I was surprised to figure out that I could squeeze out 25 avg fps with 16xQ AA 1440x900 and Very High setting on the GPU Benchmark. I still wonder if that was accurate and if there wasn't any flaws in the benchmark...

i like the nvidia cards, good tech, but crap value. i can get around 30fps avg on crysis in dx10 with all settings to very high and 1280 x 1024 4xaa on my hd4850, which im more than happy with, and i saved over NZ$100 over buying a gtx 260 which only gets a piddly couple more fps anyway. and the card can run as hot as it wants, still does the job well. and the other reason i didnt go nvidia was because i hate nvidia owners.

A real gamer would now that a videocards greatness depends on his chipset and the speed of the memory. So the difference between 512 MB and 1 GB is not very much maybe 4% or something. And the 1 GB is much pricier.

LOL FAKE!!! The avrage fps is about 25 not 25 - 35. I saw once he hit 36fps but rest of the time he was below 30. And if its recorded with fraps, why do i hear the sound of you in the background?

According to Tomshardwares Crysis tests with all videocards it shows that its very hard to get over 33 fps with even medium settings at 1280x1024... Nvidia performs better on Crysis, with a margin of 1-3 more FPS, LOL. On all other games, its ATI who rules today with or without Crossfire/SLI.

Hardly...Their ( series suck, and the 200 series are too expensive. A 4870 1gb beats the gtx260. The 4870x2 is the best card out atm. And the gtx280 can be beaten by the 4850 and 4870, which are half the price.

I have mine HD4850 runnin with TT DuOrb, idle 32-35 °C and 38-40 °C only for 40$ extra!!! And u can obtain amazing overclock, more than 750mhz on GPU!!!

actually, 4850s with the reference cooler do get that hot depending on the manufacturer, like diamond and his. since my post before they have been coming out with better dual slot coolers such as sapphire and XFX who are making ATI cards. i just so happened to buy an XFX 4850. my question to you, have you tried overclocking to 750mhz? i wont even touch my overclock, ATI cards arent warranted for overclocking and i heard the slightest overclock on these things can cause absolute hell in ur comp.

ATI driverss work well and keep getting better. ATI is doing a good job with supporting the RADEON series.

your CPU may be a bottleneck try OC'ing a bit maybe to 3.7 or 4ghz it should give you a significant improvement and maybe one more GB of ram may help under 32Bit.

See, something's fishy about that. you have the 4850 so I can believe that you've been supporting amd/ati, but there's no way you had a 2900xt if you would say that crysis is unplayable on it. Like I said, *very* playable on very high settings.

Here, this guy has a video using a rig very similar to mine (his processor is a max, and mine is just 6000+) and running crysis at max settings.

If you look closely the guy was only getting around 25fps in that benchmark. Also CF doesn't scale well in Crysis compared to SLI hence the bad performance from dual ATI cards.

yeah and in the end of the benchmark i got like 21 FPS AVG after 1 loop and 23 FPS after 3 loops.

but that's only because of a few drops that ruined the AVG :(

yeah i know he only got like 25 but on all the other vids/reviews ive seen with NO aa it only got about 25. and yeah i noticed how horribly ati cf scales in crysis, it is funny with their best card you only get like 35-40 avg no aa in cf but with 2 gtx 280's u can max it out with 16xq aa on pretty much as high a resolution as you wanna play at and still get like 35 on the highest lol.

nVidias cards are far more optimized in Crysis not to mention Crysis is pretty badly optimized anyway.

But either way, it really depends on his setup. The HD4850 is very much capable of the framerates he's getting at those sttings with a good pair of RAM, motherboard, CPU to go with it with moderate overclocks on everything.
