I like this version very much. For me this piece sounds much more beautiful when played slowly. You can’t enjoy this piece if it is played to fast because you just simply miss all the beauty. To me it is one of the best versions.
@valseoubliee here in America when someone writes, 'that song is the shit' , it usually means it's amazing, fantastic, brilliant and a great creation. thus, i'm learning this shit now LOL :D
It sounds pretty to me. This is what I like about Youtube, I get to hear and watch people play or sing that I normally wouldn't ever get to see from around the world. I don't even have to leave fancy comments about what I may think I know.
What makes this performance so special, in my view, is the TENSION that the artist is able to create. This interpretation is not just 'beautiful, sweet, smooth' like so many others on youtube - it is also very INTENSE. The same intensity I find only in Rachmaninoff's recording of this nocturne...
Yundi Li: 6 Mio views, 2000 listeners in the hall. Vadim Chaimovich: 44000 views, 50 listeners in the hall. Funny fact: This performance is the better one. Seriously.
@CNFrostXY This is true. However, you should not forget that, although his possessing the gold medal is a fact, awarding it to him was, in its turn, due to the opinion of a few other people... Interestingly enough, if you watch the legendary documentary film about the greatest pianists of the 20th century (Hoffman, Richter, Horowitz, Gilels, Cortot, Arrau, Cziffra, to name but a few), not a single winner of the Chopin competition is among them. Which probably only shows that opinions differ.
@op83bdur I am simply criticising 'Freistaat1918''s comment due to its naive nature. I am in no way implying that Yundi Li is the best chopin interpretator (though I do admire his playing and would rank him along the top for chopin redentions). Again - 'greatest pianists' simply meant that they were more famous(well-known)than the other ones, it does not imply they are the best for a particular type of music (it may). On a sidenote, my favourite pianists for chopin are Ashkenazy, Li and Ohlsson.
@CNFrostXY I think we all tend to forget that every statement should actually be preceeded by "in my humble opinion", to be quite exact. As for the "greatness = fame of musicians" formula, I would disagree here. To give one example: Lang Lang ist the most famous living pinist - but is he also the 'greatest' one? I beleive that very many people, especially those who know a thing or to about the art of piano play, would like to disagree with that...
@op83bdur Okay you have lost the point, no further discussion needed as Freistaat1918 have privately resolved the problem with me, he simply over used an hyperbole that's all, nothing more. But also just a note of reminder you should not forget some 'statistics' are also important -not exactly opinions. On Lang Lang, he is only a very young pianist and is still changing his styles quiet often (if you do listen), proffesionals in fact regard him very highly(especially those in conservatoirs).
@Freistaat1918 I think this is a case of Yundi Li deserving those 6mill views and 2000 listeners, but Vadim Chaimovich deserves just as many (Or even more)

Very good. Im learning this piece on my own right now. Love Chopin:s music. This is a nice interpretation. Good recording and a nice tone. Like your cres. dim. part in end.
lmao who dislikes this? maybe a cat cuz my cat hates piano lol thats the only living thing i can think of that would be able to have an opinion that could possibly dislike this..
I usually abhor poetry simply due to natural dislike, but listening to this interpretation made me want to look up some poetry about nature and how mankind is changing it all for the sake of politics and other things which don't serve anyone or anything any good. 5 out of 5 stars
Our sense fall into the pleasure of a large sound festival, by hearing this great performance. Resting on one hand, the pure enjoyment of this sensitive experience touches our soul and the sun rises. :O) Thank you so much for sharing your great talent.
Great Chopin, I enjoy the piece

There is something exceptional about this particular performance.
Its mastery ,control and and an obvious affinity the performer has for the work.
Well done a great artistic achievement.
Perhaps even greater because of its nonchalance and effortlessness

This is absolutely sublime. I haven't heard a better rendition. Don't ever stop playing, friend.

Pretty awesome a piece of music endures and is played several lifetimes after it is composed, and still sounds beautiful to those who hear.
