  • 3:21 when Stevie says "or you can sting it" and then hits the note and the reporter backs away! It's like the note just punched him in the face! This is why S.R.V was so good!

  • was he on heroin?

  • @Monchi2006 Drank Cocaine

  • @Monchi2006 he was up to a quarter ounce a day, but he got clean.

  • @spicecrop yeah i saw the vh1 legends, i remember the mixing whiskey with cocaine, but in this video he looks like he's on smack, not on cocaine at all.

  • @Monchi2006 in fact i came looking for tht interview where he sez:well im still married to my first wife which is my guitar, she dont talk back to me she talk for me" 15 years still remembr

  • He's stoned like crazy.

  • 6:19 man tear

  • mirin

  • what a cool chill dude, nothin better than seeing someone being honest and expressing themselves, awesome.

  • This was a real guy. I don't know if that makes sense, but he was real genuine.

  • SRV looks in a pretty bad way tho. This can't have been too long before he kicked his addictions. The guitar playing is still amazing though

  • When you can play guitar like him, you can wear whatever the hell you want.

  • @thewanderingjew22 he looks fucking cool man.

  • I can hear the Uni-Vibe in the background while he's playing.

  • @RLW1967 good ear. didn't notice it at first...

  • joking that this is your first wife "no not joking at all"

    interviewer don't get it !!!

  • @freedomsoldier187 no doubt, you need to be a player to understand the relationship we have with our number one guitar, huh?

  • 7:16 epic nodding XD

  • 0 Dislikes FTW !! :D

    R.I.P SRV :(

  • "Well its not joking at all."

    I love that correction! Hahaha!

  • Great interview

  • his voice is amazing .

  • No dislike

  • texas navey?

  • @gabbahey66 There was a Texas Navybut like in the mid 1800's but I am pretty frigging sure he wasn't that old !!!

  • he didnt stay with his 2nd wife for a long time...

  • I wish youtube has a "Tracking" pot :P

  • Masters

  • What an inspiration... I have no words

  • he has got massive hands

  • This is totally off topic but why is there a gumball machine at 9:29?

  • I love how he doesn't care about the stupid questions about publicity.. All he cares about is music! If only musicians were still like that!!!!

  • Stevie Ray Vaughn= Oak Cliff,Texas

  • Interviewer:"so this is you call it...sort of have jokingly your 1st wife"

SRV: "am not joking at all"

awesome... i knw hw dat feels

  • It's amazing how different he was after he got off the coke. He's obviously blasted out of his mind here, but in later interviews he is so on top of things.

  • stevie ray could make an album with no bass/drums, just electric guitar. And it would still be amazing.

  • Just like Rory Gallagher, Stevie was a beautiful human being...

  • any1 know what pickups he's using?

  • @vivalasexy Danelectro Lipstick Pickups, i guess.

  • As far as who inspired who I read Stevie wanted to quit guitar at one point but got really influenced by hendrix and kept going also his brother encouraged him to keep at it.

  • I could feel those blues rifts and it felt good, when will we have another like him or Hendrix that can make those blues songs

  • I wonder if the host had any idea just how lucky he was to have his job that day.

  • Interviewer: You were discovered

Stevie: By my parents-I popped out I popped out and my parents said, "There he is!"

Interviewer: Someone said it was Mick Jagger

  • Comment removed

  • "The tones and the way you feel them is the music itself" Briliant!

  • the guy is just phenomenal. I ALWAYS come back to SRV he was just a fucking genuine brilliant player and brilliant guy!!

  • Who inspired who, Jimi to Stevie, Stevie to Jimi or did they were like mutual, each inspiring each other?

  • @juanlash Jimi to Stevie. But if Jimi would have still been around when Stevie was playing then it would have definitely been mutual!

  • @juanlash Jimi Hendrix to stevie. How do you no know that..? Jimi was born way before him

  • @Tayshaun100 not*

  • i bought a vibe pedal because of this: 6:21

It doesnt sound as cool, but it gets me a bit close...

  • This is a great interview,,,,better than some others,,,,

  • stevie is the greatest guitar player ever. but he needed to brush his teeth more.

  • @bisp25 Totally agree. But hey, when you're drunk/high all the time like Stevie was at this time, then you don't have time to brush your teeth haha. He totally did clean up his teeth when he got clean though!

  • Stevie is high on something....?way to goo

  • no dislikes.. amazing. lets keep it up

  • i think he looks like charles shaughnessy

  • I remember when ALL tv looked like that!! Wish ya were here today Stevie

  • this guy has no fucking idea how lucky he is.

  • He looks like a frikkin pimp!

  • @MJlonir9 Stevie was a pimp. R.I.P.

  • @MJlonir9 So what? Jimi Hendrix, did too.

  • fucker looks like mr.shetfield from the nanny

  • Anybody else ever notice that SRV looks like Bud Bundy? (David Faustino)?

  • @Vulturefood THE INTERVIEWER!

  • Seems like a very emotional guy....

  • LOVE EVERYTHING STEVIE RAY VAUGHAN !!!

  • what pedal is he using?

