  • So thats what his dad looks like...

  • I love this show. Sometimes it could seem cheesy (like Meistro and the real doctor being identical - who trusts a doctor with antenna?), but it was so interesting and had a lovely music score.

  • @MrJoeyWheeler I think the antennae are two hairs which he makes look like antennae for whatever reason.

  • i love this

  • Nostalgia.

  • I also used to watch this in the morning before big breakfast and I don't know why, but this show also reminds me of Christmas?

  • This cartoon is a massive part of why I'm a Biology graduate

  • I remember this cartoon.

I think I might still have VHS of it gathering dust in the back of a cupboard somewhere.

I remember watching it for a biology class when I was younger. My classmates kept giggling during that opening sequence.

    That always annoyed me.

  • What the fuck did I just WATCH...? * twitch*

  • lÓl_Ì_fèêl_sØ_loñÉlý_tÔdÄý

  • And this isn't on TV now because?.......Seriously, maybe if kids these days watched stuff like this, they wouldn't be so damn stupid.

  • @xsara123 If I ever own a TV channel, this'll be on it. As well as the rest of the "Il Etait Une Fois..." series. I really love this.

  • @kiren Thanks for your reply. Is there any opening/intro of the program in Greek ?

  • Hello, Any Greek version of Once upon a time... life ? Thanks in advance for your help

  • @giulia271 on wikipedia they say Greece broadcasts it on Hellenic Broadcasting Corporation (EPT): ET1, ET2, ET3, NET, Cine+, Prisma+

  • its because of watching that cartoon as a kid that i still picture my red and white bloodcells with faces to this day

  • I remember watching this in the mornings too! Sadly Channel 4 never showed the first half of the intro (perhaps due to the nudity?), always coming in at the first shot of the red blood cells.

This series taught me most of what I know about the human body :)

  • @Tomsonic41 Not always, we did see the nude bit on a few occasions - me and my brother used to think it was hilarious, imagining that the robotnik running the VT at Channel 4 had not realised. Then we laughed harder at what the Daily Mail would probably have said! Channel 4 used to cut a lot of long intros to TV programmes, they did it with The Henderson Kids and Betty's Bunch as well.

  • wow I absolutely loved this show

  • i loved this cartoon sooooo much! i think i remember it used to come on saturdays in england (well in manchester anyway!) i was 9 in 1986 and today when i get a cut or am ill i still visualise those cartoon things rushing to heel my body. and i love the song xxx

  • Hello , Somebody can write the lyrics? I am not perfect english. Thank you :)

  • I think I watched it when I was in grade 6..now I'm 21..Woahhh! : ] really wanna watch Once Upon A Time Life the whole episodes once again ; ]

  • @whaleofpacific The YouTuber isgota uploaded all of them in English. Check out his channel.

  • 'Il Était un fois...La Vie' WAS THE SHIT back then! :D It's STILL the most awesome anime/ cartoon series EVER produced IMHO. I picked up the DVD boxset a couple of months ago and my friends and I (ALL of us are 25+) can't get enough of it. It's official: our children will grow up watching this stuff, because the epicness of this series far extends normal geekdom. Oh, and a nifty detail: the series was co-developed by French scientists. :)

  • That Indian girl in the "space ship" is HAWT!

  • @Exkild Three things. One, she's named Claire. Two, the "spaceship" is actually a plasma cell. Three, yes, she is.

  • Anyone know who sings this song?

  • @NotAnotherYaoiFan If my French is up to snuff, Sandra Kim.

  • I am trying to find the episode about dreams... that really helped me understand them when I was younger

  • @louiswilkinson10

As far as I know there is no episode about dreams.

  • @insaneAnimeLover Dreams were explained in the episode about brain.

  • Look at the rack on that white blood cell!

  • That's what we look like inside? It's disgusting!

  • Wow....

I wasnt even born when this was made o..o

  • my too

  • Brilliant song, this takes me back to when I was really young. I only managed to get one episode as they stopped sending them out with the magazines. I couldn't find it for ages until I realized what the real name of the show was. I'd like to see an 80's cartoon channel available for people to watch, it probably exists but I'm aware of one.

