Good morning, do you like sixties? Listen and pod cast my program " great sound of 60' s " on the site plumfm. Greeting and made blooper in rock and roll.
Salut, vous aimez les sixties ? Ecoutez et podcatez mon émission "le super son des sixties" sur plum fm. Salut et faites gaffe au rock'n roll.
I'VE GOT IT! I'VE GOT IT! I have the DVD! Both Beat Club performances are included in their entirety and they look fantastic! Ocasionally there is a hint of videotape squiggle but other than that? PERFECT! Dave has never looked better rockin' that banjo! And Roger's slightly annoyed facial expressions behind the kit are clear and priceless! If you like this band, YOU MUST OWN THIS DVD!
IT'S HERE EVERYBODY! THE DVD HAS BEEN RELEASED! I just ordered mine two days ago....I CANNOT WAIT! I can't wait to show family and friends what I expierenced in The Red Cat Theater in L.A. back on July 1, 2006. The sad thing for me will be seeing and hearing Dave talk. I know I'm gonna be crying! Dave was such a good guy, full of love for his fans! He embraced me like I was his grandson or something when he met me. Thank you for your contribution to rock and roll Dave! Rock that banjo in heaven!
The only thing missing for me on this live mix is Eddie's uber-distorted bass, which on the studio version just RIPS!!!!! But there is a definite energy here.
WE'RE ALMOST THERE FELLOW MONK FANS! I just checked Amazon and the DVD has appeared on the website but it's not available for pre-order yet. It should be available on March 13th! I'm only hoping they don't push the date back again, they already did it once, it was to be released on Feb. 27th.
THIS JUST IN!!!! The Monks documentary will be released on DVD on Feb. 27th, 2009 but will be available at Play Loud! Productions online store on Jan. 10th, 2009! The DVD will contain 70 minutes worth of bonus footage WHICH WILL INCLUDE all of the Beat Club performances IN THEIR ENTIRETY! It's gonna be MONK TIME all over again in '09 folks!
THIS IS THE ONE THAT DID IT FOR ME! This was the video clip that transformed me in Feb. of '06 (a different upload that got taken down long ago). This is the video I referenced to banjo player Dave Day when I wrote him a letter telling him I'd been converted to Monk-ism! This is the one that blew my mind that one fateful day. LONG LIVE THE MONKS!
I'm just so glad this exists. We're not so lucky with other great ahead-of-their-time bands, like Los Saicos (which I recommend to those interested in proto-punk and garage rock).
Great videos, this and "Cuckoo" are my favourites.
Check out the brand new trailer to the up-coming German theatrical release to the documentary film "monks-the transatlantic feedback" (Kinostart 4.10.2007). All the wonderful Beat-Club footage is in the final film in pristine quality.