  • jimi was jimi no question but srv is super special

  • Stevie Ray Vaughan is an awesome guitar player

  • stevie can not play without a feeling !!!!!

  • 7:13 his fingers are thicker than my dick...lol

  • This interviewer is a complete retard. After this interview, he probably went home to Mommy and Daddy to eat his mac and cheese and fish sticks. That chicken shit knows nothing of the blues.

  • i hope when its my time to go,i get to go to heaven,so i can see stevie & jimi, coheadlining and jamming togrther on a few songs.

  • Fucking soul around the 7 minute mark, man I can't get over his talent, he was gone before I discovered him, but his guitar work inspires every note I play.

  • he has a univibe there right?

  • Comment removed

  • @dnnysrock It could be a UniVibe mixed back a bit but I doubt it. This sounds a bit more subtle than a UniVibe. Less swoosh. The Fender Vibratone rotary speaker is what he used on gigs ( same as Jimi used on Little Wing ) . He kept the straight amp speakers going at the same time .

  • @Geepsterr Yeah, he's got a very unique set up to go. People forget he always chained several amps together for sounds. This however is not a vibratone in this video. I've owned the same year one stevie had and it sounds nothing like this. I definetly believe it's a microvibe or Univibe like stated.

  • 5 tremolo strings?! Didn't know that.

  • @andros1984 yea. he had those big o strings on there

  • God that interviewer was terrible. Does he know what a guitar or blues is?

  • Yes, the wah wah pedal is the pedal that makes the wah wah sound. Someone deserves a treat.

  • perfect cover of castles made of sand =\

  • this interviewer is a classic piece of something. the sweater is perfect.

  • that interviewer guy is pretty cool for a Canadian

  • It was certainly better than the ASSinio interview...

  • I love this interviewer =]] he's so respectful of SRV and his music and he seems to genuinely appreciate what SRV was doing for music.

  • What a hokey interviewer

  • I wonder how owns the true Lenny?

  • @stanleystar1 his wife

  • @WaltonWembleyMusic His first wife or the second one he married after his rehabilitation

  • @stanleystar1 lenora

  • hes so wasted during this its so amazing yet so sad ,

  • Did he just eat the pick at 4:32?

  • @JoshuYT It looked like it but I doubt it! :)

  • the interviewer it scared at 3:22 when stevie plays that note hhaha

  • dorkiest interviewer

  • For some reason his voice and guitar playing and beard at 6:40 reminds me of John Frusciante

  • @tchek1980 I would have loved to see the two of them play together.

  • allan young trying to "groove" is the most uncomfortable thing i have seen

  • poor guy, he looks like a mess....god bless SRV!

  • Does anyone agree that the interviewer looks like Allan Young from Mr. Ed?

  • @CoryWellsIsHeaven Wow...I never noticed that before...He does look like Allan Young.

  • he was taken waaaaaay to soon,,,, RIP Stevie you are missed!!!!!

  • IS Stevie using a Silverface super reverb on this interview?? if he does, i'm one lucky guy, cause i have just the same amp!

  • rip SRV

  • hahahaha.

the interviewers like HURRRRR CAN YOU PLAY IT WITHOUT FEELING?

And Stevie's like Lol no, idiot.

  • Comment removed

  • Normally you would expect on this type of show some jackass interviewing him with no musical taste and almost being insulting, but this interviewer did a not bad job, he seemed to now a little bit about music and showed a lot of respect. Nice to see.

  • current reduction to tears

  • This might sound strange, but he 'almost' looks like Eddie Vedder in this interview. Or vice-versa. Either way, he's amazing!

  • So jealous of the host ! That must have been such an experience. Most likely the guy had to shit bricks after listening to SRV play so close, so loud and so good.

  • Is that the dad from the Nanny interviewing him ?? hahahahaa

  • Texas Favorite Son!!! So glad i'm from Dallas :D

  • Great interview

  • Was he still on Coke here?

  • yeah this was a year before he quit

  • @TezRay yeah i think so

  • You can tell he has music in him all the time because he rocks from side to side feeling music that isn't even there! Wish i could have seen you before you died SRV. R.I.P man

  • @K1RKYD I think that's prolly his high your seeing...not a natural one either.

  • The brightest stars burn out to quickest. SRV is a legend and one humble guy to boot. Sorely missed!

  • The greatest guitar player ever. Period. But you can tell this interview is from before he got clean! Watch one from later years. Totally different.

  • Great fricken interview !

  • Does SRV have Telecaster Lipstick pickups in that white Stratocaster?

  • @DJParkesie959II No, a Danelectro Lipstick pickups ;)

  • @DJParkesie959II he sure does

  • that guitar is beautiful. his music. stunnin. a man. truely genuis

  • 3:10 Castles Made of Sand

  • @ 5:02....."well, it's not a joke at all". Classic. Man, I miss this guy.

  • you know tons of people compared him to Hendrix but I never saw the simlarities til this Interview. His answers are just like Hendrix's (Watch some Hendrix interviews and you will see) Those two just had "IT" I wish I knew what "IT" was but your just drawn to them. Two amazing guitarists, and even better people. The world would be a much better place if those two hadn't passed on...but I guess God needs some badass guitar teachers lol

  • @TheBucket4Life i know right? they are amazing guitar players.

