  • Actually,Rooney is more similar ''Lisbeth Salander'' than Noomi.According to the books,Lisbeth seems like Rooney but although that I prefer Noomi.I watched Swedish version first, maybe that's the reason why I liked her but I think she is much more charismatic.

Also I reckon Mikael Blomkvist=Stieg Larsson.

  • Noomi, but thats the opinion of someone who has not read the books (i do not read paper books unless its needed) and has only seen the movies and is basing his opinion on said movies.

Not to say i din't enjoy Rooney's version by the way. I went and saw the film expecting a dramaticly failing hollywood ripoff of what to me is the origional, Hollywood has a reputation of f*ck*ng up that what is good, but it turned out to be pretty darn good movie and performance of all actors involved.

  • Noomi Rapace!

  • Noomi is much better actress and fits the character perfectly. Not to mention shes zillion times sexier.

  • 2 movie choices that will always win you an Oscar:

play someone in a Nazi movie OR

a characters with a disability. (Sometimes that's kinda the same thing.)

Therefore, Rooney should win the Oscar.

Simple matter of statistics. And: she was great.

  • i hate to say, Rooney Mara...

  • Rooney Mara was absolutely amazing. I can't wait for the girl who played with fire (American)

  • The Swedish Version is great! However, I honestly preffer the American adaption of the novel because first of all it had much bigger budget. A listed and or great up and coming actors of Hollywood. The movie wasn't just gruesome like the Swedish version, it was a very dark film the setting and everything is just beautiful.Lastly, Come ON! Noomi Pace did play the part first but doesn't mean she did it better. Noomi acted as Lisbeth. Rooney WAS Lisbeth in EVERY WAY! Still I love the movies both

  • The Real Lisbeth is Rooney Mara, hands downs the best Acting. i have seen boths.

  • rooney mara!!!!! i loved

  • I can not choose. excellent representations of the two actresses.

  • ROONEY MARA! She's got innocent eyes of abused girl. That's Lisbeth Salander to me

  • Rooney Mara Forever!

  • Both are great. I can't really pick.

  • rooney mara is a perfect lisbeth as cescribed in larson's trilogy: having a totally "vulnerable" look. on the other side i find noomi rapace quite beautiful in her own way, separated from the community but not that incapable of communicating with others. what is more, like lisbeth in the book, noomi did'nt answer questions about her personal life and left the room when mikael asked her if she had a photographic memory. thumbs up for both of them !

  • Rooney Mara, because she truly acted. She became a Lisbeth!

  • Rooney Mara votes should've been assigned to Thumbs Up instead.

  • i think people only picked noomie because she is in the sweedish one, but rooney was definately the right person to play lisbeth. people would know this if they read the books.

  • Noomie Rapace without a doubt!

  • Rooney did look like a doll I haven't seen the swedish version It calls my attention the lisbeth of Noomy , but to me mara did pull out the look toghether when describes the characters in the books, I'm reading the second one and the only Lisbeth that comes to my mind is Mara's version because she looks a lot more fragile than Noomy

  • Noomi Rapace looks like the vocal from tokio hotel

  • Comment removed

  • Noomi Rapace!

  • @bethsiaz If you watch free movies online I ALREADY TOLD You that TGWTDT has been online since 2010 it's doesn't matter if the movie is in your goddam, country it's ONLINE!

  • Do we have to choose?

I think both actresses did an amazing job and each managed to portray the role in a unique and engaging way.

  • rooney was way better! although i do like Noomi, Rooney did it better

  • @spencer921000 That's just, like, your opinion, man ಠ_ಠ

  • never can match noomi. to all the us kiddings/hater: hahaha... lovely dumb comments. typical

  • i would do both of them.

  • Rooney Mara wins because she played the character with Asperger's Syndrome as described in the book. Her disability is what makes her vulnerable to these perverts and it's such an important piece they completely missed with Noomi. She's not just an abused angry woman. She has a disorder that people are taking advantage of. Very important distinction.

  • @dewman777 I know someone with Asperger's syndrome, I KNOW how they behave and it's fucking annoying as hell. Mara did NOT act like she had Asperger's Syndrome.

