  • what is shelf life in a cool dark bacement...also can this just be done in water bath ?? not under pressure..

  • @Urgearhead Shelf life top quality 3 years after that still good just loose some nutritional value! No canning beef must be done in a pressure canner!

  • @larrylhall Thank you... i looked locally on craigs last night for pressure canner...but didn't find one, So the hunt is on''

  • @Urgearhead Put an ad on craigslist that you want to buy a pressure canner bet you get a call!!!!!!

  • hey love the vids! i was just wondering if theres any way you can tell if youve canned the food right and got a good seal so no one gets food poisoning, im thinking about canning some deer meat soon so any info would be greatly appreciated. and keep the vids comming :)

  • @deerslayer048 I'll send you a link to my brothers viideo on canning venison! Thanks Larry

  • @deerslayer048 My brother Steve Hall (Shotgun Red) shows you how to can venison!

In my video's you have a lock on your you tube channel so i can't send you a link!!!

  • What is the approximate shelf life of canned beef? does storage temperature play a major role?

  • @AtariFTW 70 degrees and lower and out of sunlight is best for storing any canned goods! Beef will keep almost indefinitely however some nutrient value is lost after 3 years but still is good to eat!

  • Your making me hungry, Think I'll open a jar of home canned beef.

  • @Garrisonpea Oh Yes!!!!!

  • Yes you can use les salt! you can also dehydrate veggies or can them get yourself a ball blue book it is the bible for canning freezing! yes canning dog food would be a great idea! you could use really cheap cuts of pork beef and chicken

  • @larrylhall should you de-bone meat before canning? like, chicken?

  • @brrag you do not have to de bone chicken or beef!

  • @ppppccs Hey ppppccs, the corn was taken off the cob. Simply take a knife and slide it down the cob removing 3/4 of the kernels. Its best to rotate your food, so it doesn't sit for too long, but things should be ok once its canned for a year or more. If you cook things wrong or don't get a proper seal, then you can get food poisoning. It may look fine, but botulism is a deadly killer. Lastly, I would freeze seeds. The heat in canning will kill them, but freezing is ok.

  • Hi again Larry. Tried canning deer meat yet?

    Thanks,

    Jeff

  • @vudumojo Yes deer meat canned is awesome!!!

  • @larrylhall Cool!

Canned another 5 jars of salsa last night, thanks to your tip.

That stuff is great. I added some fresh some from the garden to it though and fresh cilantro, I end up with about a half jar extra. Plus I like to add some more fresh cilantro and fresh garlic to it when I serve it, because it looses it's health benefits after it gets cooked.

    Awesome stuff...

    Thanks again :)

  • @vudumojo Sounds great!!!

  • thanks!!! Yes there is a ton of ways to make things!!! Next up taco meat seasoned and canned!!! Instant taco's Also going to can whole chicken breasts and pork this weekend!!! the options are endless!!! Also chili love my own chili canned! Like you said no defrosting ready to heat and eat!!!!

  • Nice vid Larry. The wife and I got a pressure canner about a month ago. Canned up 3 dozen ears of sweet corn, and 15 lbs of peaches. The wife's in school and she's the cook, so I figure its less hassle for her to have meat that's already cooked up, ready to go. I hate when I try to figure out what to make for supper and everything is frozen. This seems to be a good way to go.

  • Good Video!

  • @JoeShmoe65x2 Thank you! Glad you liked it!!!

  • Larry yes better to c because it last for years better than freezing. I did meat, fish and chicken. What I want to say is why don't they hire you to do a commercial because you sound more convincing than the actors they use. You believe in what you are doing. Good Job!!!

  • @37crackerjack well thank you!

  • I did a quick google search and found many places to get parts for your canner!!!

    good luck canning!!!

  • I've got an old 'National' canner I got for $10 but needs gasket and haven't looked into getting one yet. You know where to get those locally?

Anyway, I've just been canning tomatoes and pickles in a huge soup pot with gravel on the bottom, LOL, but of course MEAT you MUST use a pressure canner.

Plenty of deer around me. Planning on hunting this year and your canning idea is the way to go for sure. Definitely will start collecting more canning jars for that!

    Thanks again bro