  • Yea this guy is a complete moron. I'm gonna go ahead and say that if you dont know shit about the musician or his style of music you probably shouldnt be doing an interview with him/her......ever. Yea you MTV!!! lol Music Television....i'm gonna go throw up now.

  • Texas has it's own navy??????

  • Is it just me or is his fretboard really scalloped?

  • @tonyiommi87 Nope. I got one of his friends to make me a guitar simliar to Charlie down here in Texas an Stevie didn't use scalloped fretboards. Basically everything you need to have a SRV guitar: Fat Neck (Stevie's on #1 was a D neck) , really big frets, heavy strings, and hot pickups.

  • I love this interview. lol watch the announcer get scared and back away when Stevie says "you can sting it"

  • This Interviewer is a fruit

  • What's the name of the song he plays from 6:20?

  • @nebukanezer73 lol never mind, since he actually says it after the song! :)

  • @nebukanezer73 Yes...SRV says it at 7:48 Life without you.

  • @nebukanezer73 i think its improv

  • great inteview....any interview of Stevie is great. First time ive ever seen this. THX for sharing the rare footage. I dig the into he play to Hendrix Castles Made of Sand.

  • Geepers, Stevie had many songs and after all albums in top 40, maybe not on Billboard, but he had in mainstream.

  • you always feel it first.. then you learn how to do it.

  • Lol...I love it! Stevie calling his guitars his "wives". The interviewer said "you're joking"...Stevie said..."I'm not joking"...LOL

  • @shamuswinston lol he got shutdown

  • wish i could have seen him live

  • I don't believe the story about him practicing at home. He was from another planet.

  • he seams like a really nice and awesome guy

  • @mcdebi , Top 40 ? No . I think Texas Flood must have been on some regional and/or specialized charts. Never a Billboard top 40 mainstream hit , which represents all popular styles, world wide . Elvis had a 107, Beatles 49, Stones 41, Ray Charles 33, CCR 14, Clapton 14, Santana 10 +, BB King 6, Led Zeppelin 6, Cream 3, & Hendrix 1. There are many more but I've just listed some blues / rock examples. Perhaps not coincidentally all are inductees of the R&R Hall of Fame.

  • @Geepsterr Michael Jackson love or hate em he had his fair share as well!

  • @nat00ben06 Michael Jackson? Yes he did : Plenty . No I don't like him, but yeah: HE had top 40 hits, a bunch of em , almost as many as Ray Charles .

  • @Geepsterr Rock n' roll hall of fame is a bit of joke. None of the judges decide who gets in or not are musicians and i just don't see how that makes sense. They don't put bands in based on commercial success or what every body else likes, but more off of personal preference. For example, guys like SRV, Hendrix, and ACDC are all in there but they've forgotten about guys like the doobie brothers who are icons. I think the sex pistols had the right idea turning em down.

  • @barbedwireplayer You've shown that you don't know that SRV is not in the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame so I guess you also don't know why . Read the criteria for eligibility at least before you give a dissertation on this reputable organization . Understand SRV has not met the criteria to be nominated .

  • @Geepsterr you know i actually remembered that he wasn't in right after i posted that stupid thing but was too lazy to change it, so that's my fault. I just don't like, and i think i can speak for more than just myself, that these people who run and judge it are not musicians. They don't speak the lingo like musicians do. You can't tell me that a person knows music better than say.... someone who is a classically trained jazz guitarist or a keyboardist who has been in a band since they were 12.

  • @barbedwireplayer I agree in large part about how well they know music BUT it is a Hall of Fame ...."FAME" not a Deans list at an Institute of Music. Some are critics, some A & R guys & some musicians, etc. I think it better that they not be musicians. If they were a compendium of record store owners that might be ideal. Musicians are not the best judges of the effect of music on listeners. Who is music for? listeners or musicians ?

  • @Geepsterr it's a fair debate and the obvious answer is that music is for everyone. But who should decide who gets recognized for the hall of fame? listeners or musicians? Also i did a little more digging and i found several articles stating that the hall of fame judges choose bands from personal preference not just fame. I think it would be great to have a balanced panel of judges. Listeners, musicians, record store owners, teachers, etc to get together and do it, that way everyone is happy.

  • @barbedwireplayer I enjoy my own playing but I play to listeners (many whom consider themselves musicians & less than 1% really are) . You make good points but the R n R hall of fame is a private institution . Consider Billboard top 40 is sales & radio. American Music Awards is popularity & Grammy Awards is industry professionals. That makes 4 places to be honored. As for SRV, Hall of Fame judges are not the matter . He does not meet the criteria of eligibility which is clearly defined .

  • @barbedwireplayer your an idiot

  • @jimbobg100 how am i an idiot? Just because someone has an opinion different from yours doesnt make them an idiot.

  • it took 30 seconds to name all his achievements and awards, which is a long time...

so imaging if he was still alive, just how long that list would be? there would be countless awards.

  • Stop kiding yourself Geepsterr, Stevie had many songs in top 40, mainstream, tv, radio, etc... You name it. He won many Grammies, he was n
