  • das ding hört isch an wie ein staubsauger ich hab auch ne 5850 aber net OC wofür auch? reicht völlig aus für alles

  • I was answering a comment by another user and was actually saying that no matter how much you overclock this card it will never be a 5870.

Perhaps you should read things in their entirity before making a comment in the future?

  • Eh-sus

not asooos. It really makes me uncomfortable and irritable when I hear that.

  • hey do i need this if i have catalyst

  • @ 0:40 he said "WTF!"

  • i have the sapphire hd 5850 game edition (the one that came with dirt 2). had it since they came out and i've never been able to overclock the thing. overclocking the memory from the default 1000mhz to 1025mhz = instant black screen or white screen with yellow vertical lines. overclocking the gpu isnt nearly as bad but i can't get it past 745 otherwise it will artifact after long periods. changing voltage doesn't help at all. ive fooled around with new bios's but only had worse problems. temp55C

  • I have this card. And btw: THAT IS ONE HUGE ASS OVERCLOCK!

  • Asus 6870 Voltage teak don't work

  • I have the ASUS 5850 DirectCU Voltage Tweak, but my version of smartdoctor, wont even go as high as the clocks used in the video???? Im confused???

  • Well. You can run almost all games on high quality, i've got the 5850 and i've only changed the engine from 725 to 800 and enabled SmartCooling. im able to run starCraft II at ultra, with a 77 FPS. i really dont see why you should overclock it that much. You only increase the chance it gets broken. Yes the fans are good etc. and there is a direct CPU cooler in, but still.

  • @HardcoreAndMore what if you have 2 in crossfire..

  • A 5850 overclocked does not ever make it a 5870.

    5850 1440 stream processors

    5870 1600 stream processors

    5850 72 texture units

    5870 80 texture units

    5850 mem clock 4ghz

    5870 mem clock 4,8ghz

5850 overclocked does not=5870 and i dont charge you $100 to tell you that.

Another easy tell tale sign is to actually take the cards side by side and look at the difference in size, its quite a bit of a difference, the 5850 is smaller than the 5870 by a fair size.

    Also a 5870 can be o/c !

  • the only thing that matters is the difference in stream processors, where the 5870 beats the 5850. but, if u can overclock the 5850, the comparison to make is difference between the 5870's 850/1200 and the 5850's 725/1000. anything above a 900/1225 overclock for the 5850 will easily match or even beat a 5870. ive got a 5850, overclocked to 920/1250, and it performs at least 25% better than it used to. which is an average 7fps increase in metro 2033 and a 8fps increase in crysis warhead

  • @superj1977 horray a 5% difference... Its not worth the price or the power drain.

  • is the direct cu verison of this card better?

  • Thx very nice. It worked for me with crossfire.

  • i cant open smartdoctor i says eror coudnt find graphic card information anybody knows whats going on instald deinstalled everything alrdy idk whats wrong ?

  • Thank you! Thank you very much for this video!!!

  • I tried to clock my ASUS Radeon 5850.

And tried to run 3DMark Tool and my computer got fucked up..

  • @Kennethcrunzaty That's because you're an idiot. I bet you've tried overclocking on a Dell too.

  • @ChanceCoats123

Ur funny, I dont use dell that shit is fucked up dont worth a $..

    Fuckface..

  • HOLY SHIT!

  • Hey, i have the Powercolor Radeon HD5850 with his own BIOS and also i have The XFX Radeon HD5850 XXX BIOS, i would like to know how to flash this last BIOS to have my graphics card with the XFX XXX edition values ( clocks and voltages )

  • friends

I cannot change the bios of my hd xfx 5850. I'm trying to unlock the range of clock and vcore, but it is difficult.

Using ati.flash all bios that I try to use to unlock the vcore failure. Appears "id subsystem incorrect or incompatible," something like that. Can I use an own copy of the bios? How to proceed?

    Can someone help me?

Sorry for my english ^ ^

  • so this works with all cards? i mean not only asus? if u use MSI afterburner it works with all?

  • @kirill747 no, it works on about 75% of them, they have to have programable voltage chips on the back.

  • u can only use voltage tweak whit asus cards? or whit other marks like evga or gigabyte, zotac etc?

  • when you oc this card, do you have to always "re-overclock" it every time you log in/boot up?

  • @gumberly yes, you can enalbe a setting called "enable OC at startup"

  • this video card is very well the i7-920 of graphic cards

  • how much is the power consumption rising when you overclock it....let say about 800mhz...im using nexus nx 5000 500w psu and q6600 prosessor at 3ghz. i doubted that this psu would run 5850 bit on stock clocks it works fine. am i able to oc it to 800mhz.

  • @gippula

    LOL!

you can only get 800Mhz? ahahaahahah

    My 5850 is @ 1050Mhz :)

    and 1250Mhz

  • @BKsMassive stop bragging and stop bragging

  • @LizzyAston

    im not.

if i can get a 5850 that means you can.

    enjoy the overclock.

    Noob.

  • @BKsMassive no i mean: well done on the overclock, but dont be a dick and go LOL! YOU SUCK HAHA I CAN OVERCLOCK MORE THAN YOU!!

    cos thats being a prick

  • @LizzyAston

i managed to get 4 hour stable at 1100Mh boi ;)

    last night....

sorry for being a cock but 800 is easy

if you click automatic tune in ATI overdrive it goes higher than that xD

  • @BKsMassive lmao no it doesnt go higher than that, and you need to change the voltage to go above 950mhz otherwise it wont be stable...