  • @dewman777 Besides People with Aspergers may seem vulnerable but they will fucking KILL you. I know a guy with it and he scares the shit out of me. No he doesn't act violent or weird but he in "wound " pretty tight psychologically. A student at Yale University was murdered 2 yrs ago by custodian with Aspergers b/c she made a mess in the Lab.

  • roon roon

  • I hate how the f*cking media try so hard to make fans of the character, movies and books hate each other. Who cares which one was better as Salander? They were both amazing, they,ve both shown different sides of Elisabeth and none of them ruined the character (which cannot be said about most hollywood movies based on books). The only option is to buy both version of the movie and fall in love with both Lisabeths ^_^

  • In addition, to what I just said, Stieg Larsson was both a journalist and an author, with a strong political commitment, especially regarding, the mapping of and fight against right-wing extremists. The more profound, complex and intricate vanishing points and layers of the story might be difficult to grasp and explore for a "Hollywood" actress. The US remake is probably a result of a wish for a blockbuster and a desire to bring the US audience the chance to see it, without a subtitle.

  • I haven't seen The Girl with the Dagon Tatoo, but from what I know about the Swedish version(s), that is to say, the original versions of the triology, it's going to be hard to beat the performance by Noomi Rapace. It is rare for an actress to so completely become one with character she portraits. To me, Noomi will always be (the ultimate) Lisbeth Salander. Rooney Mara may come out strong and do a wonderful job, time will tell, but why a new version, when there already is a "perfect" one?

  • the fact that Noomi Rapace looked like she'd beat the shit out of you from the very beginning makes Mara a better Lisbeth to me

  • Has people here actually seen both versions??

  • rooooooneeeyyyyy maraaaaaa!!!!

  • Noomi Rapace is the best

  • I liked both portrayals. I thought Rapace gave an interesting performance in "The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest" when she was answering questions on the stand. That sucked-in air (like she couldn't breathe) thing...interesting. Showed how much the questions were impacting her. But overall, I think I prefered Rooney Mara's performance if we are talking about the first film. Or rather, it felt more like Lisbeth, from the books, to me. I loved both though...

  • 你好吗?

  • the sweetish versions, if you didn't read the book you were confused for the whole trilogy

  • Rooney Mara the best! \m/

Noomi owna! Mas a Rooney me surpreendeu, ficou melhor do que eu esperava.

  • Rooney was much more like what character of Lisbeth was actually described as. A small girl who looked like a doll. She was 27 but looked like a teenager. Noomi is beautiful but she looked too old for the part. Rooney actually looked to be the five foot, ninety pound woman. People are putting too much emphasis on comparing her to Noomi. I compared her to the book and I say she's a better fit.

  • 100% NOOMIE REPACE :D

  • Rooney Mara is much better. Her version is exactly like the novel.

  • Noomi Rapace all the way bitches!!!

  • for those who read the books, noomi is closer to lisbeth. for those who can't read subtitlea or who never watch swedish films, mara will win. seeing as it's david fincher, a hollywood blockbuster, and most americans don't watch swedish films it's pretty clear that mara will win this popularity contest. as an aside, lisbeth would never ask 'can i kill him?' she just would fucking kill the serial killer.

  • @UpstairsMaid Did you read the novels? She DOES ask Mikael if she may kill Martin.

  • @UpstairsMaid - I've read all the books, and seen the Swedish films, and I'm not American :p And I prefered Mara's "Lisbeth" - it had the more childlike, waifish feel, but also the oddness of Lisbeth in the books, who may or may not have Asperger's. I loved Rapace as well, but I prefered Rooney Mara's version. That's not typical of me to prefer the Americanized version over a Scandinavian film, but I did here. :) So many people are knocking Fincher's version b/c it's from the US...

  • @UpstairsMaid read the novel man s: she actually DID asked him

  • @bethsiaz you obviously did not read the novels, your language skills are so bad that it is quite clear that the books were beyond you.

  • @UpstairsMaid My language skills are "so" bad, because english is not my first language, and what's wrong with you? what's with your aggressive reply? LOL

  • @UpstairsMaid so please, grammar police, pardon my oh so awful grammar mistakes.

  • Certainly Noomi Rapace is better. She doesn't only act, but also becomes one with the character of the novel. She's the flavor and the ultimate ingredient of Swedish movie.

