There were a few months that, whenever I would visit my cousin and she'd be at work, I would watch this movie, and every time she came home, it would always be when this scene was on. She finally banned me from watching this at her place because she got tired of walking into the house hearing "GEOOOORRRRRGE"
I love this! I wish someone recorded the "Uncle Thomas" dance that the cast of my high school's "King and I" production on youtube. It's very similar to this.
We watched the King and I for choir. This was the only part I watched because the rest was crap.
I liked the ending of the movie though, but they were way to dramatic about the kings death. I was yelling, "DIE ALREADY!!!". But then again, I have no heart. :)
my class just got done watching this movie!! it was so good! except for we all got mad when school teacher always had another poofy dress!! LOL watch this movie!!!!!!!!!!!
my school is doing this play right now and Ive seen other schools do it and they try to make it look exactly like this. Is that a good thing? Cause I dont think so I think that everyone should have a variation in their dances and not try to copy the dance. sorry needed to vent about that cause I have a small school and stage... yeah but it looks awesome because its not an exact copy of the movie
weve just finshed doing the king and i! i was king simon of legree! was brilliant! we tried to capture the essence of this but not do what everone expects! brilliant musical! was alot of fun :D xx
If there will be a remake of this musical, it would be very hard for them to top this. exquisitely made, superb music, enchanting costumes and intricate choreography. a movie destined to live forever.
Wonderful choreography, fabulous music, fantastic costumes from a remarkable movie!
This is a glorious piece of coreography of one of the incredibly talented Jerom Robbins, who depicted the escence of the American book Tom's Cabin, in a fantastic Siam, now, Thai style à-la- Holliwood.
Majestic!
This master piece belongs to the quintaesentially classic movie: The King and I.

You are right it`s not the same as the book, but that was intentional, the woman who is telling the story changed it to make it more similar to her own situation since she was a slave herself just a Eliza
@Matt5of12 I agree with @umicalista. Eliza changed the story to fit her life better. It doesn't show it in this video, bit she goes on to (attempt to) beg the king to let her go. YOu have to see the entire movie to really get this part

She was a slave in the film. Have you never seen it? She is basically telling the King through the play that he is treating people badly and that slavery is not acceptable. She draws parallels between the book "Uncle Toms Cabin" and her own life. The book was given to her by Anna.

Even though their version of "uncle Tom's cabin" is not the same as the book. They got the basic idea.