  • can you oc this card on a cheap motherboard? with a 650W psu?

  • yes

  • @larsenmark277 yes but the psu should be a good well known brand.

  • My Sapphire hd5850 with stock voltage running @900 GPU/1200 memmory. With 1.2V go to 1000 GPU/1200 memmory. I edit bios with RBE to have in CCC 1000/1200 and just set the voltaje with MSI Afterburner.

  • Love the video card and it kick ass

  • This card really is a bargain. I just bought one, running 822/4280 at 1.1Volts. A very safe overclock, the card doesnt go above 50Deg. under full load for long periods. Pretty amazing. The fan is very loud, but it works so well and doesnt need to run that hard unless you do an overclock like this video id say. I will be going higher, but i didnt believe how high these cards could clock so im going up slowly. A great card, and awsome value.

  • Nice video,MSI AFTERBURNER does the same,I have a HD 5850 from XFX and it works great with it.

  • haha earn 100 dollars =D nice vid! can i download the program from the link?

  • I am so lucky. With my sapphire card, I managed to get 940 core and 1330 memory with the voltage at 1149! :)

  • My Asus card gets 940mhz core and 1200mhz memory with that voltage. My memory can go higher but I haven't really tried that yet. anything after 940mhz core and I need to add loads and loads of voltage. 975mhz isn't stable until 1.2+volts. But Im happy with 940mhz, I get an extra 10fps average in GTA IV benchmark.

  • nice only 39 degrees on full thats pretty cool

  • wtf I can earn 100 dollar by tweaking voltage? Money doesn't grow on trees they come from overclocked 5850

  • @cisco760ca i can never get it to be stable

  • Very nice tool. I like how you can also under volt it. I run an all passive system and sometimes get artifacts on hot days, will definatly look to Asus for my next card.

  • hueh...i got 900 Core. at1.25V..and 1300Mhz mem...

  • is this programe going to work with sapphire hd 5850

  • You will need to flash the Sapphire BIOS with the one from the ASUS 5850. It will void the Sapphire warranty and there are some very high risks involved as it can render your Sapphire as an expensive paper weight. Google it but do at your own risk.

  • @eguitarstar ive broken my 4870, but i dont use it as a paperweight

  • @LizzyAston Cool, I discovered that even with a bad flash of a BIOS on a GFX card it can still be recovered. You will need a motherboard with on board graphics or a motherboard with two PCIe solts and another PCIe or AGP or PCI graphics card. What do you use your 4870 as?

  • @eguitarstar i use it for gaming. but to stop my case heating up and for it to use less power, i used to severely underclock it to half its memory and core clocks (something like 385 and 450). so yesterday when i was just on the desktop i saw some flashes and sounds in my computer (i knew it was a short) and it quickly turned off and back on again, but then shorted again. turned out to be a little thingy on the gpu that completely blew. im hoping that my warranty will cover it lol

  • @eguitarstar flashing the bios doesnt do anything to the card you idiot....

  • @eguitarstar

you realise any form of overclocking immediatly voids the warranty right?

  • @Nero57James

    No thats not true.

If overclocking the card voids the warranty then why would ATI CCC have the function to overclock?

Why would asus include smartdoctor with their cards?

Why would MSI include AfterBurner with their cards?

I think what you actually mean could be that editing the cards bios to remove ccc core clock limits and change gpu core voltage under 3d clocks and reflashing to offer high end overclocking would void the warranty.

  • @mapring6390 download msi afterburner for to increase your voltage then download amd gpu clocktool to do the rest .

  • its underclocked for a reason too much heat dont forget all dual gpus are unclocked because if they wernt they would burn out so to hd 5850oc would in fact beat a hd 5970 untill they make a water block then hu knows

  • thats true. the stock clock is 725 and its nowhere near one hd5870... if you overclock it to the speed of hd5870 you'll gain huge performance! my friend got one for already and he runs it at 830 core clock right now. Very good card.

  • @Vertig0HTM your right buddy got 2 sapphires and overclocked them on msi afterburner with voltage increaser too and all i can say is dammm great price for a great card.

  • damm since i cant get a hold of the 5970 i can get 2 f these and oc them

  • Very nice card. It would be nice though if Asus would make some cards with much quieter coolers. At 100% it's really loud, in fact from what I've heard so far anything above 30% is already pretty loud.

  • The cooler is from ATI, and it's actually very quiet compared to other equivalent products.

  • It can be loud, but since it keeps the gpu nice and cool, it's worth it, even at 30% the card won't go above 80C if not overclocked on crysis. Push it to 60% and you can put a 1.275mV 1010MHz oc and still only reach 75C :)

100% is just major overkill, and its just never needed unless you put your case in an oven :)

  • Nice!

I've been doing the same thing with MSI Afterburner and AMD GPU Clock Tool on my Powercolor 5850, runs at 1GHz 1.25v fine :)

    Amazing cards!

  • That TT intro music is so random and chaotic, it's disturbing.

  • If find mister Wilmot's voice also disturbing, I don't know exactly why.
