  • I am a christian and i believe this guy has some good points, but his preaching style is unbearable. Like be all awkward then go into a full shout rage and nearly fall over? I almost stopped watching.

  • Awesome!!!

  • I think he is not a follower of Christ is what he's saying. He is trying to distract who ever maybe listening. But of us that are aware, that's all he can do.

  • The sudden change of pace, lowering of his head, and the big gestures are very weird.

He seems feminine and full of his mother, who he mentions quite a bit.

His wife's name is "Noël Henry" and both Noel and Henry are names for men. (David Bowie is married to a very masculine lady called "Iman.")

What does Christianity have to do with being neutre? Nothing? Piper, and Jesus seem to me to be gender neutral.

  • @timtak1 uh well thats quite the observation but u hav completely missed the point. His gestures and wat his wife's name is isnt wats important my friend. I must say that u see things i wouldnt even think to look for but the part u should really be observing is the message. And im confused as to wat u mean by Jesus being gender neutral?

  • @Dthemachine07 Jesus is a man, who abhors violence, and lauds infants. Not only are his sexual acts unmentioned, he repudiate sexuality, "But I say to you that whoever looks at a woman to lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his" (WOW!). As Nietzche quipped, it is more than our eye he is encouraging men to pluck out. Paul, and the Catholic Church, praise celebacy! Christianity's 2 main festivals celebrate birth. And it is a religion of the Father, the parent, man made mother.

  • @timtak1 oh ok i misinterpreted wat u were saying in ur last comment, and so i think i see wat ur saying

  • Actually, Our Lord Jesus Christ used the Word of God against Satan...

Here you are eight usefull and powerfull reasons to memorize scriptures from the Bible...God bless you and yours

  • Do you want to believe that there is an all powerful, eternal entity that watches you while you sleep; can convict you of thought crime; can take your most involuntary passing thought and use it to condemn you for ever? Do you want to have invigilation every second of your life, from “before you are born” and, yes, even after death?

A celestial North Korea! That’s what you desire! Except you can get away from that despicable regime by dying!!

No such luck for the religious! (CH)

  • G.R.E.A.T.!!!

  • He called Satan God of this world.

  • @TheDvnm123 2 Corinthians 4:4

  • @TheDvnm123 In a way that is true, people who live without God have actually satan as their ruler, only the blood of His Son, Jesus Christ can buy you so you change from owner.

John 14:30 I will not now speak many things with you. For the prince of this world cometh, and in me he hath not any thing.

  • What's going to happen after we die? Watch "GOD'S PRISON" and find out. It's worth the time considering the eternal stake.

  • Awesome sermon thanks for sharing!

  • this man is a great man of God and i am glade that i got to the priviledge of being in the same time-frame as him.

  • Haa...My fav verse "I can do all things through Christ who strengthen me"

The Joy of the Lord is My Strength.

  • With reference to the statement around about 2:18...

    Learn this passage:

    Luke 14:26

    New International Version (NIV)

26 “If anyone comes to me and does not hate father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters—yes, even their own life—such a person cannot be my disciple.

    Peace and clarity

  • I found JP a little melodramatic.

Nonetheless I have some scriptures for you all to memorize:

    Read this folks!

This is just a sample of the words of wisdom and morality you can find in your book: Deut 25:11-12 Genesis 38:8-10 Deut 21:18-21 Ex 35:2 Lev 20:13 Isaiah 13:13-16 Exodus 21:20-21 1 Tim 2:11-12 Col 3:22-23 Luke 14:26 Deut 22:13-21 Isaiah 40:8

They should be a help and a comfort to you.

  • I think my favorite scripture is 2 Cor. 10:5 We are destroying speculations and every lofty thing raised up against the knowledge of God, and we are taking every thought captive to the obedience of Christ, 6and we are ready to punish all disobedience, whenever your obedience is complete.

  • This is so true especially as it relates to spiritual warfare

  • Personal experiance: thsi true!

  • Mannnnnnnnnnn John Piper is always telling the truth on God lml

  • AWESOME !!!!

  • my current favorite verse is "no eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined what God has in store for those who love him" 1 corinthians 2:9...such a stress reliever:)

  • Was this verse overlooked somehow? Who needs eight sentences when one verse says it all? :)

(Psalms 119:11 NKJV) Your word I have hidden in my heart, That I might not sin against You.

