No. Crysis Warhead supports both Direct X 9 and 10. The only difference is they optimized CryEngine2 so it will run smoother. And Crysis is part of a trilogy, but Warhead is not part of that trilogy, it is a parallel timeline. Also, lighting and particle effects are better. I have it, and Crysis Wars is awesome too.

In Crysis Warhead they have just lowered the resolution in crysis warhead so it will be more suitable for low budget computers, but the graphic is actually better if you put it at High/V.High. And they have added DX9 AND DX10 in warhead.

It's just what i've heard.

Overall i have this game myself and it kicks ass(Crysis) just bought myself a 19'' Widescreen.

Hardly lowered graphics. Running this game on Good Visuals (just bellow Exquisite) looked like Max settings back on Crysis which had issues for most systems at that level. So it's like running Warhead on medium was equal to Crysis on High pretty much.

Better lighting and particle effects. More intense time line. Better 3rd person cut scenes. Optimized CryEngine2, runs better. New weapons and vehicles, and Crysis Wars online component which was new modes and 21 new maps. There are many advancements. I own the game.

Crysis is just nice graphics, got bored after 1 week. Battlefield 2 is a much better wargame IMHO.

I can play The first on High with a 9600 and my computers only worth like 600, all i did was gave it 2 gigs and up the vid card to a 9600gt

it is an expansion, but there are major gameplay changes and engine changes too, that make the game a lot more action-heavy, and the game run a hell of a lot better on your system
