@hawaiidispenser Oops sorry i didn't see this comment. Thanks my friend! Lol now i'm back to the goatee again haha....i keep it for a while get sick of it and shave it off haha
@HHH396 No problem bro! Yeah, you gotta experiment with the facial hair, try it for a while, then go back etc. I've kept my little chin goatee because it helps hide the double chin. LOL How would you look with a full beard? You should try it. Have that viking look.
damn impressive man!!! getting stronger!! did you ever get 440 up with the regular grip yet? and does reverse grip help increase your bench?? keep up the good work man!!
@1992ldavis Thank you! I haven't quite got 440 yet but who knows i might get it with the reverse grip lol.I think there might be some carry over to the regular bench because it works the triceps a lot.But i mostly do it so i can switch exercises once in a while to keep things fresh. It also doesn't hurt that i like this way of benching too!
Awesome Mark!!! Maybe you should be benching this way all the time. I don't think it's an illegal grip in a competition even so if you wanna compete you should be fine.
Good lifting! I am inspired now to start doing reverse grip again! BTW, today in the gym I was talking to an acquaintance there who was telling me his shoulders and elbows tighten up and bother him when he was doing bench. I taught him how to do reverse grip and said, "Try doing it this way. You might like it better." He tried them out and said, "These are awesome! They feel really good! Thanks man!" It made me feel happy to teach him something that allowed him to bench pain-free.
@oratorman Thanks a lot bro! Yeah i really like this style of benching. Not all the time but here there it's a nice alternative. It does seem easier on the shoulders.
@HHH396 You're welcome! I was also wondering...why did you shave off your goatee? I liked the goatee, you're one of the few guys that can really pull that look off. You looked more strong and macho with it, without the goatee, I don't know why, but somehow it makes you look older and more tired. No offense intended, I don't understand it myself but that's the way I see it. I used to have a goatee when I was 18 because it helped me buy booze without getting ID'ed, so for me it made me look older.
Awesome Mark...that makes me wonder if you can hit more with a wider normal grip, as you seem stronger that way. I bet if you benched with a regular, wide grip and concentrated on tucking your elbows you would hit 440 lbs within a few weeks. If you slowly build up to it, I think your shoulder would be fine as well. Just my two bits...
@BRETZERR Thanks Randy! Yeah it's funny every time i go wide on regular grip it hurts my shoulders but with reverse grip i can go wide as hell and it feels fine.My left shoulder has been fucked up the last few weeks but it felt fine doing the reverse grip.I might go with these for the next few weeks and see what happens. If i can get 425-430 i should be able to hit at least 440 with the regular grip.....we'll see how it goes i guess.
Wow awesome workout Mark! I liked this video once I saw how easily 405 went up! If you were a lil quicker off the chest 420 wouldve been easily gotten. You shouldve had it right then and there anyway. I bet your screwed up shoulders have a lot to do with it. I think your bench would be like 20 pounds higher if you didnt have problems with your shoulders
@PowerlifterTy16 Thanks a lot Tyler! The 405 took enough out of me where i couldn't quite get 420.If i had gone to 420 1st i would've definitely got it.Who knows i might get 440 with the reverse grip before my regular grip lol.Yeah the left shoulder has been bothering me that's why hadn't posted any benching lately. It felt good today on reverse grips though so that's promising!
@rctriplefresh5 Thanks Dave! No i didn't miss the groove on 405.It's just that off the chest is the hard part of the lift, after that the bar tends to build speed toward the top.Funny thing is i kinda missed the groove on 420....i should've had that! I happy though because this is the first time i've done these in months.Lol i might get 440 on reverse before i get it on regular grip!
Holy shit! your back! crazy power Mark! your the king of the reverse grip! good to see you back in the 400's! respect!

Nice but that involves more tricep than the regular right?
avatarcollides2day 10 months ago
@avatarcollides2day Thanks! Yes it does.People who are not quite strong in their triceps will find reverse grips very difficult.
HHH396 10 months ago
wow that 420 was really really close...you'll get it next time mark!
