I see that you live in America and to be honest there's many places over your way that stock good materials, here are some that I would recommend, Whiting, Metz, Colins and Keough for capes Wapsi, Orvis, Montana Fly Company, Hareline and Hedron have many other materials from dubbing to tinsels there's many others out there to which have specialised materials for tying certain flies but I hope this will give you an idea...
a great clan chief variant davie, yes i like the way you tie in the tail floss, did you dye the cape yourself or purchase it at a tackle emporium, keep them coming davie, i know its your busy time, fishing an that, but we all miss ur presance on youtube, happy wrappings davey, antrim.
Great Fly once again davie love this black claret colour ,have tied some up looking forward to using them. Thanks again for the vids you have helped my tying loads.
Hi Davie, thanks a million for tying the Clan Chief. Its in my top five flies. I love your method of tying the tail. I normally tye mine as per book, ie,one colour at a time forming loops to bulk up the floss and mostly end up with a bulky body. Once again thanks for all the exellent videos and if you get a chance down the line you might do a Watsons Bumble or a Kate. all the best, Donie, Cork City.
I always enjoy your tutorials, Davie. You have provided the solution to a problem I was having: using glue to secure tinsel to the bend of a hook. That never occured
If you are tying a fly that you are going to be fly fishing in an international competition or even some of the many other competitions in which you use the same rules then your fly has to be no more than15/16th of a inch in the total length and the hook size no more than 5/8ths of and inch and also tyed with no weight added like adding lead or a bead.
Great stuff David, what vice do you use? Jim

You've mentioned "tying for international" in several of your videos. How does that affect the pattern and materials for these wonderful flies?
