  • Lots of these can be legitimate signs, but only really mean anything when done in order. Like say the 1st base coach taps his head twice, grabs his belt, and wipes his shoulder 3 times its a hit and run. But if he taps his head twice, grabs his belt and wipes his shoulder once it's nothing.

Could get confusing at times lol.

  • anyone know where I can find the one of the kid getting a cast then he turns his fingers into the longhorn symbol?

  • @1223JOEY1223 ask your mom

  • that was stupid lol

  • @pharoahboyramzi its sports

  • is that Tom Cruise as the manager?

  • riverdogs

  • I play baseball, and what we got is call a "key". If you are signing without doing "key" sign, it's nothing. If you are doing random signs until you reach the "key" sign, then the next few sign is the actually signs.

  • GO CRAWDADS THUMBS UP IF YOU NOT WHAT IM TALKING ABOUT

  • @kevinmcmahon30 hell yea, i like in morganton so ive seen a few hickory crawdads games

  • just txt him damit lol

  • @iluvbeargrylls1 its called baseball

  • I had this commercial play on my tv and after, another commercial fused with it and this commercial ended in som1 saying ".com"...i was like WTF LMAO, can u repat that again?

  • This is so true.

  • Go Riverdogs.

  • one person might be deaf

  • baseball sucks

  • @flatchyu you suck

  • @flatchyu suck my dick

  • @flatchyu cuz u suck at it

  • @flatchyu if baseball sucks the dont watch it or commercials i hate soccer so i dont watch it

  • All that for a pickoff?

  • @89Kele Most of them are actually fake. It's to throw people off. I've played baseball before.

  • @shiron236 Their are "fake" signals so people dont pick up on signs

  • @shiron236 Our basketball team did the same thing for baseline fouls. The coach hand-signals the player to pass to the forward from out of bounds, but instead alley-oops it to the center for the dunk.

  • @89Kele And he didn't even get the runner.

  • @KingOfKatamari It's called "keeping the runner on the base", there is just a small chance to pick him out, the runner has to be not paying attention or your pick move and signs have to be really good...

Yes, some are fake, but its a mind game

  • lame

  • @kikeyanez that is because you don't understand baseball.

  • it would have been funnier if the catcher slapped his thigh and flicked the pitcher off.

  • @paragshah2112 You just ended a sentence in a preposition.

  • @simonital did you back trace it and alert the cyber police?

  • the riverdogs is by far the best atmosphere and venue ive ever been too!! its just the right size and family friendly! ive been chosen three times to be in one of there little games in btween innings and got to announce the line up!:) btw charlie t riverdog is amazing! love going there!

  • @FrankAndDaveOutdoors is this the charleston riverdogs. i used to live in charleston and went to their games all the time!

  • might need instant replay for that call at 2nd

  • @ruplayer clearly safe

  • Riverdogs were chosen because of a existing ESPN relationship.

The commercial was shot before a Friday night game. In between Citadel pratice and Riverdog game.

The first shot of the crowd was shot game night. The rest is staged.

  • I'm a ball player, and I must say. There is a special place in hell for umpires. lol jk. love u guys.

  • I live in Charleston and I can't help but wonder why they chose The Riverdogs to be in this commercial.

  • I'm sure it was staged for purposes of the ad. My irritation springs from the bogus, cinematic license-driven depictions of what we do in these fictional representations. More often than not, we're made to look ridiculous rather than in command, inept instead of excellent. I wish fictional portrayals of umpires in film, on television, and in other pop culture media, presented us in a more accurate light, is all.

  • @umpireplb If your talking about him spitting a the end in reference that the coach was pissed at the ump for calling him safe, I feel that you are mistaken. I got out of it that the coach spit as a sign of "Thats right, get the fuck back on the bag" sort of deal. I don't think this was meant to portray the negative aspects of the umps at all.

  • The concept is cute, but why do depictions of umpires in sports videos and films portray us so inaccurately? The base umpire in this ad is not only out of position with a runner on second, he uses the worst mechanics I've ever seen to call the play. He's moving as the play happens, and he throws his arms out and lifts his leg as if he were a dog about to take a pee on a fire hydrant to signal "Safe." Plus, the plate umpire is down in his crouch way too early. No wonder people ridicule us.

  • @umpireplb

Is this from a real game or was it staged for the commercial? It's likely that the umpires are actors, or they were put in those positions for TV drama.

  • @umpireplb...you need to realize this is TV and the "standard" mechanics are boring for TV. You think the coaches and players sign this much every play? NO! It's all fiction in it's context, it's just a TV spot and not real. As for the ridicule, all officials in every sport get it for "questionable" calls, not because of how you're portrayed in this or any commercial or TV spot. Some umpires deserve it as they're horrible at their job, others are great, they get it either way.

  • omg im in this commercial....yay!

  • @redsoxflowseidon33 the funny thing is will all those signs, the pickoff probably wasn't called

  • Hahaha the last one reminded me of MS13 a gang.

  • all of that just for a pickoff. Im a catcher and I know what it's like it just looks good dosent it. lol. Love the vid.

  • YEEEAAAAH HICKORY CRAWDADS!!!

  • Pitcher looks like Eminem!

  • umps looks great !!

  • Loved it! Joe Bonadonna is a great SS.

  • Third base coach was the former varsity coach at our school!

  • I remember going to RiverDogs games as a kid and this commercial made me miss Charleston immensely.

  • Hickory Crawdads!

  • wow thats confusing
