song by Martin gore its something id write and sing and will need to for fun.. but a most magical girl of equel taste like an equelibrium gives this song a special meaning that amplifies it greatly beyond its 4:01 sound.

  • @BobbyEnergy on the original version of this martin gore sang it naked in the recording booth alone!!! and cant you tell!!

  • aaaaaaaa-hhhhhhhhhhhhaaaaawweeeeeeeeesssssommeee

  • pretty good cover they have aha'd it, although i'm surprised morten's vocals are slightly weak cause he has a strong voice. still prefer DM's

  • A melhor banda do mundo!!! a voz do Morten, os arranjos do Mags e os solos do Pal...fazem do a-ha indiscutivelmente a melhor...a-ha é minha vida!!! DON'T STOP A-HA

  • amazing

  • amazing

  • Охренеть!Две любимых группы сразу!

  • pretty good, but of course i like martin singing it more! but this is good! (kudos to the singer for still going so high on that note in "take on me")

  • Comment removed

  • i love both a-ha and depeche mode - and in my opinion, the original version is a tad better

but this one's not bad either :-)

  • i am fan of both bands...a-ha is first and dm is 2nd...it´s one of my dm-favourite-songs...and hey did it brilliant!!!don´t argue about really good music...there´s so many crap today!

  • Cool, but i won't say what is obvious

  • @Kenckaplus Wich is: Depeche Mode's original song is better ;) I like this one too but...

  • @gahan101 Gotcha ^^

  • Im sorry guys but Martin sings this song so much better Martin is the man of this song!!

  • Nice! Come check out my DM covers!

  • Martin crushes this live.

  • Duas das bandas que eu mais gosto, ótima cover! Quem não gosta que se foda, bando de emos do carai!!!!

  • The instrumental is good, but the vocals are definitely weaker than Martin's.

  • LOOKS LIKE A JHONAS BROS 10 YEARS A GO

  • The fact that you know what the Jonas Brothers look like makes you a sad bastard
