It's amazing to see how talented this guy is but, more than anything, this is about the time he found out he had AIDS (in 1987(. How ironic that as the next few years would go back and he was the 'great pretender' about 'being ok'. Guys last few years told his life and looking back you can see from 87 to 91 just telling, subtly, that he was in trouble and not going to be around much longer. Can't believe it's almost been 20 years since the storyteller, artist, and best singer ever died.

I believe he had AIDS in the Spring of 1987. He, obviously, would have had the HIV virus prior but it can lay dormant for years. He lived remarkably long for having AIDS in that time (basically 4 years is incredible). Most that hit full Blown AIDS were getting a year to a year in a half. You can tell he is on tons of steroids to slow the progression at this point. Watch Queen's video "HeadLong" and you can see the last 'Freddie' performance with all the dynamics.

LOL.. EVERYONE lip synched at 'live studio performances' in the 80's, even Freddie Mercury. So did G n R, Poison, Culture Club, etc. Freddie and Queen were no exception. Milli Vanilli put an end to that in the late 80's.

I will say this though. Freddie Mercury DID NOT lip synch at Live Aid in 85 (btw Rollingstone only called it the best live performance ever). Freddie Mercury DID NOT use 'backup singers' for his album. He is the best ever.