  • Hahah this is amazing :P

  • gave me hypochondria too. I can still visualise the one which showed how easy it is to pick up flu from drinking out of other peoples cups etc

  • i love so much the serial of spain and him intro.. this intro are disguste me

  • AMAZING! I used to watch this all the time. It was great. Educational and cool at the same time. It shows how the body works and heal itself when we get cut or whatever! Goes to show how crap the kids cartoons of today are hey!!!! - Thanks for posting the memory!

  • OMG!!

I wouldn't go anyway until the episode end :)

    Love it!!

P.S. I watch it in dub Thai language

  • I knew it! There ARE cartoon characters inside of us!

  • @SpookerstheSpoo And a totally white beard old man controls everyone. Yay!

  • @SpookerstheSpoo hhhhhhhhhhhhaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Celebrating the joy! That's life!

  • I'm pretty sure this cartoon is the cause of my hypochondria

  • Watched this as well.

Very educating and fun at the same time.

    5 Stars!

  • That bring back memories, remembered sitting around for every episode of it.

  • I love this!

  • what's so disturbing?! I mean this is how it works.

  • I don't understand what SikGamer70 mean by that. Well everybody have their opinions...

  • Pietistic tosser.

  • OMG the memories. This fabulous cartoon was on Irish TV on Thursdays in the late 80s.

  • Maan, the english version sure sucks.

  • It's an european tv show, especially it is a french-spanish show made by the television channels of these two countries (France and Spain).

  • where to buy the english version in USA ?

  • yeah, i watched this during my childhood too, in the 80s. i'm from malaysia...

  • "Once upon a time..." is one of the best cartoon series there has been and ever will be.

  • I didn't know this cartoon was known worldwide! That's fantastic. I miss my childhood...when there were such cartoons...

  • it is very famous,i watched the arabic version when i was little

  • @kamayie86:

An Arabic version? Surely they must have censored out the nudity!?

  • Me neither, I thought it was only in french :)

  • where can I get these DVD's? If anyone knows please let me know!

    Thanks!

  • Man, I loved this -- Haemo and Globin the blood cells travelling around the body. And a great theme tune! And I definitely remember it being Sunday morning -- just before Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors :)

  • old school stuff, good memories

  • Loved this as a kid. Learning made fun and entertaining. They just don't make series' like this anymore which is a shame. Cheers for bringing back memories with this upload.

  • Listen to the Spanish version and tell me if you don't prefer it: "érase una vez la vida".

And even listen another one ;o): "érase una vez el hombre" (once upon a time man/il était une fois l'homme).

  • Wow, its been soooo many years since ive seen this.

  • Me too! was this on channel 4 on sunday mornings?

  • Saturday I think. I loved it

  • I was really addicted to the tv show when I was a kid!!!

  • ohhhhh!!!! i miss it!!!!

I love this when i was kid

  • Je prefere la version française / I prefer the french version

  • What the heck? What is this from?

  • I remember watching this in Swedish. ^_^

    God, the nostalgia.

  • very imaginative and useful for interesting kids in science. don't know how popular it'd be today, but liked it when I was a child.

  • You see how open the French/Europeans are when it comes to sex and nudity on TV. If this was in aird in America there would have been an uproar lol.

  • LOVED IT

  • Slovak version of this song is better, but this isn't on YouTube...

  • check out the german version "es war einmal das leben". it's a bit different from the english and french one but sounds better somehow

  • God how nostalgic isin't this? Love it!

  • I like them both. But then I understand both, so maybe that's why. The Portuguese version I couldn't possibly comment on ;)

  • does anyone know who sings this? and the title?

  • Unfortunately, Sandra Kim sings the French Original Version of the song. The English dubbed version is anonym it seems. The French version is far way better on words and chorus hélas!

  • If only kids programmes were as informative today, sigh. Bless little Sandra Kim!
