Which is doing something heroic like saving a kid or a bunch or people(saving an old guy would seem dull). Then saying something really cool before you kick it like "Your so dam lucky I was around, "Could have went better haha", or "All I wonted was a Pepsi"(institutionalized song joke).

There are several explanations in the wikitionary, pretty interesting. * A person standing on a pail or bucket with their head in a slip noose would kick the bucket so as to commit suicide. The OED, however, says this is mainly speculative;

because people used to stand on a bucket with a noose (rope) around their neck and then kick the bucket from under them... and yea you can guess.

At least that's what i heard.