(Psalms 119:11 HOT) בלבי צפנתי אמרתך למען לא אחטא־לך׃

May I recommend the videos on the "teamim" channel as a touchstone for the KIND of deep emotion one should have for and from the Scriptures - not at all like the Protestant sentimentality that too often substitutes for it.

  • God said his people (not the worlds) ate destroyed for a lack of something. They wont know what if they dont use the sword of the spirit.

  • God bless You John. Love yo in Christ.

  • Be blessed my precious brother. You are an inspiration to so many that will never have the opportunity to thank you in person. I know you are to me. "I will worship toward thy holy temple, and praise thy name for thy lovingkindness and for thy truth: for thou hast magnified thy word above all thy name." Psalm 138:2 (kjv)

  • Pastor John is a wonderful man. His love for God is always evident. We could use 1000 more just like him.

  • Memorizing the bible makes as much sense as memorizing the Quran, or the " book of the dead". It`s a complete waste of time.

  • @lizazoon Dicipline for any important idea requires memorization. Medicine, mathmatics, science, music, car mechanic, anything. It ncludes wanting

to live your life in unity with the universe. To find a path of peace combined with a love and a purpose for our love. Prayer starts that journey. Memorizing things that inspire is good for a humans "nature". The Blble inspires humans.

Those whose purpose it is to mock and be critical of a commited diciplined life expose inner torment.

  • @charles43110 Go ahead, man, waste your time memorizing nonsense written by ignorant goat-herders 3.000 years ago. In the meantime you won`t bother anyboy else.

The bible(the O.T.) is the greatest accumulation of nonsense ever assmbled by man

  • @lizazoon Ignorant goat-herders huh? So everyone from the past is ignorant. The Old testament is simply a record of Israel's history. You may not like their God, you may not even believe he exists, but one day you will submit to him. You are a slave to whatever you are obedient to, either to God, resulting in life, or rebellion, resulting in everlasting death. Whether you believe it or not, God is the only thing that satisfies, nothing else can, He is what we are designed for. Choose Life.

  • @lizazoon Obviously if you think a book is dead then memorising it would be a waste of time. But to us Christians, the bible is a living, breathing thing (2 Timothy 3:16). To us, these words are just as real, relevant and life-giving as the food that we eat. I pray that God finds your heart.

  • WOW at 2;08 he felt something...........forget keeping it cool. When the word hits you in the gut there's no keeping it "Cathloic priest like" love the passion.

  • When he gets to 2:04 --- whoa.

  • Great reasons to take the trouble to memorize scripture.

John Piper is such a good teacher!

  • check our sermon out

  • 2:20 and on = epic spartan war cry

  • I would love to have tis video with spanish subtitles, i could translate it.

  • How true!! Memorizing scripture is very valuable when witnessing to the lost as well.

  • Very inspiring. We've been walking around with little "pocket knives" instead of swords. Now, my family is writing our own Scripture songs to help us memorize. Thanks John, we're looking forward to more of your videos!

  • Galatians 5:16

  • When I was in Teen Challenge we memorized lots of Scripture. Victory Over Sin, Satan, and Evil Thoughts was the heading for memorizing 4 groups of Scripture, about 50 verses. James 4:7 comes to mind-Submit yourselves therefore to God, resist the devil, and he will flee from you. It is VERY important to memorize Scripture.

    - - On a lighter note, I wonder if Mr. Piper had a brother named Peter?

  • @WillysWoodPile peter piper lol funny one mate, old english nursery rhyme we once cherrished................on the south side of Chicago lol. John Piper i don't know what i'll do if i meet this man of God. He's such a vesel being used by God

  • @asheyblack - When I was in Teen Challenge I met some people from the South side of Chicago. They have all sorts of really interesting stories. It's a really rough part of town.

  • @WillysWoodPile

haha Peter Piper peppered pundits with people's 'pinions.

On a heavier note, i memorized many scriptures when young, because I was supposed to do so.

Plus I had an excellent memory then. Over the years, I've found that deep study and meditation has had a much larger effect on my life. His words abiding in us means more than simply memorized scripture residing in our brain. However that is probably a good start. Just saying.

  • John 10:10

The thief comes not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.

  • SoldierofChrist12345. Wht r saying? Please explain.

  • Jesus is alive!

