I'm going to use this method now, to photograph my D.H.2 which I finished an hour ago :) :) I think I'll credit you at the end for making this brilliant video :)
@llanelliscarlets1 That totally dpends on the tank and what camo it has.. You need a desert picture for a desert tank, et.c.. :) But overall I'd try and get a picture of either fields or a forest.. But I can't really tell without knowing what type of tank you want to photograph.. :)
@psychedelic14 Sorry for a let reply.. I missed your comment! I guess you can use some thin cardboard or board.. you can also buy already printed runways, but they tend to be quite small, i.e A4 size for 1/72 scale models, and so doesn't work well with this type of photography..
Aha, look at that! Great idea. I would have likely used Photoshop to do that, but that's cheating. Absolutely, keep camera at ground level. Also, if you can adjust f-stop on your camera, turn it all the way up (may have to adjust shutter at that point too.) What the f-stop trick will do is make wingtip in the foreground in focus with farthest away plane part. Everything in focus that way and makes it look more real. You're making me want to make one of these tutorials. Great video.
Hey, this is a really good tutorial for photographing. My printer doesn't seem to want to work with my new computer, and it's driving me crazy! Now I will have to figure it out though.
Will check your video.. I did do a stop-mo using some tanks I made, and posted it on my old (deleted) channel.. Haven't got the original video left now!! Probably just as well, as it wasn't very good.. I've also made some 'flying Banana' stop-mo's on my other channel (CurtisWildebeest), but that is a channel MUCH different to my modelling channel, and I tend to keep the two channels well apart... :)
Put them on a shelf? Or buy a big picture frame and superglue them to it? I have seen some modfellers building half models, and making each half different.. then they glue the halve facing each other in a frame.. That way you can display two versions of the same type plane only spending the money of one kit.. :)
Thanks.. and yes, I probably could.. IF I only had any of those programmes! Well, paint I have, of'course.. :) But for now I stick with this method, or similar.. :) It's the most hassle-free!! :)
The Gimp is the public licence free equivalent to Adobe Photoshop. It's totally free to download ans upgrade. Good job though. I have never meddled with grass etc...
I read up on Swedish volunteers in the Finnish air force, it seems they scored well considering the planes they flew (1 guy got 3 victories) :) I hope to make a 'Glad' at some point.
The best Glad is the Heller kit, followed by the old Matchbox kit.. Airfix will re- issue their Glad in April but we now have May and it hasn't happened yet.. :) It's not a very good kit, but I will get one and work on the cowl.. :)
Haw haw haw, and what not, old chap! The cowl is horrendous though, but somebody in the Ipswich club solved it with super glue gel.. It looks quite good! I'm looking for some teardrop shaped beads in the right size to try and use, but so far my search has resulted in zilch, zero, nada.. :P You also need to decapitate the pilot, cut open the cock-pit well and scratch build the interior.. :) :)
I nearly picked up another Airfix Glad today.. but ened up with a Revell Hunter instead.. a conversion project in due course, as I want to do a Swedish J34.. :)
No, it's very simple and 'basic'.. Part of the line is probably caused by shadow as well, and the difference in colour of the artificial 'grass' and the background print.. It's not as noticable in some photos, like the intro, for instance.. :)

wow great idea. Or you can meddle with Paint or more advanced editors (Gimp etc) to blend a models photo and a background.

the Glad depicted here is actually an 'ex' Finnish volunteer Glad, returned to Swedish service.. or so it said in the decal info.. :)

With a bit of work the Airfix Glad is as good as any other.. and definetely easier to get your hands on.. :)

For a more natural look:
Do not fold the paper but only curve it. You will not get that sharp shadow line in the background
PuppyZwolle 4 years ago
Good idea.. :)
KurtGnu 4 years ago
Hey, I picked that up watching pro's take pictures.
Still a very natural looking picture with so little 'fuss'. I always assumed it took a lot more to get a good look.
