hi guys, I have this model from Alpine. Can I play music via Bluetooth from my phone(Nokia E72) I managed to connect it to my alpine and use it as hands-free, it's cool, but can I play music on my phone and listen to it via my alpine? Please help

@vegasshowbiz Playing music over bluetooth is not your best option. The quality is bad and you will not be happy, unless you have a stock audio system, in that case you wont notice it much...

@davidhes Hi, I have just got the Alpine CDE-103EBTdeck and I have an iphone 4. I am thinking of getting a HoldMyPhone holder, how does the through connect holder actually connect to the Alpine deck, as the Alpine deck seems to have a wierd connector that is used to connect to the iphone/ipod ? Do you have to get a special cable that connects the holder to the Alpine Deck ?

And to finally answer a future question. Yes this is completely compatible with iphone 4. I have recently purchased one and it works exactly the same, luckily seeing as the dock is adjustable it also fits the iphone 4 as well.

- Calls are indeed handled via bluetooth. Bluetooth is built into the head unit, you simply search for it on your iphone, comes up as alpinecde103, you connect to it and then all your contacts sync with the head unit. You are also able to use the iphones built in voice dial feature by holding down the call button on the head unit, which activates the voice dial program on the iphone and then speak the name you want to call. It will detect it through the wired microphone.

- The head unit also charges the ipod/iphone as mentioned in the video

- You can navigate the iphone and select music via the iphone when connected to the head unit if you jailbreak it. Since making the video I have done so, if you then install a cydia app called noaccessorysplash when you plug it into the head unit the accessory connected screen will not be displayed and you are free to use the iphone whilst playing all music through the head unit.

Just to answer a few questions people have posted here.

- You are not able to plug your ipod through the usb port in the front, you must use the alpine cable that connects to the back of the head unit.

- Can't recommend an amplifier or sub woofer as I don't have either

- The microphone is located just to the right of the drivers sun visor, the microphone is wired up behind the right window strut and just pokes out the top, very well hidden. It is connected to the back of the head unit.

Hi, I'm thinking to get one of these units installed this week. They told me that they can install the iphone cable through an extra hold in the dash to the cradle which will hold my iphone. I wanted to ask you, does this unit also keep the iphone charged when connected? That would be a decisive factor in choosing this model.

You need the kce433 ipod cable. This plugs into the rear of the stereo. I ve only ever tried using a memory stick on the front usb and it works ok but not gapless music like on the ipod

How is it playing through the radio? I see no wires. I'm just confused on how it works. I have about the same head unit and it says mine is compatal with iPhone. I've just been using the aux cord becase it's the only thing I can get to work. If I plug the USB cord into my head unit it will say device not recognized. I have the 16gb 3gs.

@steveso007 the buttons are a light blue colour but you are able to select 4 different led colour schemes that shine through the buttons.

The mount is from w w w . h o l d m y p h o n e . c o m . a u as stated in the first comment. It is the through connect adjustable holder for the iphone. They have many different mounts available for the iphone though and specific dashmounts for your car type.

Nice demo. Is it possible to set it up so that you can browse the music directly on the ipod (in landscape mode for example?). I had an Alpine iPod stereo before and it was so frustrating (bording on dangerous) to browse the music on it through the head unit. Would be much easier if they don't disable the browsing on the iphone when it's plugged in. Cheers :)

Unfortunately it isn't. Would like to be able to also. A lot of the time I will simply unplug it from the dock choose the album I want and then plug it back in.

I accidentally deleted a comment from some one before asking what cradle I'm using. The cradle is from w w w . h o l d m y p h o n e . c o m . a u It is the adjustable holder with pass through port for the iphone. They offer a number of cradles and each mount is designed for your model car, you just select your car model on the site. The cable is a specific ipd cable that comes with the head unit, it controls the music. Also connected to head unit via BT to handle phone calls.