  • I have to say a big Amen to this. I started memorizing the Word in 1960 and was discipled by the Navigators in Germany. I memorized the Topical Memory System which is available from them for less than ten bucks. I finished it, and went on the memorize about 3000 verses. I have forgotten many of them, but now at age 70, they have rescued me hundreds of times. If you are not memorizing the Word of God, please start. It is easier when you are young, and the devil does not want you to do this

  • AMEN!!!

  • john piper is incredible!!!!!!!

  • Woo!

  • This is so good.

  • amen to that, powerful message,

  • i ve been doing bible memorization and it´s been amazing of how i m growing in my relationship with God. This such a good thing for us to DO thank´s Piper for the hint.

  • John Piper goes Hard !!!!

  • Very sweet indeed...

  • Great Video..............

  • i dont agree with the satan being a million times more powerful than us part

  • y not.... SATAN is very powerful....

that's why its so hard to be

    a good christian....

im not sure if this is true but i heard that

satan can do everything GOD can do except

the power to give and take life....

u can correct me on this

  • Satan isnt that powerful we give him too much credit. Hes not as powerful as God,Gods omnipotent why would he create something as powerful as him. Satans not omnipresent like God. He can only be in one place at a time just like every other angel/ demon... Its so hard to be a christian because of 3 factors. And in my opinion in order of power. 1. Our flesh. 2. The world . 3. Satan... Satan cant make you do anything, he can only tempt you. You have to make the decision of yes and no.

  • u maybe right.............

we cant fight back against Satan...

all we can do is either run

    or stand our ground....this

was given to me by my pastor

i would hope to learn more about GOD..

  • Satan can only do what God allows him to do. I get this from the book of Job.

  • Well said!

  • Actually yes satan is a million times more powerful than you, read the book of Job and you will see. However in Christ you are seated in heavenly places far above satan, but you must use God's word in your heavenly position to attack/defend him. Jesus himself had to use Gods word!

An unbeliever only lives by the grace and mercy of God, cuz outside of Gods mercy and authority over the enemy he would wipe this world clean! A mere dust man cannot fight against satan a powerful spirit being

  • He might be a million times powerful then you, but not me.. Im a giant overcomer, I can do all things thru Christ that strengthens, and greater is he who is in me then he whos in the world...

  • If I do not sin and follow Jesus Christ then the enemy would have no power over me whatsoever unless it were given to Him from above.

  • Amen, brother.

  • as a brother in christ make sure your humble and not point out other people

  • @bdav1989

at the same time, we need to make sure and rebuke those that are in need of it. If they are rebuked and repent, we shall forgive them. Luke 17:3

  • Lots of self in your statement. Satan is more powerful than YOU, NOT Jesus. Jesus is the Word(John 1:1). If you don't have the Word in you, you are powerless. It's NOT you. You are not a giant killer, Jesus is. Do your best to show yourself approved..(2Timothy 2:15).

God is NOT a pinata, and YOU can speak all you want, but His will will be done. Get out of the Joel Osteen stuff and read more Bible, and pray. Peace.

  • Can you cause boils to pop up on someone? Can you cause wind to be of such force that knocks down a house?

  • is it really that bad of a thing for the reality of the schemes of the devil to be instilled in us? We have to know what weapons to take into battle

  • This disturbed me quite a bit, the soft tone of voice, the shouting, the attempt to instil in people this fear of "the devil."

    Very unpleasant.

  • would you say that someone telling you that there is a lion on the loose, to protect your family and yourself. The lion hasn't eaten in days and is "roaming around seeking someone to devour" you would not casually say with your little child in hand... could you not shout and instil fear like that. You would be of sober spirit and be on the alert (1Pet 5:8) (Eph 6:10-17) I hope that the message of memorizing the Word will bring deeper revelation and fruit to my life.

  • This sermon has been extremely fruitful for me. During the last week I've been memorizing psalms and important scriptures and it has really improved my prayer life as well as my day to day struggle with sin. Such a powerful sword.

  • @damildlyshreddah wow me too.

  • I have a feeling our brothers and sisters in areas of heavy persecution have less apathy about memorizing Scripture. But perhaps the day is coming when Bibles won't be as readily available here either; then, we will wish we had been more diligent.

  • I loved this sermon.

  • Same for me...it changed my life!

  • AMEN!

  • Well, there you have it. Memorization has always been hard for me. After watching this, I better try harder. Thanks.
