its the same design caterpillar used to convert rubber tired skidsteers to track skidsteer. it just bolts to the hub and you have a torsion bar to tighten your track. tracks are great but concrete eats them alive an the boggies are a joke too, after market steel undercarriage is the way to go.
Let me ask: What if you had to pull a vehicle out of a ditch or a snowbank with a Mattrax equipped truck? Are the tracks strong enough to take the torque of a full-throttle pull without tearing off? Just wondering. I love the idea of these things - very clever.
@MadMaxx61 Actually there is no pricing information or links to other dealers at their site. So, how much do they go for? Can you give a rough ballpark range?
40 mph bad speed , but the solution is put the tires in the bed in off road and use it in long travel on road , in this case you have put the mattracks in the bed , and its so heavy !
you can stud the tracks themselves if you plan on battling ice.
but im sure with a 4 tracked system like this ice wouldn't be much of a problem in the first place. almost 10 fold the surface area over a set of tires.
those things are work great while they work. I went hunting out in norther maine and my buddy had them on his truck after awhile the track kept twisting slightly until it snapped.
hahaha thats more then yours or most other turcks are worth lol for that kinda money get a 12 inch lift and 40 inch boggers save money and still be as mobile lmao
What a load of horse shit! Anyone with a double digit iq must believe that shit. They must do most of their advertising in american. Next time they make you believe you can't walk in that snow try not digging the hole so obvious and deep.
your a tool. with mattracks you can virtually go anywhere because you have so much ground coverage on each track you are virtually a bulldozer with not even a tenth of the weight
like the idea, this kid down the road from me has'm on his 4x4 quad. my question is-are they hard on the drivetrain and susp/axle components etc? it looks like they would be but i dunno. mabey not a good idea to run them on a half-ton. especially gm 10bolt axles
yeah something about 1.5 psi but that doesn't make sense... but if you put tracks on your vehicle that takes all the fun out of wheeling!!! Unless you need them on a farm or out in the bush for maple syrup. Useless hahah takes all the fun out of digging yourself out when you get stuck.
What they are saying is that you would need to lower the pressure in a standard tire to 1.5psi to get the same light footprint as this tracks system. In other words, the lower your air pressure, the less you dig into the ground and stay on top of the surface. But you aren't going to run a standard tire at 1.5 psi without some kind of bead lock system.
That is not at all what they meant. This means that with this system with every square inch of surface touching the ground there is 1.5 pounds within that area. There is no way to get standard tires down to having a 1.5 psi footprint. The surface area of one track on these tracks touching the ground at one time is almost 25 times as much as you have with a regular tire because there is over 900 square inches touching at one time per tire.
What they don't say is, in only very unique conditions do you need low ground pressure. Tires out-perform tracks in nearly every other condition. Even the toy versions end up back in the box in favor of wheels and tires.
WOW!!! those would be nice to have but...Nah to pricy for me I gotta a lifted jeep XJ, its such a small vehicle u can just put it in your pocket and walk to work.