  • Rooney Mara

  • Rooney 4 Evuh.

  • mohawks on a woman. HOT HOT HOT.

  • Noomi Rapace is so much better than the fade American "hollywoodized" version it's not even funny.

  • @Wildcopper its not supposed to be funny

  • R O O N E Y!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Noomi ftw, the seems way more badass.

  • Noomi Rapace!!!!!!

  • Thumbs up for Noomi Rapace!

  • It's ALWAYS Going to be Noomi for me, I dopn't even understand why U.S. audiences are so stupid that they can't read a subtitle. Thee was a English dubbed version so no need to remake the movie.

  • @rachelsOne well, im not american, but we dont get to enjoy the original movies everywhere you know s:

  • @bethsiaz "we dont get to enjoy the original movies everywhere you know s:"

NO I don't know whhat you mean and the original movie was available worldwide and not only English dubbed but even for free on the internet so I don't understand what you are trying to communicate.

  • @rachelsOne the original swedish film was not available in my country, I didn't even know about the existance of this amazing saga before Christmas, when I got the novels as a gift.

  • ROONEY ALL THA WAY!!!!!!!

  • Rooney FTW!!

  • They're both great!

  • rooney for the win..!

  • Comment removed

  • Noomi Rapace owns this character, she was amazing..I saw Roony Mara yesterday, she was excellent however I couldn't feel a thing for her portrayal.

  • noomi is nr 1

  • NOOMI!!!

  • Comment removed

  • Rooney was better, its no contest.

  • @TheeOneWhoTalks did you see the swedish? Rooney .... COME ON. THE GIRL with the dragon tattoo she was in the movie for like 20 MINS with like 10 LINES.

Honestly I dont think their going for the whole trilogy with Rooney and that should say it all. I love that chick but in this she looked repulsing and couldnt act at all, and couldnt pull off the character, unless well the character is ugly in a way so she got the image

  • @SirTimothyMarton You sir are an imbecile, and not because you didn't like Rooney's spectacular performance, but because you undermine her portrayal of Lisbeth just because she wasn't attractive enough for you.

  • @TheeOneWhoTalks that would be pretty sad, but Im not that shallow. I didnt like her preformance period and as I said ion a 2 and a half hour movie she was in it for 20 mins lets say. She had way smaller shoes to fill then Noomi in this case Im just being fair here. And basicly a critic her preformance is weak and not worth an oscar

  • @SirTimothyMarton 20 minutes? That's the biggest load of bullshit I've ever heard, she's in more than half the film, and the film is almost 3 hours. Now to respond to why her performance was better, that's much more subjective, but her being in the movie quite a bit is factual.

  • @TheeOneWhoTalks Look I saw the film and honestly bookwise and moviewise the rape scene is what I really decided on I hate that scene in both but its the best judged if I want to choose preformance now what Rooney did was awful compared to Noom and anyways, this is a remake. Why did it get remade? Cause America wants to cash in for a succesful SWEDISH trilogy suprisingly right after the swedish movie came out.

  • @SirTimothyMarton What didn't you like about Rooney's performance? I can't tell you why I think she's great if you say she was awful but give no reasons for why. On it being a remake it is not one, it's a new adaptation of the book, and it's actually much closer to the book than the Swedish version was. David Fincher doesn't make movies just to cash in, he makes movies with an artistic intention. A hollywood "Dragon Tattoo" was inevitable. The books have sold over 65 million fucking copies.

  • @TheeOneWhoTalks I just didnt find it belivable as much as Noomi's thats that. Im sorry its just my percpective and honestly when they said who might get the part I was rooting for other actresses maybe it was that. I am intrested how Rooney will do in the rest if they ever make the two sequels the one that will really prove who the real Lisbet is the third until that I won't judge her just say till now it seems Noom has the upper hand in my eyes. Will they go the whole nine yards wit Roon?

  • Noomi is simply superb.

  • Noomi did a movie character for films to last, Rooney did a good job to an easy to understand character to hit box office, same thing about the movie.

  • @ChungosInc She made the charecter more sympathetic therefore more relatable it has nothing to do with making the movie for the box office

  • @jumpmanajf As a hamburguer in MacDonalds.

