  • magnifique performance

    best pianist ever!!!

  • Godlike phrasing.

  • Beautiful subtle interpretation. I love her phrasing and rubato. Can't be beat.

  • this is played way too fast, i couldn't even enjoy the peice. it would've been beautiful if you slowed it down

  • Even so, you can't dance to it this fast. I love the interpretation, but still I think it sounds better slower.

  • To those who think Argerich's interpretation is too fast, I recommend listening to a few Argentine folkloric dances. They are lively. Argerich's tempo is the right tempo to dance this piece. Wonderful interpretation! By the way, those who are not familiar with Argentine folklore (like Michael Tilson Thomas, for example) also make the mistake of playing Ginastera's ballet Estancia, especially the last movement Malambo, way too fast. After all, Malambo is also a dance.

  • Believe it or not, I am studying this piece, and the speed indicated by Ginastera (I think) is that fast. I makes me wonder, as I like it a little slower. And I like respecting author's indications!

  • I think it's too fast.

  • Well, "a little faster" is because no others is paying attention at the composer's tempo mark. After all it is a dance, not a funeral march.

  • I likeyiur interpretation of this. You make it sound like a dance, which it really is

  • Beatufull, great maestra

  • perfect!

  • bello

  • This is a wonderful performance: warm, charismatic, glowing in colours, totally alive. Martha is a Master in whatever she does, because she is not capable of not being herself - most exquisite piano player of our time. The Master is not here to play to other peoples' ideas or preferences. They do not come to do other peoples' bidding. They show new and fresh ideas of beauty - and thank goodness for that!

  • bellissimo!!

  • In my argentine opinion, it is a little too fast!!

A mi me gusta.

  • I think to understand this music you must watch how the argentinian folklore is danced, and from the north of argentina, let say TUCUMAN;SANTIAGO DEL ESTERO,but the traditional one. If you imagine this piece danced by a couple maybe the critic would be different..about tempo,agogic,etc....

  • I like it her attitude, her independence, but I also think that her piano playing is overrated, especially in slow movements. These excessive erruptions become really annoying after a while.

  • I will agree that her dynamic variation, phrasing and rhythmic consistency here is superb.

  • Sometimes the greatest respect is payed with a criticism.

  • Even elenacasanova below agreed that it was a "little fast." I think that it was too fast. I also think she uses too much damper. As a judge, I would still rate the performance with an "A"; for completely valid and justifiable reasons, I simply prefer a different "A". Furthermore I would assert that anyone who blindly lauds a star actually disrespects that star, because he does not firmly regard the abstract standard, independent of him or her, upon which his or her merit rests.

  • ca me tue , elle joue tellement bien !! superbe morceau !!

  • She should stick to prestos. This is taken too fast and is drowned in damper. The syncopation of the dance is lost in all the rubato. Undoubtedly, the interpretation has its own strengths - namely, her uncanny ability to control the gradual dynamic swell as the harmonization thickens - but it also misses a lot of the potential evocations that a slower, dryer, more direct approach would capture.

  • It is a fool who offers blind praise to every trip and blunder of a god, simply because he sees a god. As I said in my comment, the performance has major strengths. No one would deny that Agerich is one of the greatest pianists in human history. Though _capable_ of any technical feat or even interpretive device, perhaps she chose to approach this piece in a limited way. There are many, equally valid interpretations of a single score. At the time of my post, I happened to prefer 1 over another.

  • The Princess of the Piano <3

  • Beautiful tears come to my eyes

    10 puntos :-)

  • Argerich touches the piano and the heavens open.

  • I've been looking for a downloadable recording of this piece but this one is lovely (Audacity!). Ginistera loves to make mysterious beauty creep out of dissonance and he does it so well in the Argentine dances.

  • I was studying these 3 danzas, they are amazing. This second one, the final chord somehow always reminded me of the first chord of the Pink Panther's theme. Obviously is not the same chord but still I cannot help but remember it.

  • This is about a girl who is at the argentinian "Pampas" like plains with grass and nothing else w8ing for his loved one but he never returns. =)

  • love it love it!!!

10 puntos.

  • I love this interpretation. It's a little faster, but it isn't fast. It has the perfect touch of movement in the right places. She is the greatest!

  • one of the best for sure.

  • this is lovely.
