Is it worth going ranger for 1 level just for the favored enemy feat? And if so, what would be the smartest choice for favored enemy? I don't remember any place in particular that game me problems... Well, actually... The mindflayers. Don't remember if they're in the list.
@Neoxym I'd say if you don't know what to pick, go with Human or Undead. They have wide variety of creatures, some are weak but there are strong enemies too.
But still, I'd go for Ranger mostly because of Dual Wield feats. Great syngergy for DEX focused characters like Rogues.
Rangers can have animal companions. You can select it once you reach I think level 2... don't remember that. :D And animal companions are way more useful in combat than familiars cause for animal companion you can chose stronger animals like bears, wolves or black panthers.
Good video. I'll be sure to refer any friends to this. Just one thing I would add to the description is the rule set you are talking about. 3.0 (NWN) to 3.5 (NWN2) isn't that different but AD+D (Baldur's Gate 2) to 3.0 is really different.
Well, the classes don't change enough between AD&D and 3rd Edition for it to affect this particular guide. Besides, this is fairly specific to NWN but can in general be applied to any D&D game. It's the basics after all, and those have been mostly the same since 1st Edition (until you get to 4th at least).
Woah man, perfect timing, I just found my copy of neverwinter nights yesterday. I didn't finish it the first time I played it because I really disliked the class I choose which was monk.
Monks are hard to play well. They're really for the "hardcore" players. Online they're unstoppable (as in "they kill everything in one hit at max level"), but in singleplayer they're not as accessible as, say, a fighter.
2. If you're going for STR based fighter you can mostly ignore DEX, you'll be using Heavy Armor to cover up AC and armors have Max. Dex. bonus rating (Heavy Armors have very low, 1 or 2). This'll take off some pressure from Paladins who need to divide stats evenly.
3. Rangers are good with bows, but their major bonus is that they get dual wield feats for free long as they're wearing light/no armor. Thanks to their naturally high DEX they'll get good use out of Wep. Finesse (same goes for rogues)
Like I said: I'm no expert. I hardly play barbarians and rangers.
Anyway, having at least a decent DEX is vital for hitting your opponent. STR is much more influential on damage rolls. Both are important for warrior classes, not one or the other. Yes, DEX is more important when using lighter weapons, but it's also very handy for others, especially the exotic weapons.
Pretty good, this is very close to what I had in mind. I do need to correct couple things though:
1. Attack Bonus (AB) is determined EITHER by STR or DEX, not solely by DEX. STR is used by default to determine AB & bonus damage, whereas DEX governs ranged weapon AB (bows, slings etc.). There is however an exception, Weapon Finesse allows your char to use DEX instead of STR to determine AB with small weapons (daggers, short swords, rapiers etc.) if it's higher than your STR.

Not really sure if it'd be all that much help. I typically don't play ranger all that much and am by no means an expert on this.

Actually it uses plain 3rd Edition. Troika's game Temple of Elemental Evil uses 3.5.

Not regularly.

I think the best prestige class for a fighter is weapon master, but it's suck because you're stuck with one type of weapon only
Dfrosty1987 7 months ago
I go over the prestige classes in video 4.

I thought so. It's been a while since I've played a ranger so I'm pretty rusty on them.

Should i buy this game? On sale for 7 bucks on Steam today.
3dayzgracerox 8 months ago
It's NWN2 that's on sale, and for the Platinum Edition, $7 is well worth it. Just be prepared for tons of bugs.
DWTerminator 8 months ago
@3dayzgracerox I HIGHLY suggest Kaedrin's pack for the extra content and MANY bug fixes, if you get NwN2.