  • @ChungosInc Yeah your wrong clearly not a film for mainstream audiences its basicaly an art film with a huge budget .. just because the swedish version was "edgier" which basicaly means it didn't have the budget or the visual pinache of the great David Fincher, dosen't make the american more mainstream. Thats man on a ledge or some generic thriller like that if u wana compare to mcdonalds burgers

  • Rooney was much more believable as being crazy. Noomi was just playing a goth chick,

  • Rooney has one thing that Noomi doesnt... an Academy Award nomination! hahahaha.

  • @benjamin72hollow that does not mean noomi did not deserve one too. she's just swedish, which makes it a lot harder for her to get nominated. americans like to honor americans, you know.

  • @FabianTheMoralist Marion Cotillard is a French actress that WON for best actress for a movie that was entirely in French. So if Noomi deserved a nomination she would have gotten one.

  • @benjamin72hollow i can name you so many other great european actors that really would have deserved an academy award or at least a nomination. on the other side i don't think that every actor who finally got an oscar really deserved it (Sandra Bullock? I mean i really like her and it was a pretty good performance, but have you seen Julie & Julia? I have...).

  • @benjamin72hollow just because she is American... Her performance it is not as outstanding as to get a nomination. I have seen much better performances that deserved one and didn't

  • @LeicesterGrey Catalina Sandino Moreno, Marion Cotillard, Keisha Castle Huges, Shoreh Angdashloo and even Nicole Kidman arent American but they all seemed to have delivered performances that got them nominations.

  • @benjamin72hollow I insist! you dont need a nomination nor an oscar to prove you are a good performer! acting is not only judged by the Academy. In my opinion, they only offer a very conditioned and subjective point of view.

  • @LeicesterGrey so true.

Noomi forever! :D

  • @benjamin72hollow Yeah right,,, she is from U.S. also... but of course than that doesn't influenced the fucking juries of the academy right,,,

  • @benjamin72hollow yes but the big directors like Ridley Scott or Brian de Palma asked Noomi for their new projects, not mara :-) thats the difference

  • @PeasMoreEater Believe me Rooney Mara will be in the mind of every great director or already is So does Noomi Rapace can both be great is her own way.

  • @PeasMoreEater BOOYA!

  • Noomie for ever !!!!

  • NOOMI IS JUST FRIGGIN' AWESOME

ROONEY HASN'T GOT THAT LISBETH ATTIUDE

  • Rooney.

  • Rooney Mara, no question about it.

  • Too violent!!!!!!

  • when the two fight, THE SCRIPT WINS!!!!

  • Noomi...and point....jejejeje she´s the better

  • Noomi! No contest!

  • Noomi.

  • Thumbs down!

    Rooney Mara FTW

  • Rooney... She was simply better. That's all there is to it.

  • Rooney

  • I think Rooney fits better for the part: she is about the same age as lisbeth in the books, whereas Noomi was significantly older. And Rooney plays lisbeth in a more emotional way, i could feel how disturb she really is( if you read the books or have seen the other two movies you know what i mean). I think Noomi is a very good actress, but as for this role she clearly looses to Rooney.

  • I loved both, they are both very talanted and fit the role perfectly. However, if i have to choose, i'll have to go with Rooney, since her transformation to adapt to the role was a bit more impressive. But, thats just my Opinion.

  • Rooney made the whole movie for me! Much more depth and acting, despite what everyone was telling me all the time: "European cinema is superior to Hollywood crap,blablabla... that's a lame american cover of the great swedish original, etc. etc."

Then I'm watching Noomi's Salander ,really trying to believe her,and I can't. Why is her acting being pointed out as better? She's walking around with that frozen frown on her (otherwise attractive) face and thats it!

  • @alcek01 - I know. It seems like so many people are knocking the US version and they haven't even necessarily seen it. Don't get me wrong, I usually *do* love films from Scandinavia and Europe better (I'm Canadian myself). But I can't just *assume* I will across the board! That's foolish! In this case, the US version felt more stylized, and I know it had a bigger budget which CAN help, but I honestly loved Rooney Mara's performance. I thought she was incredible and totally different.

  • Noomi makes me want to date a goth chick. Rooney makes me want to hide.

