Oh yes. T he rain was real. The beauty of time constraint contests is they force you to start from where you are, because there are so many things you can't control. It started to rain as we entered the outdoor shoot, I felt a cold river running down my back in a soaked wedding gown on the road shoot, and tried not to shiver on "action". Rain was not in the original script:)
Just a quick question, you keep talking about how you filmed this with limited resources and so on. But you had access to a Red and crashed two cars in the process? How is this limited resources and how did you get access to such a camera for a quickie short?
Well we had virtually no money for the film lol I guess that's the no resources comment lol I called up a friend of mine in NY who has a Red and he immediately came down to help out because we had hit the submission deadline. And a friend of mine who is a stunt driver has two cars ready to go and let us use them...If you get a chance look up Kid Richmond...He's awesome!!
Thanks for looking into it!!! I know of a couple of people who have been notified(The film Perfecto is definitely one of those) I guess we didn't make it but what a fun process!!! We found out about the project on Sunday, Did preproduction on Mon and shot on Tues and Wed so it was definitely a whirlwind experience. I can't tell you how much I appreciate your help and comments. I really hope Blueberry and American Haiku get in they are very well done. Thanks again!
I have spoken to the makers of the film perfecto and they said nothing about being notified. The only way I could see this film not being notified is via disqualification. It would suck for projectdirect to notify some ppl, but just leave everyone else hanging until christmas eve. The page did say they would notify the finalists on dec 18th though. It sucks that all the films I thought were great didn't get notified. Perfecto was cute, but didn't stand out to me personally. Merry Xmas!!!!!

Truly one of the best films ive seen in the competition and absolutly a top 10 if not top 3 contender. But if I was you id email project direct for clarification. Ill send u a copy of the rule in question. People are assuming that the "association" described in the rule is the "Part of Project Direct" link. Ill let you know if i find out anything new. But as of right now many great films lack the link. Including yours and Blueberry, American Haiku, Orpheus and The Bro Pact.
This video is part of my personl top 5. And when i say that i mean that :P as a fellow filmmaker i know how much work goes into making a short like yours, it just wows me. Great cinematography btw. But all right, i ma have some bad news. Theres been alot of talk going around of "disqualifications." People are saying that the videos without the "Part of Project Direct" link underneath the description have been disqualified for one reason or another. I hope im wrong about it, because this film is
Gotham Guerilla came down with a terrible case of poison ivy on our shoot. So much love and sympathy is directed his way. Great job my friend, your cinematography was beautiful...Thanks Papa...BTW everyone has to check out the film Blueberry haha we're quoting it around the office...awesome
excellent film, you clearly understand the 5 minute medium as I do. 30-40 seconds to grab attention/create the tension, then keep the suspense until the climax at the very end.
I just wanted to say it was a pleasure working with you all down in VA. It may have been rough, dirty and as guerrilla as it gets but I would not have traded that experience for anything. Best of luck Papa...cheers!
Thank you so much for the review! I gotta say I am very impressed with your thoroughness, and I think you are doing a great service to all the entries by providing your input so objectively. Thanks again!!! I have my fingers crossed.
82.5/100 This may be first or tied for first at least so far, Technically nothing comes close, it runs tight and it's very entertaining, Highest production value I've seen aswell, my only worries are the swears, there were some rules about no course language, but besides that you should be very proud.

The RED really is a lovely problems; save for some of its on-set shortcomings, but it seems like you weren't even phased by those.
Lovely lighting and art direction; technically you're flying high.
