Oh My goodness! their facial expressions are flawless! I always thought people in that time period to act completely different from today..... I used to think they just stood there and were all proper and stuff, but now I can connect with the story because they made their body language so modern! LOVE IT!
I just hate useless men that cannot even manage to arrive by their own to a place... mr knightley, mr dracy are the perfect gentlema, simple, kind, inteligent, independent, charming
John had it right; I would have cringed with how close he gets to her when he first gets in the carriage (before the party).Even John's brother sees it too!! God how anoying Mr. Elton is....
Oh Emma... So full of herself and so naive at the same time! She's the ONLY one in whole England who hasn't noticed Mr. Elton's intentions towards her... lol
Oh I can think of so many nasty things to do there, in that house, in those clothes, among those people! That's the reason why we are so helplessly addicted to period dramas - the conventions, the restrictions, the rules and norms! Courtship is so, so more romantic than modern dating, you know, boy meets girl, they laugh, they eat - bam, they're in bed together!
its so sweet those little loving things mr knightly does, and emma so ignorant toward them :( but then it just makes it all the more romantic that she is still unaware of her love and he is so aware of his
Gahhhhh emma is sooo annoying and ignorant!!!! gahhhh or is it just me??!! so full of herselffff >:-((( if this goes on itll be hard for me to watch....
I love how, despite being quite forward, Emma retains an arresting charm and talent for diverting the attention of others. At least MOST of the time. If something upsetting or annoying has been said she uses a delicate art of deflection that I find simply enchanting.
Notice her brother-in-law told Emma quite plainly Mr Elton has designs on her, but Emma is blind and refuses to consider what onlookers can plainly see
This is the 3rd time I'm watching this...John is so funny! Love it this version of Emma, although Jeremy Northam was also excellent as Mr. Knightly in 1996.
It is so weird to see Blake Ritson in this. Edmund is my favorite Austen man, and seeing him as Mr. Elton is so wrong. Though he does a good job of convincing me that he is a creeper.

I don't see how Emma can't know Mr. Elton loves her instead of Harriot. I love how everybody knows he likes her except the one he likes.

@TheStarfieldFan I think it's because she's so blind and focused on matching Mr. Elton and Harriot up that she cant see it for herself

The best Mr Elton was Alan Cumming, from the Gwyneth Paltrow version, in my opinion... he was annoying, but sooo funny. A real master of comedy.
