Morbid I wouldn't want to do that to my pet's remains. They should be treated like human remains, laid to rest. However I think the best pose is to have them peacefully sleeping in a comfy pet bed.

I know its a touchy subject for some people when they talk about stuffing their pets. However, personally, I feel that it would just make me sadder looking at my deceased pet knowing he/she is gone. Just because you have your pet's skin back does not mean your pet's soul is in there. I'd rather bury my dog in the place where we used to go to the most or just have her cremated.

People have tried this in the past, but have failed because our skin is so delicate it is quite impossible to handle the skin without creating tonnes of bruising, so the 'human taxidermists' just ended up doing clay models. btw, i haven't stuffed any humans, its facts you pick up in life, you learn something new everyday.

I find pet taxidermy slightly creepy myself in most cases, but I can understand the logic behind it. If I`d had the option I would of had one of my birds done because I really didn`t want to bury him. I would of liked to keep him with me. All I had after his death was a few feathers he`d molted. Sometimes something concrete to remember an animal by can help. I do however disagree with the guy not telling his daughter o-o

Something about this seems very wrong. Sometimes you need to learn to let go, as sad as it is. I personally would not want a constant reminder that my pet isn't there- because that's all these are saying. Just because you have the fur of the animal in the same shape doesn't mean you have your pet back. :(

@elise3sings Yes, look up soft taxidermy or sometimes listed as plush taxidermy. A hard form is inserted in the head and soft stuffing in the rest. From what I know of it it doesn`t last as long as regular rigid form taxidermy

This is pretty much the same process as an autopsy and embalming. The coroner skins and guts you, and the mortician flushes you, injects you with formaldehyde and finger paints your face with cheap mascara and wax.

@Blutonomous People aren't skinned or gutted during an embalming or autopsy. The organs are biopsied and retuned to the body in an autopsy. The blood is replaced with formaldehyde and dye, to prevent putrefaction before a funeral, during embalming.