  • Noomis pretty hot while rooney is one of the uglist women ive ever seen...case closed

  • Noomi was good but Rooney was fantastic and her look suited the character much better.

  • Rooney all the way! The American version is the best

  • rooney.

  • Noomi easily

  • Noomi is hotter. Rooney is better actress though.

  • Rooney Mara. But they're both great

  • Noomi is 99% the Lisbeth of the novel, but I swear that I felt in love with Noome in the swedish version. Y preffer the american movie (it's stunning, amazing) but I love both Lisbeths. The swedish movie got success for Noomi, she was the heart and soul of the swedish adaptation. Love her!

  • Rooney seemed not so smart first time I saw her in the movie, that's why she's better, i dunno. maybe because the piercings, tatoos, height, idunno. And she acted really good.

  • Noomi was hands down (or thumbs up) the better Lisbeth Salander.

  • Comment removed

  • if only Noomi was in the American Version all would be well.

  • I love both of them.

  • Noomi all the way, Rooney did a great job though

  • Noomi Rapace is much better. Noomi made the best acting I have ever seen. It is something amazing.

  • It's not an American remake of the Swedish movie, it's a separate adaptation of the same book. Some parts of the Fincher version are actually more faithful to the book than in the Swedish one (while others are less so).

  • "Vote thumbs down for the link on the right if you want to vote for the one on the right". Who created this assbackward fuckshit?

    Voted Roons<3

  • NOOMI!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • they were both amazing but rooney seemed to play her just abit better

  • Rooney said in an interview that she did not think Lisbeth was a feminist, has she even read the books?

  • the swedish version was more dark than the american one much much better .. and I hate it when they do a remake .. rooney was ok ... but she has a baby face .. and I didn't like her hair .. plus .. she had blond eye brows .. really ??

  • the 2 girls were great... but I thik Rooney did a best job she is more Lisbeth than Noomi

  • BTW It's kinda amazing how similar the two look. I mean at first glance, you would think they are the same movie!!!

  • Both are great in my opinion! But the American version is engaging! And this is coming from a guy who has seen and owns the Swedish version and can't wait until the American comes out on DVD. Currently reading the novel!

  • ROONEY Mara ALL THE WAY!!!!!!!!! Are you CRAZY????

  • NOOMI RAPACE ALL THE WAY

  • @ecksor88 Don't you hate copying too? When Sweden makes an awesome movie, and then, two years later USA wakes up and makes a copy of it. Rooney doesn't even look like Lisbeth

  • rooney

  • I watched the Swedish version first...never actually watched the English version though so can't vote, but I have a feeling I'd be partial to Noomi even after watching the American version. Noomi made all three films of the Swedish trilogy imo, and I hope that Rooney Mara can do that as well.

  • American version all the way, fuck that europe bullshit.

    David Funcher FTW!

  • Noomi será siempre Lisbeth, pero aún no he visto a Rooney y estoy segura que también dejará su huella interpretando el personaje.

  • i honestly thought the american version was WAY better. but then again whatever you saw first you like better

  • Swedish

  • Rooney Mara was the perfect Lisbeth. Noomi, while a good actor, didn't really capture the essence of what I pictured Lisbeth to be.

  • The American one was good but i really liked the Swedish one better

  • vou esperar para ver a versao em ingles ;D, mas vou aproveitar apra assistir a primeira versao que nao vi ainda

  • Rooney 100%

and fyi, i didn't fall in love with noomi when i saw the swedish version.

Rooney on the other hand. <3

  • @528491Inception Rooney looked like a ripulsing cokehead, plus she was in the 2 and a half hour movie for what 15 20 mins??? with like 10 lines if that and you hardlyt understood what she said.

Noomi all the way its wierd if it was any other chick I wouldve went against Noomi but the disaster the Rooney became as much as I like her no way.

  • Funny how both play the same character yet they both come across as fully realized different people. Rooney Mara's vulnerability is especially poignant, yet Noomi handled Lisbeth's aggression in a particularly striking way. Close call.

  • Both weren't bad but the Swedish girl was cuter.

  • Rooney Mara!!

  • NOOMI RAPACE, the original, the one!

  • Noomi ftw

  • None.
