Victoria please help, when I type in for example dev.mywebsite com instead of showing the page it shows you it shows me that firefox can't open the website and can't connect to the server, what's wrong?
Absolutely Brilliant...I think the names Rebecca. Ive been looking to understand more about wordpress and knew you had to do the MAMP thing - have been trying to make MAMP work and get a sit up for months. FINALLY I come across your video and Ive been able to follow your easy to folow step. Thanks a heap. from the bottom of the world - New Zealand. I salute you : ),
Nice demo, but can you go through that with multiple sites? Mamp pro shows how to set up multiple sites but only the first one works. I can't find the answers anywhere and I bet I'm missing something easy.
@Nestor1383 Hi Nestor. Thanks for giving me a topic for my next video. I will post this later today. So check back then and let me know how you get on. :-)
@creativetoria Did you ever make this video? I've searched but I can't find it. Thanks for all the help so far btw MAMP PRO/WordPress info for "relative newbies", like me, seems to be almost non-existent! Keep up the good work - Deano
My browser isn't finding the folder I made with the wordpress files, the next step should include wordpress asking me to create the WP-Config file. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.
I followed this tutorial to set up a localhost with MAMP but I'm having trouble editing the .php file for Wordpress (I'm trying to create a theme). I've tried both Coda and Dreamweaver CS4 to do this but the files are all locked and displays the files as "read-only."
I'm guessing it's a problem with my MAMP. I believe I granted all access to myself as it is indicated in the "Priveleges"
Any tips? I've been running in circles searching for this on the web. =/
@Seaindigodeep. Try going into the HTDOCS folder and ctrl + Click and select Get Info. Then scrol down to the permissions at the bottom and unlock. You may notice that _www has permissions but your computer name does not. So then click on the plus underneath to add a new person to give permission to and select your computer name and grant it both Read and Write access. Then click on the wheel icon with the down arrow and select "Apply to enclosed items". Lock the security again.
@geebones You can get Mamp for Free,, but there is a charge for Mamp Pro. You can install Wordpress on your mac using the standard version of Mamp, it's just a slightly different process. If you have any questions let me know. I would be happy to make a video about installing Wordpress using the standard version of Mamp if you would find it useful. :-)
@creativetoria would be very helpful also im looking to add theme to make my website my first project is to make drinks website with shopping cart if you have any video to help please let me know

MY blog on my mac, ends up having to have 8888 after the domain name and before the config file.
other wise, if it does not have that it gets those two dreaded words IT WORKS.
I am not sure what I did wrong, latest version of Mac, latest mamp pro, and latest wordress.
Thanks for you help, I really appreciate what you do.

I haven't been able to open the 'create a configuration file' page - it just sends me to my ISP's 'website does not exist' page.

@ChibiPandaa that happened here as well. Any thoughts on how to go around this?
